Yes. It's time to move on. One person is intentionally sabotaging your career progression because he cannot effectively manage his department.
Also, every time we jump in to fix things that aren't really ours to fix, we're enabling businesses to operate understaffed and badly managed. We're basically duct tape over the problems.
If you have claude or chatgpt in slack have it review your year-to-date messages and tickets if it can see the ticketing system, and have it summarize your work over the year. Use that summary to make resumes customized for the jobs you apply to.

Happy Birthday, Kiddo!
Sadly, while every kid deserves a parent, not every parent deserves a kid.
It's hit or miss whether I hear from anyone in my family on my birthday. It doesn't even bother me anymore. I encourage you to find a way to let it not bother you, either. Once you can set down your expectations for people who repeatedly disappoint you, everything else gets a little better.
I wish you a very happy year ahead!

They don't need to be super long sessions. If you have an hour at the gym, do 20 minutes of compound heavy lifts like barbell squats and deadlifts, then 20 minutes of cardio (rowing, stair climber, treadmill), then finish up with 20 minutes of stretching. If you did that 3-5 days per week, you'll be solid in your 50s.

Come up with a use case for something you’ve been wanting to do, but haven’t gotten around to it, yet. Fire up Claude, and say “I’ve been meaning to do XYZ, but I’m not sure where to start. Help me formulate a plan to accomplish this goal.”
My wife used Claude to create a web page for an upcoming trip we’re taking that has all the reservation details for our hotel stays, flight and train information, and things we want to do. It’s made it very visually easy to keep track of our trip.
My son takes his schoolwork, uploads it to Claude , and says “this is what I need to learn. Build a plan to tutor me on the subject, build in 3 quizzes, and a stack of flash cards.” His grades have gone up a lot this year since he’s actually gaining a deeper understanding of his subjects.
I built a recipe/cooking website where Claude breaks down the recipes, provides cooking steps with the ingredients needed for each step, lets me pick multiple recipes into a plan, builds a consolidated grocery list for the plan, then sends the groceries to my TickTick grocery list. I just updated it today to keep track of my grocery staples, and allows me to send what I need into the TickTick grocery list, too.
And this is just our personal use cases. Once you do your first project, ask Claude to reexamine the project and recommend good skills that would have improved the design or development of the project. Redo the project with those skills installed so you get a real understanding of the difference.
With the $20 plan, use Sonnet 5.5 as your daily driver model and have it delegate tasks to opus, sonnet, and haiku agents as needed. That will help maximize your token life. Sonnet 5.5 and Haiku 5.5 are great for simple projects like the ones I listed above, and for writing documentation.

Oh no. When our local AOLs come to visit us, I always talk to the parents about the other local troops, because different troops will be a better fit for some scouts. And we welcome men as committee members and women as ASMs.
To me, this is worth reaching out to your district leadership about.

I asked my 85 year-old mom about the cognitive tests, and she said no doctor has asked her to take one yet, so she doesn’t know. Shes slowed down physically in the last 10 years, but she’s still very mentally sharp.

I feel like this is a consequence of security becoming its own career path. In the days of yore, young sysadmins would work for a few years, and realize they had a passion for security focused work, and they would organically grow into a security career with all that practical experience and judgement informing their security practice. Now we just hire junior people into security roles with no operational responsibilities and they seem to never gain the practical experience that would drive a really competent security practice.

They can be. When all the parties to the relationship are equally invested in a common set of boundaries.

Ethical non-monogamy is really hard. If you’re both not 100% on board, then one of you is just looking for a loophole to cheat.
If you’re not ready to be in a committed marriage, then don’t be in the marriage. It’s a simple as that. Committing to a marriage has nothing to do with sexuality or labels. It has to do with our integrity. If you don’t feel like you can live up to your vows in the face of temptation then you need to own that and have enough integrity to be honest with your wife before you waste more of her life on a marriage that isn’t working for you.

Outside of the US this is much more common. Inside the US it’s becoming more common.
I’ve told my son that he’s welcome to live here as long as he wants, because I’m already living here anyways, and he can save money. I hope he takes me up on it. When I was 26 I shared a 1-bedroom apartment with 3 other guys. And still lived paycheck to paycheck and had to scrimp and scrounge to pay rent.

Amounts over $10k are automatically reported, and amounts under that are reported if they seem suspicious or look like they’re part of a pattern of someone trying to avoid being reported. So don’t break that $80k into ten $8k deposits and think you won’t have to pay taxes on it.

if you know a couple that is putting every ounce of effort and planning into the wedding, with no thought of what comes after the wedding, that's a red flag.
gruntbuggly
that's a good train of thought to explore before the wedding. follow it. see why you don't want to marry them. is it just you getting cold feet? are they showing red flags? are there trust issues?
this matter deserves your full attention, so that you can make the best choice for your future. good luck!

My wife and I have had the same policy for 22 years, and it's been working out just fine. We use each other's phones to lookup stuff up fairly often, or to reply to texts for each other when we're driving, but to the best of my knowledge neither of us has ever searched the other's phone, and neither of us has ever made the other feel like there was a reason to.

Definitely do not slather it on like peanut butter. Put it on like it’s butter and your cardiologist is watching your every move.

If you have the little plastic containers or the plastic tubes, the expiration date may be for the plastic. But the glass jars should last even longer than the vegemite.

I have a server with an e5-2620 and 32GB of ram and it is a great docker server. It's a supermicro server, and I did search online for a quieter, lower watt, power supply which made a huge difference in the noise and in how much power it consumes.

It is a real problem. There are a lot of mommas boys out there who are really looking for a nurturing mommy figure to take care of them, rather than an equal partner.

I would have dumped her on the spot. Either she cheated, or she is the kind of person who likes to play stupid games and intentionally break trust. Either one is a kind of person I have no interest in being in a relationship with.

Addiction is fucking terrible. I've known a few addicts in my life, and all of them wished they weren't an addict, and all had no control over their impulses when it came to addiction.
Don't take her word for whether you'd pay her alimony and be worse off. Talk to a lawyer and take *their* word. She's an unstable addict, which practically ensures you get full custody. Which means she'll owe you child support. And given her unstable finances, it's also quite likely that you would be granted a court order allowing you to deduct child support from your alimony payments. You may event be able to get a court order allowing you to structure the remaining alimony such that it's paid directly to a landlord and/or utility companies.
She wants you to think you're better off floundering in the water with an anchor tied to your ankle than you would be if you untied the anchor, but it's probably not true. At least with her detached, you and your child would have less chaos in your lives.
When you join the meeting, just say "Thank you for scheduling this meeting. I've been waiting months for someone to get back to me, and I wasn't sure anyone was ever going to. It's actually good to know that I wasn't completely forgotten".
Then launch into things you've seen that you could do to make an impact. Areas where there have been problems. Stuff like that. Flip the script from a place where you're joining the meeting nervous about being called out for doing nothing, to a place where you're grateful to be remembered and to potentially get some direction other than "sit tight."
