That's how Turtle did it and it worked really well. If you wanted to fish Nightfin you had to travel across the world depending on your timezone, didn't break immersion at all.

fredspipa

You definitely need to make it a physical button at the base of the jar in that case.

fredspipa

Having opposite day/night on each continent (+12h) could help, and doesn't mess with immersion (e.g. they're then on opposite sides of the world). Night in Kalimdor means day in EK.Turtle did that to help with it being an international server.

He replied to a comment i made like a decade ago and I consider it the peak of my reddit career.

This is why I love telling people about the domino effect from Anita Sarkeesian making video game critique articles leading to the Iran war, and how you can point at gamergate as this sort of catalyst for the new wave of right wing reactionary youth.

Where is SOD nowadays ? Where are all the SOD players ?
Shouldn't SOD be still alive and not a deserted wasteland if it was that great ?

SoD was always meant to be temporary, it was an experiment in what they could do with the classic engine and crazy class philosophy choices. It was a seasonal game mode that they learnt a lot from.

With click-casting you can still have the enemy targeted, it doesn't change target. I do a combination of mouseover and a couple of click heals, it's kind of nice being able to do all your healing with the mouse and save the keyboard for everything else. Shift+LMB = cheap heal, CTRL+LMB = chain heal, Shift+RMB = fast heal, CTRL+RMB = huge heal

fredspipa

If you use the built-in click-casting instead of the addon's, you can use it on any unit frame or portrait.

I use this one, it has meta progression and bosses and crafting and stuff, it's crazy:

Dyreparken -> Horde PvE. Vi var største norske på Turtle (~150 folk) og vi fortsetter i Forever. Sabeltann, Julius og companions er hovedfokus i våre raids.

Yeah when you meet him he's surrounded by corpses and is crazed by his bloodlust, then the entire chain is about him coming to terms with the loss and rejoining society.

I wouldn't take anyone with a nazi profile picture seriously

You can use weapons to hunt your own food, that doesn't mean school shooters and the military industrial complex is OK.

Opiates are incredibly useful and lifesaving drugs, that doesn't mean they haven't killed millions and ruined the lives of hundreds of millions more.

Just because something has fantastic benefits to you and your family doesn't mean it's not a net-negatibe for world. AI needs to be heavily regulated and restricted, it's currently wrecking our culture, economy, health and environment, and we need to find a way to do that without eradicating it entirely as in narrow use it has the potential to greatly improve our world.

fredspipa

They explicitly stated that a much higher level player (e.g. a booster) will negate xp for the party in the patch notes, but if all players are somewhat in range it's based on your level.

For most people, launching Battle.net from Steam should be enough these days, luckily.

fredspipa

Been playing WoW for 10+ years on Linux, retail+classic+SoD+era+turtle and now Forever Beta. It's one of those games that have just always ran well, including all the different addon managers shipping Linux native versions.

Battle.net launcher sometimes breaks visually and needs workarounds (it's a pile of crap), but the game itself is smooth as always.

fredspipa

I'd recommend waiting until the game releases instead of beta-testing it. A ton of stuff is changing all the time, servers are restarting often with little warning, and all your progress is going to be wiped in a month. This isn't early access.

fredspipa

Yeah mages ruining entire subzones with their AoE farming was even more annoying than bots. Hillsbrad quests, the murlocs in dustwallow, a single mage could make those quests take forever for a bunch of other players because their main character syndrome made it their own personal little farm.

fredspipa

I had the opposite experience. Rerunning a dungeon several times for loot is suddenly feasible as I don't outlevel it by doing so, and skipping entire zones just for a few pieces of gear.

For many of us it's not about XP/hour efficiency, reaching 60 as fast as possible is not a priority. We're here for the journey, to experience the fleshed out world with beautiful visuals and smell the roses. We've done the rush-to-raidlogging cycle so many times and it's gotten old.

fredspipa

Ooooh didn't see that, thought it was still nature spells. Felt crazy OP in SoD to pop off max rank healing waves or chain heals as well.

fredspipa

Everyone goes oom if they spam expensive AoE spells at low levels, it's not supposed to be sustainable.

When it comes to mana balance in general, you'll get maelstrom weapon later that allows you to instant cast chain lightning lightning bolt for no mana cost. Enhancement isn't about full totem AoE, those talents are in resto/ele tree for reduced cost and increased damage, but I'm sure there's a nice hybrid spec to build once you pass 40-50.

fredspipa

If people are freaking out over your actions 20% of the time, maybe it's worth changing your approach a bit.
