Great talk, Amy! [This is Shagun. Hi!] I've had to modify my courses too lately, I now use blue books as well. It sort of works, but on the whole, I find teaching less fun that it used to be :(
gatech03
Exactly! And Conan isn't the only one. I remember Oscar hosts from past years also touting this billion watchers figure. Where does this come from?
gatech03
Yes, I received approval on Jan 31.
gatech03
I am missing the context. right about what?

I'm also at the NYC FO since late Dec, but I got an RFE and I am now waiting for their reprocessing after my response. Any idea how fast the NYC FO is compared to other field offices? Also, NYC is my local FO - does that mean I am likely to be asked for an interview? I'm EB-1 from India.

I also got transferred to NY field office. I received an RFE and responded to it on Jan 6, but haven't heard back since then. Does anyone know how fast NY field office handles I-485, especially responses to RFE?
gatech03
Wat that the week?
gatech03
Validity is for 18 months. I got an RFE on Dec 31 about birth certificate. I already responded, but I'm not sure how much that would delay my application's processing.
gatech03
This is bad advice. Wait until you get the RFE. You don't want to confuse the officer with submitting information that doesn't speak to your RFE.

I-140: approved Jan 2023.
I-485, EAD, AP: applied Oct 1, 2025
EAD, AP: Approved Dec 15, 2025

I have a priority date of Jan 2023, from India. My EAD and AP very recently got approved. Does it mean I have a higher likelihood of a quicker I-485 approval?
gatech03
wow! This must have been a sad retrogression experience. I feel for you!

No update on the same timeline. Are you from India/China/Rest of the world?
gatech03
What is PP?
gatech03
Are you India/China or ROW?

You are not paying your professor, you are paying the university. The professor actually more than pays for him/herself and their labs through the grants they bring in. They are not relying on you. Your tuition pays for the infrastructure and admins that is mostly geared to serve YOU, the students, not professors.

What are you on about? He's a movie scholar, at his core. The fact that he references movie history so deeply in his work, is just a fact. Movie scholars with an eye toward classic cinema references, would, of course, be likely to appreciate him more.
gatech03
yes. Two days after the mail delivery
gatech03
You just predicted 'EB1 India is dead' lol.
gatech03
No movement at all for EB1 India. Again.

Oct 2030, if we're lucky
It's grammatically improper to pair a titles with a first name, esp. in academia. Besides, titles like "Professor" or "Doctor" signal formal respect, while first names signal intimacy or informal equality. Combining them creates a conflicting "half-formal" tone.
