It literally is. Being a parent never stops, so no, neither does being a stepparent. I can’t imagine being upset with my partner for doing what parents do while actively doing it myself.

Try a hypoallergenic formula like similac alimentum. My son did this and he had a milk protein allergy. He also never spit up but he did have silent reflux.

Children are impulse driven, so yes, he asking on impulse. You don’t even need to be questioning that one.

But tbh, who cares? Heavy restriction leads to rebellion. I know we’re not talking about crazy stuff here, but this isn’t going to teach what you think it is. You can teach “anti-consumerism” without restriction. You can say no without restricting to special occasions.

Sometimes buying something IS a special occasion. Buying things DOES make us happy. You can absolutely just say no because you’re saying no, but that doesn’t mean you gotta wait 10 months to get him literally anything. In adult life, we often can’t buy the things we want and we have to say no.

Why not just be honest? My son is 3, I do this with him. I say no, not right now dude, sometimes we can’t get the things we want even though we want them really badly. Maybe next time we can get something fun. Disappointing for sure but that’s literally life lol.

I think you’re overthinking this.
