Nothing you say will get through because there is nothing to get through and nothing you have said thus far has any validity. When you can actually argue your side with facts and not feelings you are welcome to try again.
In the mean time enjoy your day/night.

This post is so full of conjecture and fallacy I don't know where to start.
While there were probably many people sold on any of the given release dates I am sure it is nowhere near as many as you want to make it out to be. Anyone that has been around gaming for more than 5 minutes knows that delays are going to happen. I have and continue to see games with announced dates pushed back. How many times was it for Cyberpunk? Starfield also got a huge push back recently IIRC. No bitching about that? Of course there are many others that have done the same.
I have yet to see any proof whatsoever that anyone at CIG lied about anything. Planning to release something then having to change that is not lying. I will wait while you show me proof that they intentionally made statements they knew to be false.
The FOMO and Predatory sales comments are also nothing but crap. Anyone that reads the numerous statements required to back the game can see it plainly spelled out that the game is in development and stuff may change. If someone does not have the personal responsibility to understand what they are supporting that is on them not CIG.
CIGs sales tactics are no different than any other company. BOGO offers, coupons, limited-time sales are everywhere and in everything. Yet its a problem at CIG?
There is no real substance to the majority of the whining from the vocal few no matter how much stretching and twisting of words you want to apply to it.
georgep357
No it does not.
georgep357
Disingenuous picking and choosing of my statements does not change the meaning of what was said. Anyone with a modicum of understanding can see that neither refers to the two named engines and my further comment of "As I understand it they took the best engine available at the time for fidelity and modified it to do what they wanted" covers why it was not any of the other possibilities.
Of course when you have no argument it is typical to try and distract from the subject matter with such falsities.
georgep357
Well its not just the scale that it adds if any. There is also the situation where it is something that could be added when nothing else that current dev was working on was ready. Not sure of your experience with multitasking but there are often time when you can knock out a small task while waiting for another task to be ready.
Whether it was a task that touches other aspects or something quick that needed done while waiting is irrelevant. The relevant part is that those of us on the outside have no idea what is and is not needed at a given time.
georgep357
I am not making excuses for any of it. I am simply stating the fact the neither you nor I know whether bedsheet physics should have waited or not.
georgep357
I have and seeing something like bedsheet physics, for example, might make one think along the likes of your other comment. The problem with that is we have no clue how much of the game those bedsheet physics touch nor the proper time they should be implemented.
georgep357
You see this is a baseless comment that has no substance. Unless you are working within CIG, and have inside information on what tasks they are working on and the knowledge required to determine what is necessary and when, you have no standing for this claim.
georgep357
Holy moly! I never in any way suggested there was no other engine. I stated what I understood to be the reason CryEngine was selected and I am reasonably sure that my understanding is based on fact.
The size and complexity are not a fault. It is a factual reason for the slower development, one of the main reasons why so many have backed it including myself!
georgep357
I can not speak for any but myself and I have not been tricked in any way. Actually the only reason I didn't back in Kickstarter was because I wanted to see where it would go. By late 2015 I saw enough to convince me it was worth a shot and I have not been disappointed.
A reasonable amount of time is a subjective statement. What is a reasonable amount of time for any grand project?
The supposed tricking of backers, the timeframe and whatever transpired between CR and Microsoft has nothing whatsoever to do with our previous discussion. It is just more conjecture and fallacy that does not disprove the fact that a launched game makes more money than an alpha.
georgep357
They couldn't have chosen UE4/5 or another engine?
As far as I can tell neither were available when Star Citizen began. As I understand it they took the best engine available at the time for fidelity and modified it to do what they wanted.
All those you list come no where near the size and scope of Star Citizen in any way whatsoever! Fortnite is cartoony trash at best! How many variations are they of each of those? How large are/were the development teams?
If those are the games you are comparing in difficulty to what CIG is trying to do I am at a loss of words for that amount of cognitive dissonance but it does explain a lot.
georgep357
He may be happy with that amount as you say but anyone else that will realize large profits on successful launch likely is not. I figure people make $50 million dollar investments to turn rather large profits. Why would someone invest that amount for a return that could be gotten almost from straight up interest payments alone?
georgep357
In no way are those listed speculative. The only speculation is that made about "bad management" and any other suppositions that have no form of verifiable proof.
While there may be other games doing both single and multiplayer versions I am not sure that the term plenty qualifies the amount. Even with those that are doing two at a time how many of those are building the engine and company at the same time.
I would be curious to see a list of these other games that you reference as plenty. One or two would be great but the more the merrier as they day.
georgep357
Oh I'm sure lol
georgep357
I already know why you took such offense at the facts referenced by my statements.
EDITED: Clarity and to change "and" to "at"
georgep357
Typical lack of thought, reasoning or anything resembling discussion.
georgep357
I primarily mine Yela and Daymar when going for those cheaper ores and I never waste time on anything over 4500 mass.
It can be a bit grindy but it does pay the bills for me.
georgep357
Those are factual reasons not speculations.
They had to rebuild Cryengine/Lumberyard to "Star Engine". Fact
They are building two games at once. Fact
They maintain a live build for play testing. Fact
They continually run low on help. Fact
Those facts were referenced in the respect to development because they are the top reasons for delays in development of this Sim. The OP I responded to made the comment about no other sim was developed this slowly but failed to take into account that no other sim has been done with those very applicable facts as part of the development process.
georgep357
Largest I remember off the top of my head was like 8800 mass.
georgep357
I have to disagree. I make decent money popping Agricium, Taranite, Laranite and Bexalite with the base Prospector. Granted I do not min/max and make less than those that do but I do profit quite nicely.
EDIT: To clarify I own my prospector but I run it bone stock as much as tricked out.
georgep357
They didn't start from scratch.
Never said they did, just stated they had to build their engine, which they have and are still tweaking.
They chose that
Relevance
They chose that also
Relevance
Fact remains that those three things are the primary reasons for time invested thus far. Was there questionable decisions along the way? Maybe, since none of us were in the room during these supposed decisions we have nothing but speculation.
There is also the factor of staffing the company that has taken quite a while and is also still in process.
georgep357
I know many do argue that but it does not line up with reality of the situation. There are many times more players not in yet compared to the numbers after release. I would bet that the current paid community is less than 10% of future sales.
There is a very large group that will not consider anything until its released. Additionally with all the differing career options going to be available within the universe there is a rather large contingent of players that will just want to do grunt (grindy) work. I would bet many of the latter don't even have SC on their radar yet.
If CIG does not offer a game package sans ship at some future point they will be hurting their overall market by a lot.
georgep357
And that 6 figure income is paltry compared to what they will make with release.
georgep357
So reiterating on the same old tired mantra, no surprise there.
I rejoined twice in the last week. Two different crashes, one game crash and one GPU crash, both logged me right back to where I was before crashing. I haven't had any 30k in weeks so this is actual crash recovery.
