There's multiple types of white blood cells, each with their own objective, in the blood, there's neutrophils which deffend the body against bacteria (mostly), lymphocytes which produce antibody, mostly against viruses, they also have the ability to move between the blood and the tissue as they wich, the big majority of them are in the lymphatic system, scanning everything passing true making sure it is safe (the lymphatic system being like the sewer system of the body, liquid that is "drained" from the tissues so if there's some bacteria or virus in the tissue it might get there... aide note, I haven't read about the lymphatic system for quite some times, soooo, I hope I didn't missexplained it, if so you can correct me), in the blood there's also monocyte which can help if there's an infection, but it's really a "precursor" of the macrophage, it has to pass through the blood before going in the tissue, when a monocyte gets in the tissue we call it a macrophage. There's the eosinophile which is SUPPOSED to deffend against parasite but... yeah, sometimes it doesn't really work, it is also higher in case of allergy. There's also the basiphile which is an alam, literally, if there's some shit hapenning, it's granulation (substance in his cell) will bring attentions of other white blood cells to the area, and he also causes inflammation and have some stuff to prevent coagulation (really small amount) since some bacteria (S.Aureus for example) like to build themself a little clot around them to protect them against blood cells.
