Oh, 1000%. If it was the white football player, they either wouldn’t have confronted them or would have just made him give the item back and let him go without a warning.

I almost would rather not have seen the video, because then the argument becomes a frame-by-frame analysis of split-second decision making, when the real problem is law enforcement itself.

They are not trained properly to handle almost any interaction involving heightened emotions. Their reaction was completely out of proportion to the crime in question. And crime feels like too strong of a word anyway for a mother of a one-year-old stealing diapers which probably cost way more than they should anyway.

If employees are instructed not to chase shoplifters, because doing so just increases the chances of someone getting hurt unnecessarily, the same standard should apply here for law enforcement.

That was my thought. God forbid Walmart lose the profits on a single box of diapers. Also, they saw the car very clearly. The police could just run the plates and go to the person’s home address.

But this is America where we’re supposed to be conditioned that 5 or 6 police officers surrounding a car with weapons drawn over petty theft is normal.

This was one of my favorite quotes to say randomly when I was a kid. The whole movie is so good.

Could very easily be re-made as a horror movie.

I had to come back to your comment because something infuriating happened with my mother-in-law this weekend. We basically made her go to urgent care for a persistent cough. She has chronic health conditions, so we wanted to be sure it wasn't pneumonia. After the visit, she comes home and says, "Well that was a waste of time".

I figured they just dismissed her concerns without a good assessment, which can unfortunately happen, so I said to her, "They didn't do anything?"

She tells me they tested listened to her lungs, tested for Flu and Covid, did a chest x-ray, and "all they did" was prescribe her a "tiny" bottle of guaifenisen with codeine.

I certainly understand that some people suffer with chronic complaints that seem to have no treatable cause under the currently available science; I would never dismiss that. But it's very frustrating to me that patients can hold the viewpoint that their time was wasted just because testing and an assessment are negative, or they didn't get an answer they were hoping for.

The only thing I remember about that movie is some guy saying “Fuckin’ witch” on video, then he starts crying that the him in the video wasn’t real.

You don’t know how to treat the Cryptkeeper!

When all is said and done, what is the estimate on how long it would take Russia to return to its pre-war energy-producing capacity, if possible?

An early figure in my sexual awakening.

Patients seem to get concerned by the red numbers even when you explain that it’s nothing. I wrote a patient a detailed message about them being mildly anemic, along with some other information, and they wrote back as if they haven’t even read my message. “I’m concerned about my MCH”. Like why do I bother?

Chris (stumbles around the corner)

Marlo: What happened to you?!

Chris: Street toughs! It’s chaos out there!

Marlo: That’s a shame.

Chris: We gotta do something about this, Marlo.

Marlo (muttering): Here comes another bright idea.

Chris: I say we poison…

Marlo: Okay. I’ve heard enough. turns back to reading the Baltimore Sun

Little Kevin: Wait. Chris is right. But instead of poisoning our enemies, we mimes shooting himself in the head and then we dump the bodies in the vacant houses.

Marlo (contemplating): I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but…that’s a good idea.

I’m not sure about a standard protocol, but per Robert Caro, LBJ let Jackie Kennedy take what time she needed before moving into the White House.

jamesmango

But you are Chris!

jamesmango

Maybe he’ll meet Willy Loman during his travels.

Did you write a personal story that was never intended for public consumption and then you died and your friend published it for all the world to read and it became one of the most famous stories in human history against your personally held beliefs? DID THAT EVER HAPPEN TO YOU?!

I found out what a pum-pum was from another Reddit post about Lauren Boebert. Worlds are colliding!

My friends and I would go to the mall, wander around, eat something, and go to the movies.

Why did it take me until this post to realize that Kean University is named after the Kean family?
