Serverpartdeals for cheaper HDDs. I’d get at least a 16-18TB HDD for the UDMSE. After 6-7 cameras a separate UNVR might be worth it depending on how much recording time you need and how much timeline scrubbing you’ll be doing.

Looks like you’re not correctly punching down the termination. The slanted side of the punch down tool needs to be facing out and a full punch down needs to occur. This can be fiddly especially if you don’t have a flat surface to hold the jack sturdy.

6ghz is a life saver in my scenario. I live in townhome neighborhood with only 1 available ISP (shitfinity) and every other resident is generally 65+ years old with the all in one comcast modem/router blasting WiFi and congesting channels through out the entirety of the neighborhood.

Will there be better discounts for the g5/g6 at the lg partner store for BF/CM or is it just about as good as it will get already?

halfnut3

Holy shit that hurt my brain trying to read that

Any reason your running CMP Plenum Cat6a? Cat6a is a pain the ass as is to terminate but Cat6a plenum is ridiculously more stiff and rigid. Those tight bends to plug in say the new G6 doorbell/pro where it needs to bend 90 degrees up into the jack will be damn near impossible without pinching/ruining the cable. CMR riser cat6/ca6a is 99% perfectly adequate for residential installs and unless your house is absolutely massive with multiple 300 foot long runs then cat6 is totally viable for 10GbE speeds.

As for your question: I usually go for option A for my own personal network setup at home just for ease of use and can switch drops or ports around easily if need be. If I’m on a job it’s usually option B.

The new appleTV4k has been confirmed it’s being released before next year?

Pretty much what u/oxidizingpantaloons said

I have the slimQ usb-c PD 3.1 150W charger and it’s sweet but they don’t make a 400w GaN charger for the gen 10 7i pro unfortunately.

halfnut3

Also with all those cameras maybe a UNVR instead of just relying on the udm-pro max.

Have you seen the UniFi 1U rack mount 24 port RJ45 surge protector? I’m confused on how it could be used without a ground block from the main panel. Take a look:

They still recommend installing SFP+ to copper adapters diagonally when connecting on a switch I think so there aren’t any two directly next to or above/below eachother

Did you have the regular 1 year warranty the laptop came with or did you purchase the extra 5 year extended warranty that includes accidental damage etc? I’ve heard such mixed experiences with Lenovo and their warranty process.

He’s actually Batman or bought the cell phone sonar system off of Batman/morgan freeman after Christopher Nolan no longer needed it

Actually now looking at PoE requirements for the G6 PTZs the flex switch won’t have enough juice to power both since even with the max PoE++ 60w input the flex can only manage 46w output and each G6 PTZ uses 24.5w each. It might work but you’ll probably have power issues which will be a headache in the long run.

halfnut3

Ah I forgot about the flex switch ability to receive and provide PoE. Yes that logic seems sound to me.

halfnut3

No the idea is fine. PoE will auto negotiate and never push more than required since electricity is pulled and not pushed. So you couldve used a 90w PoE+++ injector for a regular 10w PoE client and it would be fine. My question is how were you going to split 3 PoE clients off of 1 PoE++ injector?

So how are you getting fiber service if they never ran the new lines through the neighborhood and to the houses? Did another ISP or company run trunk feed through out the neighborhood?

halfnut3

ATT was going to install fiber through out your house? Or do you mean run fiber to the house from the street? ISPs never run any type of cable inside the house other than the initial rg6 or fiber drop from the street. If your house was part of a new development with out any trunk cable from the telephone poles or underground then they would’ve had to run a brand new line from the nearest node/amp and that would’ve cost a pretty penny. You would’ve had to hire a separate low voltage contractor to do all the in house fiber/ethernet installation before the Sheetrock was installed and all the walls were closed up.

halfnut3

I think you mean Fiber->ONT->router->MoCA
->ethernet/WAPs/etc

I thought you had fiber drops through out your house and were trying to convert fiber to MoCA.

halfnut3

I’ve gotten regular f connectors to fit quad shield rg6 but it takes some serious effort and skill. You have to make the cable as rigid as possible in one hand and with the other hand (after you’ve folded and pushed down all of the excess braided shielding) push and twist the f connector down the cable in one motion. It can still be a pain even with a quad shield f connector. It’s kind of a separate skill you have to learn over time but it does get easier. Just never use the crap push on connectors that don’t require a proper compression termination because 9/10 times they will fail or just straight up fall off.

My question is how are you using MoCA adapters to transfer a fiber connection to a copper rg6 then back again… Ethernet over moca is one thing but if you’re getting a fiber line in from an ISP you’d need separate media converters.

halfnut3

What laptop do you have?

halfnut3

Oh I see. Just how you worded your post was quite confusing. So do you have a physical mux switch or advanced Optimus which in theory should work identically to a mux switch when in hybrid mode.

halfnut3

Yea no fun. If the client list was big enough maybe sacrifice going once a month or so but still a pain in the ass.

Microcenter has a surprisingly good amount of UI gear the only catch is you can’t really buy most of it online and have to go in store to purchase or pick up. So a moot point if you’re nowhere near a microcenter.
