Don't need 1 if you've got 2 and 3.

jarail

At least I still have a little hope that BC can self-correct.

jarail

Now add rgb cables

"Build me an apartment."

Agent spawns 100 workers to build the assets in parallel. It's not hard. And they're probably saying 2-3 days for their weekly cap. I can wipe out my weekly caps for both my $200 claude and $500 openai subs in two days. It's really just a question of scale. If you have a big project, you can honestly just tell it to make sure you don't waste available usage by self-driving improvements.

jarail

Yup, much smarter to make your product the best at working with external AIs. Then, regardless of what AI people use, they get the best results having it build in UE.

jarail

The contents are all plain text and google drive can scan them. You're fine.

jarail

Yeah, I'll give you a +1 here. The H3 prompts can be so long with all the crap you're supposed to put in there. It really helps to have a skill to get it all right and consistent between clips.

jarail

Daaamn that's sick.

jarail

Absolutely, both in terms of strategic AI deployment plans and Samsung being one of the three big memory producers.

jarail

wtf is going on in BC that allowed a conservative government to win a majority???

jarail

Certainly they could do this. I doubt they will tho. 4090 is an old card. It doesn't make that much of a difference to most workloads. They'd be taking a rather big PR hit for zero actual gain. Right now security updates are extremely important. If I have to take the small hit of having this reverted to stay up-to-date, it's a no brainer for me.

jarail

I'll never get tired of eminem's deadpan humor.

jarail

Or firefighters on the outside do so to rescue trapped individuals.

jarail

If I saw that, I'd turn around, walk out, then record my entrance for easy internet points.

jarail

Thanks for the writeup. I've got a 64gb m5 pro mac mini for AI work. It mostly runs agents. I'm curious how things evolve here. For the moment I'll stick to my rtx 5090 for diffusion workloads. But I can definitely see some >32gb videos being more performant on the mac.

jarail

Yup, that's expected and depends a lot on the workload.

jarail

I've been using Sol to generate a lot (thousands) of assets. You'd be surprised what it can accomplish with Blender.

jarail

China. /s (mostly)

jarail

Cloud services are scalable. If you use 100 machines at peak, you don't need to hold them during off-peak hours. It only takes a minute to add additional VMs to the pool.

jarail

+1 that gave me a chuckle.

jarail

This is just market segmentation, not binning. They'll bin based on the number of working cores and clock speeds.

jarail

np this was worth taking a chance on for the greater good haha

Can confirm this works on my RTX 4090. Set it up today on Ubuntu 26.04, kernel 7.0.0-38, open driver 615.71.10, Secure Boot off. Built the debs from source per the README, got gpu_unlock: unlocked in the kernel log on the first cold boot, and again on a plain warm reboot after that. Stock driver loaded fine, and the card is also my display GPU, which the README says wasn't validated.

Ran the project's own SM89 issue-rate probe (diagnostics/bench) at the default 450 W cap, warm clocks:

  • FP16 in / FP32 accumulate: 331.9 TF/s (NVIDIA's dense spec for a stock 4090 is 165.2)
  • TF32 / FP32: 166.0 TF/s (spec 82.6)
  • INT4 / INT32 control: 1325 TOP/s (spec 1321, unchanged as expected)

So basically 2.0x on the FP32-accumulate tensor modes, 1.0x on the control, zero mismatches on all 270k output cells. Numbers are within a rounding error of what the author reported on their 4090.

Caveats so nobody gets the wrong idea: this is an instruction issue-rate probe, not a real world benchmark, so don't expect a literal 2x in your training runs. I also don't have a stock baseline from my own card since I don't want to bother going back to get it.

One gotcha for Ubuntu 26.04 users: the deb only ships an initramfs-tools hook, but 26.04 builds the initrd with dracut, so the module never made it into the image. sudo make install-dracut from the repo fixes that. Check with lsinitrd that gpu_unlock.ko and the firmware are actually in there before you reboot, or it will silently do nothing.

jarail

People didn’t relinquish control. It’s an entirely new system they never had control of in the first place.

jarail

Kinda goes against the spirit of a jam where the main constraint is usually time. Now it’s tokens. Who can afford that 3rd and 4th claude sub as they slop their way to the prize pool?
