Ill just go back to calling it SALAMI - Systemic Approaches to Learning Algorithms and Machine Inferences..
First, its more accurate, and b) it doesnt even infer intelligence -- artificial or otherwise -- and 3. Its much more fun to say and IV. in combination really helps keep the conversation grounded through its slight humor.

Kinda old thread, but I say no, and not because of the reasons the top answers state.
So lets say Dems take Congress. What would it take to "release the files"? Make a law telling them to do it? There is already one. Impeach the AG and replace with one that works? Trump nominates the person so...
Give the law teeth? This one is tricky. Trump has shown he is not above just ignoring the courts. And who pays his fines when he does? Taxpayers. And at this point, given what has been released, who is to say the evidence even exists? I suspect its all being tampered with, even as we speak. But I mean, how are we, the people, gonna find out? And what happens if we do figure it out. Even if the people involved get locked up, that doesnt change whether sufficient evidence even exists any more. Its not like hes still around to get another copy.

This is a little older, but my reddit likes to show me week old threads.
Anyways, your math suggests being born when parents were 25, but that they were born when their parents were 30. The trend of average age when having children is younger the further back you go, not older. In other words, if your parents were born in '60, then your grandparents were more likely born in '35-'40 than '30.
Anyways, im technically GenX (though close to the line) and my oldest grandparent was born in '33. My grandfather did get involved in Korea, but obv too young for WW2.
As an interesting side note, my eldest grandparent was the youngest child of his family, so I did have a great-grandfather that joined the military during WWI, but avoided the fighting as the War ended around the same time as him making it to Europe.

You have to avoid looking away. Look at his arms or hair if you cant make eye contact, but turning your back on someone is turning your back on opportunity.
For me to realize its shy behavior and not rejection, you would have to position yourself where you can have a good look at the room but seem like you obviously arent joining in. Like alone on the side of the room and hard engaging is more obvious than chatting with friends except when a guy is approaching.
Im an old fart comparatively, but as a warning, a lot of "do not approach" is also being rejected frequently and told not to approach anyone ever unless we come across as threatening/stalking. So combine look away/shyness along with modern avoidance makes it impossible to even consider approaching...

So I play on Java. I have an iron farm and its the only farm where villagers are restricted to a single room and even then i do not use the zombie panic method.
My "dripstone lava" farm I also a stone generator (I love that water-logged stairs flow water out the incomplete side)
Aside from that, im working on building a village where villagers are mostly free to roam. No big trading halls or anything. Just actual houses and workshops. I do restrict farmers so they dont give away their food, but they do get a complete plot of land with a house. Its not complete so I dont know if my vision will actually work as I want so that's the only details for now.

New in the latest release, 3 hay bales make 4 straw beds (stackable). These place like beds, allowing sleep, but your spawn is not reset, and are destroyed on use, and, again, stackable. My daughter calls them camping beds.
icepyrox
Yeah, I think there should be some night owl mechanics so you can sleep during the day if your bed and any non-air blocks in your vicinity have 0 sky light. Or something.
icepyrox
And thus I carry a bundle with me that has 2-5 straw beds and a chest (and a rabbit foot just because). I just dump stuff out and put it in the chest while I sort enough to get a straw bed down to sleep, then bundle everything back up, maybe putting some gathered stuff in there as well, and carry on.

I forgot to add my /s. As a casual n00b that has not made it to midnight awake except once in the entirety of my current game, yeah. Wtf. Play creative if you dont want to deal with survival mechanics.
icepyrox
First and foremost: I do not play hardcore.
That said, I have mixed feelings. There's no real rewind/regression mechanic, so not sure if that's why this mod works the way it does, but the unanticipated death scenario -- creeper or fall damage or whatever -- is kind of the point that of hardcore. Like everything works the same as hard mode, so being able to undo the death kinda takes away from the whole schtick, and is kinda like "why not hard mode" (which is literally why I don't play hardcore).
So I may be complaining to complain and what do I know? Get lost casual n00b!
But that's my penny's worth.
icepyrox
Ikr! Making survival mode have survival requirements like sleeping once in 3 days... preposterous! And only if I can see the sky? What kind of limitation is that?!
icepyrox
In Japan, on the counter is preferred. Especially if you see a small tray to use.
That said, I can see some people in the US being offended just because they crave personal contact or something. People are weird and come up with weird rules.
icepyrox
I always read "personal" as in one person uses it at a time, as opposed to a mainframe or server, not as in belonging to one person
icepyrox
I felt that way for a while. I picked things up again around version 1.20.10, but have only been casual. How casual? I haven't been to the Nether since 2018. My redstone has amounted to playing around in a creative flat world called "lab"... otherwise, I've just been building a castle (I reset for 26.3 so got gate built right now) and building any missing buildings in the nearby village

In my opinion, it only gets in the way because it shows how obvious we have lost touch with the basis on which it "works".
It is based on the count of the House of Representatives, whose count is supposed to be based on population. However in 1929, Congress just said "nah, we like this weird number" and that law has never repealed. There have been 435 seats since 1912. The population of the US has tripled since then.
It is also based on the count of the Senate. It was quickly struck, but new states were originally to be formed/split when a certain threshold was met. Even without that, there is no good reason any 2% of the states (a single state) has 11.5% of the population. Even worse, combine the top 4 states (8%) and you have > 1/3 (33.4%) of the population.
Furthermore, if Puerto Rico became a state, it would get 5 House Reps... and thats based on the current 435 total to spread around.
And funny enough, if you split a couple states, add enough seats, etc., the EC still works.

Racists are going to racist. Look up how many state flags changes in the 50s as a counter to all the civil rights happening. Even further, the Georgia state flag changed to include the Dixie Cross (Confederate battle flag everyone recognizes) in 1956. In 2001, in an attempt to get rid of this obviously racist symbol, they changed it, but it was too complicated and included all the previous flags anyways ao it was changed again in 2003. And now, hiding in plain sight, is the national flag of the Confederacy, the Stars and Bars, but with the Georgia state seal added.
They are always there, sowing division while calling it something else.

You need a complete blank line between paragraphs for it to format as separate (or oddly, two spaces at the end for a simple line break)

It depends on what temp it was before and what temp the room is. Pull it out of the fridge and leave it on the counter in a sealed container will last way longer than I cooked it and have it sitting on a cooling rack exposed to air.
When i was a cook a couple decades ago it was 2 hours between 70 and 140 and 4 hours between 40 and 70.
Oh but at home? I've had pizza delivered and left on the counter and passed out 6 hours later and woke up 10 hours after that and finally stumble through the kitchen and go "oh, pizza! Lucky day!" Nom-nom-nom. I may or may not have had a slice of server rack pizza... (literally day old pizza kept warm the entire time because a pizza box fits perfectly in a 1U spot on the rack... iykyk)

Guess I didnt give enough detail. Also had straw in his mouth and spoke with an exaggerated drawl.
Pretty sure the idea was to dress and act like a rural bumpkin that just came from the fields...

I just want tonadd that if you have to hold yourself back to stick around, thats not exactly a long term goal. I mean, that kind od play just becomes an annoying itch you cant satisfy. Once you reach whatever goal you think marks the end, the itch will finally resolve and you will leave once more.
As such, the fix isnt to prolong the itch. Thats just tedious if not torturous. The fix will be to find a passion that lasts longer than "go kill a dragon".
And really, the best thing to do would be to find the enlightenment of satisfying your itch with no goal at all. Well, i mean no progression endpoint.
Look, minecraft is a POV game of a world that you live in. You live here. You can make a base for the sake of having somewhere to live, not just to gather materials. So make that dream. Make that society.
I guess you could say you were getting closer to this through the economic game, but tbh, i find such rules more of hindrance than a help ans i dont mean in a good way

Welcome to the South. Farmers are just selling their land for subdivisions and making bank. And its still cheaper than building an apartment complex..
Even Atlanta has relatively few skyscrapers for its population.
icepyrox
The Gothic architecture and mideval look and feel in most fantasy is based on European middle ages/Holy Roman Empire.
I mean, even in anime, the Catholic Church is the first Church to take a hold, so it gets largely based on that.
Jews and Muslims just dont have the level of or type of influence to compete.

This reminds me of going to a Halloween party in 2008 and one guy wore blackface and overalls and walked around saying, "Howdy, Im Obama"... yeah.. this may have earned this guy more voters...
icepyrox
Hence the blackface...
Let's see... I started the 20s with being able to get on a plane without TSA. Being single literally thr whole decade gave me lots of disposable income even if I was bad with it and thought I was always broke... oh that sweet, summer child....
I was on essentially a see food diet... i see food, I probably ate it if allowed, not this looking at thr clock and realizing ill be up all night with the runs if I so much as eat a candy bar right now. While I never could finish a six pack of beer, I've always been good for drinking a fifth of jack with a 2L of Coke and watching South Park with friends...
Not sure how much I miss the things I did vs knowing I could do without serious repercussions. I mean, 2 shots is enough to put me down for the night now. I wish I hadn't eaten the way I did, but the less restrictions were nice, ya know? Stuff like that.
