trying to equate people that don't want them near them with some sort of luddite that doesn't understand that other industries use them

...

Who would want datacenters anyways? They don’t provide any long term jobs. Literally what is the upside for the common citizen?

...

None, hence we need to get rid of them and ban building the future ones

...

Don’t threaten me with a good time

An insult isn't "ad hominem." Their argument is not based on you being dumb, they are just adding that you are dumb.

Quantum resistant asymmetric encryption needs to be implemented ubiquitously before quantum computers get big enough that it is needed. Some systems are going to take years to get it rolled out. Some information will remain vulnerable well after the systems that it came from are updated. When it's time that we need quantum resistant encryption, it's too late.

Bad actors are already saving data that they cannot decrypt yet, but that when they can, that data will be valuable to them if that data is still sensitive. This is a much more narrow slice of sensitive data than it sounds like but it's still an issue.

All that is to say that we aren't worried about the day that a giant quantum computer comes online. The sooner quantum resistant encryption rolls out the better.

A couple of months ago MAGA was calling treason on congresspeople for telling troops to not follow illegal orders because "Trump wouldn't give illegal orders."

You're the guy in the image who doesn't realize that the commentary is about "these grown men" not the annoying teenagers.

It usually sells out so it's usually the same amount of packed regardless of the day. Maybe not the case when rain is in the forecast.

Get there early (5:15 is the latest I'd call early) and park at one of these lots

The shuttle picks up and drops off right in front of the building just south of the first pin.

I've never tried the high school, it might be a good option.

You called that person a troll and said that the data proves that his assumptions are incorrect.

You had an opportunity to clear up where your data came from and instead you spammed a bunch of complete nonsense links to misrepresent it as definitive data.

You could go to the Olympics with that kind of back pedaling skill.

Now I'm being obtuse for not going along with your mitigating language.

Ask chatgpt what DARVO means.

I think the power line/x10 idea might be the wrong direction. He's my thought off the top of my head. Get 10 extension cords and 10 super cheapo cell phone USB chargers. Wire these 10 cell chargers to the rpi pins via a logic level converter or a voltage divider to get 3v. Label the ends of your extension cords 1-10. Label your circuits 1-???. Label the outlets 1-200. The rpi is maybe powered by a large USB battery to make things a little easier.

Now you've got a web app. As you plug in the 10 cords, you tell it which cords are going to which outlets. Next you head to each circuit panel and as you switch them off one by one you enter into the web app which is being switched off. When the rpi sees a gpio go down it saves circuit x -> plug y -> outlet z.

With 200 plugs, you do this 20 times + a few depending on reach or getting cornered.

I would argue this is even pretty economical. 10 extension cords and 10 cheapo chargers might easily be under $50. The hardest part would be the voltage divider. Chatgpt would make that webapp for you.

I'm seeing TONS of ads on Facebook for Disney, Hulu and ESPN and they are all full of comments bashing them. Eventually yesterday there were some new ones with fewer comments so it kind of looks like they were trying to clear that all out. One of the ESPN ads had comments disabled.

A load cell, an esp32 board that can sleep efficiently and way more trouble that it's worth and I think you could have something that works a solid 2/3rds of the time.

He's a massive liar. It's literally his entire playbook. He got what he wanted already by making the tweet. That's the attention he wants. The reality around whatever he said is completely of no interest to him. It's like when you make up a fake scenario in your head while you're in the shower where you win an argument or have the perfect comeback except he broadcasts his fantasy and is somehow either unbothered or unaware of the total detachment from reality.

I would think that if you want something dedicated-ish, your options would be

  • find an app that does this
  • make an app that does this
  • build a clunky camera out of a raspberry pi and write a script that does this

The actual algorithms to produce the effect are very simple but obviously with no experience, making an app or building a raspberry pi camera would be a big project.
