I had a friend who threw a "sprinkle" for a second baby with the same gender less than a year apart and while most of the asks were reasonable (fresh bottles and pacifiers, convert the single to a double stroller conversion) I still think about the request for a second Mamaroo... like hey your first kid is probably going to outgrow that thing either physically or developmentally maybe hold off on it until the second arrives. But someone actually bought it soooo maybe she knew her audience lol.

Omg so frustrating I feel you even with the language/culture barrier it's like even if that's what you want you shouldn't just say that lol. I also feel like with people who REALLY want a girl they just want someone to dress up in cute outfits or buy dolls for and do the things they want to do but that's its own issue haha.

Yes! I also have GERD (and my dad has esophagitis) but it's like... just common enough and annoying enough to write it up as normal. I don't think I really paid attention to it until it got worse during pregnancy and I also started seeing people post about getting it for the first time. And then I was at a pancake place where I saw a guy drink black coffee, grapefruit juice, AND orange juice all in the same meal and that's when I realized some people live wildly different lives.
Worst thing is it's also kind of a thing in babies so like, once I had the baby my mom was like "oh you were always a spit up baby too, you're my only baby who did that" like uhhhh might have been nice to know that sooner lol.

Yeah they probably could chop the hair off peasants’ heads and get some nice quality extensions. Just because it didn’t happen in our world doesn’t mean it couldn’t play out that way in the Game of Thrones world.

Yeah mine made me do an HSG after my c section but they also let me do it in the middle of a transfer cycle so just felt like more of a whirlwind and I’d probably do it before a cycle if I had to do it again.
They’ve also been pushing mock transfers super hard and suggesting a hystetoscopy after like… one or two failed transfers so definitely worth refreshing your research on those because I feel like they throw that at you way faster when you have some embryos and you’re trying for a second.

I feel like this is the first time I’ve really understood the complex ptsd and adhd similarities, great job!

Lol VERY similar birth date here with an early April 2024 baby anyways we basically carried him around for trick or treat and I don't think we really gave him any candy besides peanut butter cups and chocolate because he wasn't the best at chewing and wasn't super motivated? I got him this Carter's sweatsuit that was like a one piece hoodie with a cat face on it just because it was comfy and people meowed at him and I swear he meowed back.
This year we've been taking him to every Halloween event we can, he loves having a bucket, will sit down and eat his candy and is super into it. Also way more interested in characters/costumes. actually gave in and bought him a Catboy costume because he likes PJ Masks and he runs around like "I'm Catboy!" and weirdly enough the Gen Z people working these events actually know who he is? I got a TON of clearance costumes last year and highly recommend it because like, there's so many halloween events and it's nice to not have to do a load of laundry every time.

Still remember last season when people were predicting he wouldn't be in any episodes like "hello do you know this show characters NEVER stay home on suspension" lol even Jo got a sewing subplot this week

Lol I am also team Lumone!!! Lucas is my ADHD boyyyy. Also would love to see Amelia be an involved great auntie/second cousin idk I cannot figure out the Shepherd family tree lol

I feel like this is the one time on the show that the characters doing nurse/PT/nursing assistant/social work/maintenance and HVAC work makes sense because I could totally imagine a high maintenance patient wanting a surgical resident to give them ice chips. But yeah the financials make zero sense lol

When "Ralph Breaks the Internet" first came out I disliked it probably because it reminded me too much of Pixel Perfect. But now it's ten years later and I have a toddler who loves the Disney cameos and a lot of the jokes that were dated at the time work amazing as a time capsule? Only downside is that Ralph is kind of a jerk for most of the movie but the overall lesson about letting kids grow up and find independence is kind of a nice one for parents.

Yeah Catwoman came out when I was in middle school AND I was a girl who played basketball at the time. And I wasn't allowed to wear makeup so I was of course very quick to write off makeup as shallow. Oh and a general love of cats and ancient Egypt. Basically if you are a particular type of person who discovers it at the right age you can understand its full potential, just this weird wish fulfillment exploration for girls but people are way more understanding of that type of movie aimed at guys.

One of my favorite ones is "Wake Up America" by Miley Cyrus because it's just SO on the nose about the environment and saving the Earth. Not that too far off from the Disney Channel Circle of Stars "Send It On" but I kind of miss when people felt more hopeful and corporations were okay with supporting things that don't always align with their interests. Idk I read a story that bots try to encourage a feeling of hopelessness to stop people from participating in the voting process at all and so it changed how I feel about little acts of environmentalism.
I also like the irony of socially conscious songs that are the PERFECT pace and vibe to play out loud in stores. Like "Waiting On the World To Change" by John Mayer and of course Paved Paradise and Put Up a Parking Lot (Big Yellow Taxi by Counting Crows).

Sometimes the only thing that helps me cope with my grandma’s death is that she absolutely loved Game of Thrones, read the books, rewatched DVDs between seasons, you name it. Anyways she died in 2017 so she never had to see the final season. Sorry for your loss but I’m glad you are able to take comfort in the timing and you are not the only one who does that.

Yeah I once cried about how my future child might be on a play date with my sister in law’s kid and asked to eat mushrooms or some sort of food I personally found gross. Pregnancy feels are wild!
But also yeah definitely an inside thought, I also had a lot of silly thoughts like “why doesn’t everyone at least try breastfeeding the benefits are so great” and then a nurse in the hospital tried milking me with her hands and I was like “oh I get it now” lol.
invaderpixel
Yeah any time I find an outfit I look mildly good in and find comfortable I fully commit to the element I like and suddenly I have a weird capsule wardrobe going for a bit. This summer it was athletic dresses and my friends made jokes about me playing tennis… give me access to a bit more money and I’d totally go mob boss wife

Not a lot of people did but one of the kids in the new Glee club that Rachel coaches in the end is actually Finneas (Billie Eilish’s brother) so that’s a fun fact.

Seconding this! Also she was doing an egg retrieval for fertility preservation and on the verge of canceling her cycle so I'm guessing it's a situation where it's not enough follicles to make an egg retrieval worth it but it IS enough follicles to cause a very medically complex octomom type situation if someone isn't thinking and hooks up with an ex. Like yes I know they've done surprise pregnancy and even who's the father plots but I think we're going to get a really messy one lol.

Yeah I'm kind of shocked by how many people liked the season 3 ending for Ted? Fatherhood is important and in most people's real life that is going to win over a found family but it felt way more bitter than bittersweet to leave them all behind. Season 4 wasn't perfect but I'm glad it exists so we're not left with that as Ted's ending.

Definitely typical daycare stuff, my guy is also bad at napping and I'd check in on the cameras when I had downtime and it would be like "ohhhhhh he's getting patted on the back for 20-30 minutes next to the other bad sleeper who is also getting patted on no wonder they don't log it obsessively." Or if he wakes up a little early they're doing everything in their power to keep him quiet and entertained so he doesn't wake up all the other children.
There's probably a good chance your kid is low sleep needs but hope you get it sorted out so you get some more restful evenings at home.

Maybe it’s like paw patrol where there’s a blue and orange cat version of the Heeler family except they are not zany and have a strict parenting style.

I never watched the Cars sequels until I had a kid but comparing them to other sequels it’s soooooo nice they don’t have contrived “what’s the perfect proposal” drama which isn’t really an issue in most relationships. Some kids movies tackle parenthood well (Hotel Transylvania 2 and Despicable Me 5) but most of the time it’s okay to just let a happily ever after be a happily ever after.
But yeah Sally is just a confident older woman who lives her own life. Lesser franchises would have a subplot about her getting jealous of Lightning’s friendship with a perky young fitness instructor and some romcom misunderstandings but ultimately the film has a positive portrayal of mixed gender mentorship in the workplace so kind of a feminist win?
invaderpixel
Yeah not to brag but I grabbed one of those holiday gift guides from the big box stores and my 2.5 year old was already pointing to the pictures and asking for things by name. Was he also upset and wanting a toy immediately meaning my idea for cheap “reading” fun backfired? Also yes.
But the generic “pointing at things they want” skill should be there before the delayed gratification day so they could just procrastinate and shop at the store closer to the actual day. Not like it needs to come from the birthday fairy or something.

Did morning monitoring for my ovulatory FET today and it is kind of hilarious how different my regular doctor measures versus the weekend doctor who just started at the clinic and barely out of medical school. Like my lining really went from 6 mm to 9.3 in one day and my follicle went from 18 to 21 mm in one day? She was so negative like "oh lining's not where we want it to be" trying to allude to maybe getting me to use a secret stash of egg retrieval stimulation drugs which are kind of super expensive and expire quickly so why would I have that on hand lol. I was kind of getting in my head about stress and illness because my lining is usually decent at ovulatory FETs and kind of got me to that headspace I was for my first two fully medicated FETs back in 2024 and constantly getting prescribed a ton of estrogen and progesterone and being asked to come back.
Now I'm waiting for my phone call to confirm labs but fingers crossed I'm at least done with the constant monitoring for a bit. Kinda wild how much more tiring it is to do it when you're also caring for a kid.
This is the most beautiful 2010s era story literally right out of a plot from Glee
