Oh no! Did i not take the hypothetical shitpost situation seriously enough? Do i need a deep analysis of the emotional trauma shitposts can cause ?

jackadgery85

Lmao you can't separate it from ai can you? It would be a top tier shitpost. The exact same as if they said monkeys did it, then got everyone cheering for the monkeys, then a week later came back and revealed it was all cnc.

jackadgery85

You're obviously not up to date.

jackadgery85

Holy hell would it be funny if you revealed later that all the hand painting was actually AI driven.

Boy that would make my week

jackadgery85

ever could

Verdict is still out there. We can't prove this either way yet. Would it be a good thing if it could? Verdict is still out on that too.

currently could

Much more correct.

jackadgery85

I'm not going to take into account how busy and bright and clashing all my bright colours and textures are, because fuck ai and um yeah!

Alone, a lot of your pieces are quite interesting. Don't let your misguided hate for AI ruin the overall composition though. You have quite a lot of potential within each of these individual pieces. It would be a shame to see it just mashed together for the sake of joining a bandwagon. Let your art stand on its own

jackadgery85

That's the thing. They don't.

The same thing happened with various forms of painting, then with photography, then various forms of photography, then with digital art, and now AI art.

Hell, even Picasso's most well known style was called not art by many prominent artists and critics at the time. This happens at pretty much every single new form of art because artists are inherently pretentious as fuck (most).

The vast majority of people saying that AI art isn't art or isn't of the human controlling it were either not around for any of them (digital art, and digital photography being the main ones, obviously), or not an artist of any sort at either time or now.

The movement is largely children, who all think they have a geniuses grip on reality and are the centre of their universes.

jackadgery85

If AI can't create art, then the art it has generated is of the human instructing it. Much like the algorithmic art from way back in even the 70s (pretty sure also 60s it dates back to)

Cashout is not competitive in the way I'm used to / in the way I prefer*

jackadgery85

I fucking HATE how fun this game is.

I've got 2 kids i need to take care of, a full time job, and am developing an app on the side. My only time seeing the game for the last 4-6 months has been posts on reddit while going to sleep.

Fuck Embark for making such a good game

jackadgery85

The amount of times I've been chewed out on this sub for pointing this out is astonishing.

"Nuh uh it's only a couple stickers"

"Nuh uh it's only stickers and watches n shit"

"Nuh uh it's only the things I've noticed so far and definitely not anything else that I haven't noticed because I'm cool and anti ai and stuff, and like, i support a righteous cause or whatever, and like, ai is totally gonna go down man, like yeah, like, you totally are such a corporate bootlicker if you don't just hate it and everyone who uses it for no reason, and like, we're not a cult, man"

jackadgery85

Honestly agree that they deserve better. And yeah sorry about the quickfire assumptions and/or implications there. Just have had to deal with too many of those types of people in my line of work, who stop children from experiencing any indigenous culture.

But for some more insight, the Australian government did some work "translating" g'day into various indigenous languages a while back. You would think that someone so close to home (the actual government attempting to reconcile, along with their actually indigenous consultants) would put more emphasis on accuracy than a Swedish game studio.

However, many of the translations were direct word-for-word translations, which didn't land in (and were never used as such) the actual languages they were translated into. An example that took me a while to find was "Wunya" - effectively used the same way as g'day actually is today. The government translation was "gurumba bigi," which translates directly to "good sun [or day]." Yagera and Turrbal peoples didn't use good sun like this (if at all), and they apparently had indigenous consultants on board here. This was one of about 16 examples I found in their 4 pages of different language translations that were just flat out wrong. They also, across the three Yagera/Turrbal pages, contradicted themselves with entirely different translations for the same things.

Lotta ranting here, sorry again, but if our own government, who even employed indigenous consultants, can't get something so simple correct, how can one expect someone anywhere else in the world, unconnected with the culture to come close?

The discussion isn't ready to be ablut which art styles are ok to show other people, because people like your friend are still out here cringing at positive representation from a world away.

And people like you, whilst being so eloquent and understanding of all perspectives, aren't seeing how this discourages businesses from any representation at all. You say representation "could be better," but seem to miss that these people aren't paid to understand australian culture in its finer details, and instead, have a small amount of time to nod to any culture, and they said let's do some indigenous aus, and that's cool as shit.

jackadgery85

I have only worked with two indigenous artists so far (one gumbaynggir and one quandamuka (spelling is off the norm i think)). Neither shared a different opinion, despite making profit from their art.

jackadgery85

I work with children, and am currently based in yagera/turrbal country, but grew up in gumbaynggir country. Spoiler alert: I'm not indigenous in any way to my knowledge.

However, I have worked extensively with gumbaynggir youth (teens fresh out of juvenile detention) and elders, and have had extensive training from various indigenous culture educators around Australia (John Briggs, Aunty Jeanette Fabila, Auntie Merle Cashman, and a number of other less well-known). My great uncle has written three books about the Dharug and Gundungurra peoples, and their customs, as a related aside.

I have been responsible for our company's Reconciliation Action Plan for the past 5 years, and have spoken to many indigenous representatives from many different mobs. I've spent weeks in remote towns of Northern Territory and Western Queensland.

The resounding message from all of them (barring a couple of "angry Aunties") is that representation in any form, provided that the intent was not malicious, is far more preferable than no representation.

The issue we have in childcare is the same you have raised - uneducated, virtuous folk, or angry aunties (I can't guess at your heritage) tell us we can't teach children things like dot painting, for exactly the reasons you have quoted. And because it's time consuming and expensive to find the right contact (obviously not their fault) and research the specific art from specific country/mob and learn about all that, businesses (yes, embark is a business first and foremost. As is the company I work for) are forced to forego any representation at all.

The education, especially in 2026, is all about more representation and more education, but that education won't be seen as necessary without more representation. Where you only know dot painting and boomerangs, that's fine. Represent away, provided the intent/context is positive.

Please, please, please, go and speak to any of these educators and representatives, or go to one of their seminars (where they have them), and understand why any positive representation is better than holding off or not doing it because you're not sure which 45km² section or whatever of a country you live on the opposite side of the world of paints with dots.

The fact that Australian Indigenous culture was considered at all is so cool. Education comes next. People everywhere need more exposure to any Indigenous Australian culture in a positive light.

P.S. none of this is meant as a slight against you, just in case it comes off as that. I just am very passionate about this, and about how vilifying people for attempting is a surefire way to crush and burn the cause, and keep Indigenous culture in the dark.

jackadgery85

Do you mean the things that come into the shop and then disappear? They might come back eventually, but they are definitely timed (some of them)

Don't get me wrong I think in today's market, embark are legends with how they offer nearly all items all the time, but they do hide a lot of it and add timers to encourage fomo regardless.

They do monetise fomo to an extent, but it was far far far from my actual point. Just an additional ststement in case ol' mate "esports-doesnt-make-fps-good" decided to clap back at my previous statement

jackadgery85

Esports is the only thing that keeps an fps alive beyond the initial lifecycle and 10-20k players left afterwards. Same story for all fps games unless there is ridiculous fomo-based monetisation, which the finals also has.

CS survives because it has extremely simple gameplay that is highly tuned, and an extremely well funded and maintained esports scene. If it only catered to 0.5% of players, the audience size wouldn't be what it is. The playerbase wouldn't be what it is.

League of Legends (as a non-fps example), was able to rise up through the insane success of dota, through simplified, highly tuned gameplay and, more importantly, an insanely well funded and maintained esports scene.

Valorant (as a combination example) was able to hold, because of simple, highly tuned gameplay (cs(ultra simple fps) + ultra simplified moba) and an incredibly well funded and maintained esports scene.

If a competitive game exists, simple, highly tuned gameplay, and heavy esports investment are always what determine the life of it, along with long term player retention. If you want a playerbase bigger than 10-20k (you do, if you want the devs to continue supporting it), you need esports, even if it doesn't interest you.

jackadgery85

Legitimately isn't odd to not expand on it. The vast majority of successful fps games have the guns they have across their lifetime, with a couple exceptions.

The vast majority of unsuccessful fps games keep adding weapons all the time.

What keeps players playing is a tight balance and a well funded and maintained esports scene, with the occasional new map. See: Counter Strike.

If Embark truly wanted player retention, they would funnel money into the esports scene and build it up as big as they can, while tuning the balance to perfection. Then, they could add in-game events and new maps to please the content vacuums

jackadgery85

This isn't whataboutism either. If i raised a completely different issue, it would be. However, I am raising the very issue you brought up initially - laziness.

I didn't set up your laziness. You did that. You are the one being lazy in every single comment you type. You are just lazy. You are the very thing you are complaining about, but even worse somehow. Not only that, but you are still being just as lazy, on purpose now, because you're aware of it.

This is a direct confrontation to your main point. You can't even bother to capitalise a name or read definitions properly.

  • Lazier than a vibecoder ✅
  • Doubles down on laziness✅
  • Hypocritical as fuck ✅
  • Thinks shame and insults are how you get someone to change their ways, but can't handle it coming back ✅
  • Doesn't understand the definition of strawman or whataboutism, but will wantonly brandish them to try and win losing arguments because they've seen other redditors use the terms ✅

You are such a character. Keep it up! With this attitude, your game is going to be completed for sure! You're also going to handle feedback well I bet!

jackadgery85

Nobody is yelling here.

You're still too lazy to capitalise a single letter or use a single piece of punctuation.

Your entire point is just useless faff now. Can't even be bthered to do it to support your own argument that people shouldn't be lazy, even when caught in the act itself.

Enjoy being an angry little hypocrite the rest of your life :)

jackadgery85

You can also turn them

jackadgery85

Couple guys on my team made very similar things. Nice one!

jackadgery85

Can we not?

Can we also not do homecoming style? It was more RE than silent hill with the constant stream of enemies.
