That's an idea.  I have 10gb. Do you mean a 3080 12 gb? 

For vr my 3080 is struggling. I use it daily. It's no longer sufficient. It's making me feel sick in vr as it can't get the performance to make me feel comfortable.

Cost of living isn't the issue as much as the crypto then  ai and Nvidia monopoly forcing 1000 retail cards to sell for as much as 75% above retail if you can get it . 

 pricing is going up  not down anymore.  So I'm worried that a gpu I can buy today ...is going to double by next year. 

Example...  The 5090 I was offered 2 years ago is 50% more expensive now. I checked.  I couldn't afford it then but I now know I should have sold a lung to get it...as now I'll never have a 5090.  And I'm worried the 5080 will become the 5090.

 That's what I'm worried about...  So buying now to avoid that ... :)

I use vr daily. The 3080 was aw3some until recently...but my  3080 no longer handles it well. It struggles and the low fps is making me sick.

I mostly use mods which are more resource intensive.  The recent titanfall2 vr barely runs on a 3080. Even with async spacewarp but then it all looks blurry.

And I want to finally play cyberpunk vr when that mod finally launches with motion controls without massive sacrifices. 

So i wish to make a investment on my gaming.   And if they stop the 5090 they 5080 pirces will go up ...that's my biggest fear. 

So is this a good a time as any to buy a gpu?   Even if I don't get have the pc to fully support it (but it will run apparently).

Or wait for an entire pc build but at the risk or price increases...

Can i gatecrash... I have a 3080 10 gb  and an amd ryzen7 5800x3d 3.4ghz .

I want a 5090 but that's Imposisble for me. 

So I'm looking at a 5080 aero oc  16gb  gigabyte card . Due to the cost of living , Nvidia insanity and ai crypto situation this would be my forever card for next decade etc. 

Is this also a good idea? 

And what would I do with a slightly used boxed 3080... only used for semi regular gaming for last few years. Is there a market for old cards...

but is it? i remember it was going to have practical effects and they made them and then the execs said no and the had to rush bad cgi into it at last minute giving us worst of both worlds...

has it held up 10 years on ? as it wasnt great at launch but hell i guess ai could re do all the effects. someone just redid all the bad effects of alien3 and thats awesome...and with effects if its already cgi i think swapping in new ones is ok... though i lived through the lucas star wars tinkering era and still have retina scarrs lol

i like the idea of sinden but honestly ive never got my recoil one to work with much and when i did the ui was not fun... and it had lots of issues... really would love to get it working as ive yet to find a better alternative..

the vr version! as a super fan it was amazing to be in the game and they really nailed it and its hard and scary and fun and short which is good for vr. If love the game vr is def worth your time

Yes and no. Yes because that can help if we all do it but if the system is so rigged that you have almost no choice as with amazon... then that's why we have government to step in and protect voters. Or we're meant to haha  At some point antimonopolies and regulation must kick in. This is one of those cases...

Lol Or just read it or don't.  But what you should do is be kind to yourself and check out the exploding vr modding scene. It's amazing. And so much to be thankful for.

Good as it's not for you.  It's for me and any one who loves hearing about the love of vr.

But I did thank you and the other trolls who are an important part of the vr community.

Don't  blame ai for my failings! Chatgpt would do a much better job than me and I'm ok with that.

But it's ai which has allowed vr to thrive in 26. So you can shit on ai and you should ...but ai is what's helping keep vr alive and thriving.  

But yes the ai slop pic is what it is but the rest is me...So shit on me if that's what gets you off...But you can't stop the love. Vr is Better than ever and I'm thankful for this unexpected miracle.

So much cope and lies and shilling going on here.  Nvidia is not our friend. They have very political nefarious ambitions and don't give a crap about humanity or even their own consumers.  And the lie we don't need a 5090 is absurd to anyone who uses vr. 

Any vr user needs a 5090 to be future proof. Dlss is doing all the heavy lifting right now and in theory in time could allow any game to run on anything but a 5090 should be a mandatory purchase for anyone wanting to play vr for next decade.  

The fact that they're not allowing us will mean that all gaming will be helps back and stagnate unless competition has a solution.

But the competition is corrupt and price fixing and working with Nvidia as a partner. 

Right now only about 20% of steam users have a 50 series. But only 0.4 % have a 5090. That's insane. That's a huge problem and their goal is to force subscription and rental of everything.  And watch them dabble in fascism and authoritarian politics to decide who has access and who gets cut off just as we're seeing in America  and recently even with the Russian war.   They don't just want money. They want power and all the money forever ...

Yes this 100%. And  they've said as much to shareholders. Ending ownership and consumer rights is the their endgame.  As much as ensuring they control all ai. 

For vr high end mod gaming a 5090 makes all the difference. That's the ultimate gaming experience so a 5090 is necessary so this shit matters. Shame on Nvidia for intentionally creating a them and us market as they try to control the ai market by preventing ultimately pc or ai  ownership. They want us to rent it all . That's their goal and they have been very clear about this to shareholders.
