Or worse, how greedy are they that they'd rather sacrifice the player experience and reduce their own player numbers just to not share profits with Steam? It's the type of greed you'd expect from a crypto bro who's unwarrantedly arrogant, who uses bait-and-switch tactics like claiming "No P2W" then adding in egregious microtransactions and throttling F2P players, who wanted to put NFTs into the game... Oh, like the owner of the game...

Guy here. It's strange. If I compliment a guy's hair/eyes, some of them get irked as if I'm hitting on them or challenging their masculinity in some way. However, whenever I compliment a guy on their physique/strength, such as "damn you're jacked!" or something to that effect, it's always received well.
Of course, some guys appreciate the compliment on hair/eyes, but many take it poorly.

Which part didn't I understand? I didn't know what the hell you were trying to say from start to finish lol
I asked ChatGPT to explain what you wrote:
Sure, I can help interpret the message from the non-native English speaker. Here's a breakdown of what they might have been trying to convey:
Analogy with a Hammer: The person uses the analogy of a guy hitting his head with a hammer. This likely symbolizes harmful behavior or self-destruction.
Intervention and Response: They suggest that if you try to intervene or question this behavior (the guy hitting his head), the person insists that it's beneficial to them, threatens you, and demands that you respect their right to continue this behavior.
Acceptance and Resignation: Eventually, seeing that your intervention is futile and that the person is adamant about their harmful behavior, you might reach a point of resignation and just think, "Ok," accepting that they will continue their behavior despite its negative consequences.
In essence, the commenter seems to be drawing a parallel between the US's relationship with guns and the analogy of a person insisting on harmful behavior. They're suggesting that the US's obsession with guns is irrational and self-destructive, and despite any attempts to intervene or change this behavior, the resistance is so strong that outsiders might eventually just accept it as an unfortunate reality.
The heavily downvoted comment is trying to express frustration and resignation about the prevalence of gun violence in the US, using a metaphor that might have been confusing due to language barriers and the abstract nature of the analogy.
I also asked ChatGPT how you could improve your communication and what aspects of your message were unclear:
Certainly! Here are some specifics that made the original comment difficult to understand, along with some feedback for clearer communication:
Unclear Analogy:
- The analogy of a person hitting their head with a hammer isn't immediately relatable to gun violence.
- Feedback: Choose an analogy that more directly parallels the situation you're discussing. For example, compare gun violence to a more commonly understood form of self-harm or societal issue.
Lack of Context:
- The comment jumps into the analogy without clearly stating what it's referring to.
- Feedback: Start with a brief statement of your main point before diving into an analogy. For instance, "The US's obsession with guns is like..."
Complex Sentence Structure:
- The sentences are long and somewhat convoluted, making it hard to follow the train of thought.
- Feedback: Break down the sentences into shorter, simpler ones. Use clear subject-verb-object structures to convey your points.
Ambiguity in Pronouns and References:
- Phrases like "you might say something" and "that's a good idea or something" are vague and don't clearly connect to the analogy.
- Feedback: Be explicit about who is doing what. For example, "If someone sees a person hitting their head with a hammer, they might try to intervene. However, if the person insists..."
Missing Logical Connectors:
- The transition from describing the behavior to the point of resignation ("Ok") isn't smooth or clearly connected.
- Feedback: Use logical connectors like "therefore," "as a result," or "eventually" to guide the reader through your reasoning.
Abstract Conclusion:
- The final "Ok" is too vague and doesn't tie back clearly to the initial point about gun violence.
- Feedback: Conclude with a statement that clearly ties the analogy back to the original issue. For example, "Therefore, outsiders might eventually accept the US's gun culture as an unfortunate reality, just as they might resign themselves to the person harming themselves."
Here's a revised version of the comment that incorporates these points:
"Yes, the situation in the US with guns is like watching someone repeatedly hit their head with a hammer. If you try to intervene, they might insist that it helps them think better and even threaten you for trying to take away their hammer. Despite your efforts to help, they demand that you respect their right to do this. Eventually, you might give up and think, 'Okay, there's nothing more I can do.' Similarly, people might feel resigned to the US's gun violence, seeing it as something that won't change despite its obvious harm."
This version uses clearer language, explicit connections, and a more direct analogy to convey the intended message.

Let me keep this real simple for you: you're a piece of shit

Guy here. My ideal body has been achieved and lost a few times over the years. I'm always happiest when I have my ideal body because it means I'm in great shape, I'm eating healthily, and taking excellent care of my hygiene. This means I physically and mentally feel good more often, and almost all my social interactions are improved.
There are certain downsides though. The main ones include dealing with other people's jealousy, being sexualized by women that don't respond well to softly being rejected, and so on. There is also the issue of being desirable in a manner that women want to become exclusive even after I've made it clear that I'm not interested in being exclusive.
The downsides are real and felt. It ranges from being an unintentional homewrecker due to not being told that they have a significant other, to breaking their heart, to having outsiders dislike the attention that I'm getting, to receiving unwanted advances, and so on.
When I don't have my ideal body, and therefore am in a slump where I'm not at my best, I feel worse in most ways. I get overlooked, I'm not lusted after, my social interactions plummet which causes a cascading effect whereby I'm less inclined to try to socialize at all, and so on.
People treat me completely differently based on this simple quality. As someone who reflects and introspects, I've learned that I treat people differently as well for the same/similar reasons, which sucks. I try to make a concerted effort to not be imprisoned by these sorts of human biases, judgements, and failings, but the reality is that I prefer being around people with ideal bodies assuming that ideal refers to healthy mentally and physically with great hygiene and a healthy lifestyle. They simply motivate me to stay healthy whereas unhealthy people tend to have the opposite effect.

You're so dexterous that you missed your flight lol...
Where I'm from, people that talk & act like you are referred to as bitches...
You seem to bitch a lot and you're acting petty as fuck
Get your shit together

As a guy, it's not that simple. Some of my lady friends respond well when I check in, while others assume I have ulterior motives. This has been the case since I was a teenager. However, I regularly check in with my girl friends, especially those who truly know me, and they tend to appreciate it.

Guy here. I'm not grossed out at all by body hair. I've met many women who were self conscious about it though. I blame society for this. In those cases, I sincerely insist that I'm not bothered in the slightest by it. I wish I knew what to say to have that message really sink in though. Usually it remains obvious that they're still concerned about it.

Dude you're an absolute dick. She was proud of her work and you shat on it for no good reason. What the fuck is wrong with you? Congrats on being yet another "technically intelligent yet emotionally unintelligent" moron. I don't like you, and I feel bad for your wife
Since you're clueless, here is what a normal person would have said to her: "Haha yeah I'm one lucky guy! Nice work honey. Love you" or something along those lines. Fuck you

Now that you realize you married a monster, you should consider getting far away from said monster. That is the most insane response he could give. Also, that is his best friend, the pedophile rapist, who jokes about an attempted rape he committed while your monster of a husband laughed along and says "who cares about the girl since she's not my daughter". What in the everliving fuck is going on over there. Run far away and never look back. Holy...

Spent a whopping 5 seconds looking at your profile just now. First post (your most recent) is you being an incel. Makes sense. Not surprised

How did you get this dumb? Asking for science... Don't reproduce, please...
harbhub
Now that you know he is a piece of shit, you can leave. It's a good time to do so.

Hey incel! I now have the displeasure of interacting with you. I'm popping in the conversation to say that I'm not tall (below 6 feet) and that you're an incel. It would be great if you could stop being an incel. "Incel" is a mindset, not a physical characteristic. Fix your brain. Everything you say is convoluted/wrong.

"I'm married to a 35 year psychopath who is devoid of compassion. Should I be alarmed?" You should only be alarmed if you care about the well-being of others, which is perhaps the most basic form of human decency. If you lack that just like your husband, then by all means, keep your man. Otherwise, run for the hills and try to figure out why you married a violent psychopath (or sociopath) to begin with so that you don't make the same mistake in the future. Or, you know, "talk to him and try to work it out" because your 35 year old husband can't comprehend why murder for entertainment is a problem... Oh, and one last thing, if you do muster up the courage (and the common sense) to leave him, be careful; he's dangerous and you don't want to be his next victim. There is a direct correlation between animal violence and violence directed at humans (e.g. domestic violence and child abuse).

Degrees and titles have no merit on their own. Most people who graduate college are nothing more than parrots.

Why do you roll your eyes though? By the time someone makes it to Reddit asking for advice, the relationship is usually a clusterfuck that cannot (or should not) be salvaged. It's rare to see issues that are normal and can be worked out, and those issues tend to get resolved and a pleasant update posted soon afterwards.
It's common to see abuse (both physical and emotional), extreme stupidity (like this thread), lack of empathy/compassion/conscience (like this thread), infidelity, financial issues such as theft or inappropriate spending behaviors, power/control issues, and other clear deal breakers.
Even on the less serious issues, it still is deal breaker territory for anyone with some semblance of reasonable standards. Oh, your messy partner doesn't clean up after themselves at the age of 30 and is unwilling to learn? Have fun with that. Oh, your partner shells up into a useless ball (or becomes irate) when even the slightest inconvenience occurs? Oh, your partner can't communicate effectively and has no emotional maturity? Why bother trying to fix a person who is borderline unfixable when you can exit the relationship, work on yourself, and find someone better?
Here's the most important point: a person is either growth seeking or they are not. If someone isn't consciously trying to grow, then don't waste time trying to force them to grow. If someone is consciously trying to grow as a person, then you won't have any of these issues to begin with.

Since he didn't give you actionable advice, I will. Find a company that respects and values you.

Not all husbands/boyfriends are like that. Unfortunately you, OP, and many others have settled for subpar men. I wish you all the strength to leave and find a healthy partnership, but I've seen way too many incredible women who waste their lives on men who don't even have the capacity to grow, communicate, and cherish them.

He also makes the asinine argument that we treat animals better and uses the example of how movies tend to not harm animals while neglecting the argument that mass torture factory farming causes more suffering towards animals than was even possible in prior generations due to the sheer scale of it. Humans inflict insane amounts of damage to the planet via oil spills, plastic pollution, climate change, deforestation, mining, and so on. The magnitude of animal suffering today is immense, and the notion that it has improved over time is bogus. Steven Pinker isn't wise, and his work does more harm than good because it paints a false picture of reality. He's a quasi-intellectual with no semblance of enlightenment. Humans haven't progressed beyond war and violence. There are several active wars today in places like Yemen, Syria, and Ukraine. We have rampant amounts of pedophilia, rape, torture, genocide, slavery, and so on.
Yes, go watch the clip. It's so tame. Go watch it and see. We're in the "all the alarm bells are ringing loudly" phase.
