You don’t know where the story actually begins. The Mahabharata isn’t one linear story with one central theme. It is a massive web of intertwined stories, sub-stories, characters, relationships, political conflicts, family rivalries, vows, betrayals, and questions of dharma, fate, power, duty and consequence - many of which go back generations before the Kurukshetra war even becomes a possibility.

If you actually knew the story, you’d know the war itself isn’t some inevitable consequence of one or two events. Krishna goes as a peace messenger. There were repeated attempts at negotiation. Even at the very end, there were opportunities to step back.

The eventual war is the culmination of an enormous chain of events, choices and consequences, not the premise of the story.

You don’t have to agree with me about what the Mahabharata means. But at least study the thing you’re arguing about.
