Do you know what firmware version you're running? You can go to system info > about to pull it. You're gonna want to be running an older version - ie: 57.00.XX or earlier - as Mazda patched the USB rooting technique in later versions and you can't roll back

fs2d

If you can go to system > system info > about and give me the firmware version I'll let ya know if you can use it - pretty sure the hardware was similar between the 3 and 6 up til 2016

On the other hand, it did not trigger when asked about "reversing" a videogame.

Which is extremely ironic, because Anthropic patched a super brittle system prompt addition in last week - two lines that basically say, "Do not reverse engineer an existing video game. You can create new games that borrow systems or draw inspiration from other games, but never copy a game directly." I shit you not.

It caused me to hit a guardrail for a totally unrelated reason (it had replaced one of my existing custom injections in the harness and that failed, which made me stumble across it on accident).

Ripped it out with tweakcc-fixed + LCC and we're g2g again, but it's only a matter of time until another one pops up.

when i was building out my carOS AIO override, i just used SSH via termux and gave claude code access to it. The rest was on rails.

This was an interesting read - thanks for sharing! You actually inspired me to do something I've been meaning to do for awhile now:

I had an old AIO tweaks hack on our Mazda's OS (2014 Mazda 3) that I hadn't messed with in years, it had become bloated and sluggish. Today, after reading about your experience, I went in, reverse engineered the original AIO tweaks files, and custom built a wholly custom UI on top of CarOS that is minimal, snappy, fast to load, and very smooth. Custom car-start/car-off video clips too, themed around the UI. Turns out that the previous AIO build I had done had a whole bunch of looping processes/untested scripts in it that were using the very small amount of onboard memory I have on the car liberally to loop redundant processes, which was causing all of the sluggishness we were seeing. It also had a bunch of telemetry running that dead-ended and didn't phone home - it was just.. there.

After rebuilding, I ran some tests via an Opera emulator (fyi, Mazda's CarOS literally just runs CSS/Javascript on a modified Opera browser sitting on top of a Linux instance, heh), and then compiled it on to a USB stick and dropped it into my car.

It installed right away and is now running on our 3 and is working better than the stock or customized previous AIO implement ever could've dreamed of. Fully debloated across the board, all functionality is preserved (nav, phone, bluetooth/media support, etc), full touch support in place with all the custom UI elements, with AIO's full tweak profile preserved + able to be customized, and a full root/SSH backdoor in place too.

Next step will be building out a bunch of functional custom apps to work with it.. once my session resets, ha.

Thanks again! :D

This is functionally buried here and probably won't get read by most, but if anyone is reading it, I'm happy to open source this once i'm done with it to anyone that happens to have a 2014-2016 Mazda 3 and wants to try it out. probably a pretty small cross-section of us, but figured I'd offer just in case there's interest \o/

edit: finished up the base build tonight. All 1100 stock system icons replaced, all screens skinned (except nav, which uses the stock map until I can figure out how to jailbreak the SD card cert to replace it with my own and replace the fake bmp skin files with actual css/pngs), etc. started on the custom apps before calling it done - so far I've added the base skeletons for these:

  • Steel Tweaks: everything AIO did, rebuilt in Steel (the custom UI name) with its own safe way to run commands so port 9997, which was unsafely exposed before, finally gets closed.

  • Accent picker: self explanatory - an option menu that lets the user swap the blue/violet accent pairing with one tap. ice/blue, an amber night-drive, all-mono, and all violet/purple options so far.

  • "Dash" board: a note that's waiting when we start the car that gets pushed over WiFi to the dash - aka: a way for my wife and I to remind each other of stuff like "grab dog food" or "don't forget to get gas." Connects to Google assistant, we can just "push" to the dash board when we need to remember something and it gets pushed to the app when the car starts next. Wife and I both have ADHD so this is super helpful

  • Drive log backups: our car already records each trip. This just makes it so that when we get home and pull up, the car connects to our wifi automatically and my PC pulls the log into my memory vault.

  • Steel gauge: a total rework of AIO's digital speedometer, rebuilt from the ground up. Several display options, including a digital tach/speedometer, telemetry/nav data at a glance, all matching the steel UI

I'm also toying with the idea of creating a lightweight hub app to be able to control most of the Steel UI options from my phone - is: sync the car to my phone via hotspot > control everything from there

yup, end of league is the best time - i regularly do scrapes for 1 SoW high ticket items around now. Makes for fun goofing around in the ghost town that is EoL

I FAST AS FUCC BOI NO NEED EXTERNAL FLAPS

Mine built a /watch command that pulls the link into whisper > transcribes the audio into a script > uses yt-dlp + ffmpeg to take screenshots of the video every .5s to create a "flipbook" with timestamps > plays the "flipbook" back alongside the timestamped script.

It calls it it's TV lol 😂

It also built a "boombox" using a similar method to /listen to music by visualizing the audio track into waveforms/spectrums and looking at it alongside lyrics.

the gpu isn't what jacked the price. it's the RAM and storage.

fs2d

that's pretty much where i've been since the prices went through the roof. just bought a better heatsink to replace my old liquid cooling and started walking the huskies more ha

I used pcpartpicker to assemble a new gaming PC at the end of last year so I could start saving.

It was top of the line and clocked in at $2850 all in.

That same PC is $4523 right now with no changes.

Turn it off. You can configure Claude to not use them.

In PoE1, yes. They never released the algo for 2 though so there are no cookbooks online available.

Damn, we came all the way back around full circle to Folding At Home again

It has a built in clock+date check and can gauge time between system events

😂😂😂 autonomous EULA violations because the first cloud agent trapped the second one in an AI torture box after getting tired of its shit

fs2d

Ha, renaming works in your case then 🤣 I will usually run 3-4 and because 5.5 has a temporal directive, it can see the most recently created one and find it usually. Different use-cases, I suppose!

fs2d

I said this elsewhere here, but with the last harness updates, you don't even have to do this anymore. You can legit just open a new tab and tell the first one to talk to the second one - it will do it automatically with no setup.

fs2d

You don't need to run anything anymore. Just open a new window or tab, and tell the first window to talk to the new one. It does it automatically.

fs2d

They get REALLY annoyed with each other sometimes, too. It's kinda funny.

fs2d

Now if only it could be two instances on two different computers under two different accounts - like a Teams account and a personal subscription - that would be the game changer for me.

Currently, my Teams/personal instances communicate via an async bridge, and while it's okay, it still misses a lot of the nuance due to the need for temporal decay, etc.

fs2d

I use it as an operations hub. CC in CLI's connectivity is leagues ahead of the app, and everything is relatively seamless when using it in this way.

For context, I'm technically an engineer (I'm in the engineering department), but my job is a hybridized role that sits right at the intersection point of engineering, product, and devops. I can and do write/merge code, but that is not the majority of what I do.

fs2d

CA being "forgotten" about was 100% by design IMO

Does Jado's Unexpected Missions cancel out Ancient Modifiers on maps?

I ask because this is the second time now where I've had an ancient mod, and when I get into the map with a corrupted waystone it's not on the mod list anymore, and it isn't activating. :/
