First few seasons of the blacklist are great, but it gets a bit ridiculous and falls apart in the later ones. BB absolutely sticks the landing

You make $3 / hr?
jack2018g
Definitely quite low, though it is suspicious that all the ones I’ve seen so far are nearly identical; one vertical line slightly to the left of the center, and a wider horizontal line about 2/3rds down on the right.

I graduated years ago and still have this exact nightmare on a regular basis lol

Ah I was close, it was an Apple Watch ad with 60 mil
jack2018g
No I know the original ad was 1000 songs in your pocket lol, I’m saying they did have an ad referencing that one saying 100 million with Apple Music
jack2018g
Idk what this has to do with SCU but brother, if you’re really 30 and being held against your will call the police, don’t rely on strangers online to keep you safe from your family.
jack2018g
I’m 99% sure they had this on an ad alongside an old iPod at one point

In a similar situation; my parents pay like $120/mo for cable tv, but we’ve got more tvs in the house than the max number of cable boxes they support. So they had me sign up for the streaming version of the cable service, with the same channels and price, yet insist on keeping the original service. So we’re paying $240/month just so they don’t have to change how they use the tv in some rooms.

Once old people get used to something, no matter how complicated, anything else becomes near impossible to use. At least that’s the case with my parents lol

Yeah, there’s lots of cheap, insecure, and shady smart home devices out there that people constantly buy anyway. If they’re from a device made by a genuine, major tech company like Google, Apple, Amazon, etc. then that’s a big deal.
I’m very open to having my mind changed on all this, I’ve got no horse in this race. But the “all the big companies are listening constantly to sell ads” conspiracy has been a thing forever, and I have yet to see any evidence of such. There’s been nothing more than baseless fearmongering and / or reading too deep into insecure technical architecture, as far as I can tell.
Anyway, if you’ve got the time I’d really appreciate some reference on this to learn more.

I recall several sites allowing you to look at unsecured security cameras, but nothing like this. Genuinely, please link me to this site or any references to it at all, as I’d really love to learn more.

> The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence.
Okay? This is a completely moot point then. Beyond every company open-sourcing their entire code stack, I’m not quite sure what evidence you’d want. Typically, when you’re making an accusation, you need some form of proof to back it up. Not trynna white-knight for any multi-billion dollar corporations here, but the burden of proof generally lies on the party making the claim.
edit: yea idk how to use quotes on reddit lol but is what it is

Yes, I watched all the GN content closely as this was being discovered. From what I can tell, LG just has a very poorly implemented and insecure system for their AI assistant’s wake word listening. Unlike Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant, which just passively monitor for a sound frequency that matches the wake word, LG constantly transcribes audio to find it.
While LG deserves all the hate they’re getting from this, there’s absolutely zero evidence any ambient audio or transcripts are or ever have been sent to LG for targeted advertising, or otherwise. Their ACR system is a whole other story, but doesn’t involve passively listening in to conversations.
jack2018g
Not exactly an argument lol, but let’s think about this for a sec…
The whole point of using your microphone for targeted advertising would be to make more money, right? Instagram alone has 2-3 billion users; can you fathom how much data constant recordings from all of them (plus however many additional devices each user may have) would produce? Disregard the fact that there’s not enough compute in the world to process all of that coming in 24/7, the storage costs alone would bankrupt Meta several times over.
Don’t get me wrong, they’d absolutely do it if it made them a single extra cent, but it would do just the opposite.

There’s also classes on how to use magic crystals and shit lmao, doesn’t mean what they’re peddling is true.
