Not a mechanic but here is my understanding. I think an explanation of knocking required a basic explanation of how combustion engines work:
Firstly it’s worth reiterating early that higher RON eg. 95, 98 premium fuel will not provide any benefit if your car does not explicitly require it despite how they are sometimes advertised.
An engine has multiple pistons that work together to turn a crank (just like a wind up toy) which is connected to the drive shaft that ultimately transfers that rotation motion to your wheels.
Each piston moves within a tube combustion chamber where the fuel is ignited to push the piston down, in turn pushing a crank down that is connected to the drive shaft.
Car motors are 4 stroke meaning the piston makes 4 strokes within an ignition cycle. Stroke 1: piston goes down and fuel and air are drawn/injected into the combustion chamber. 2. The piston moves up to compress the air fuel mix to create a highly combustible aerated mix. 3. The mix is ignited pushing the piston down providing power to the crank. 4. The piston moves up to push out the remaining exhausted smoke.
Each piston needs to be timed to ignite at different times to provide continuous smooth power to the drive shaft which is both turning the wheels as well as moving the other pistons at different stoke stages.
Here is where knocking becomes an issue. During the second upwards stroke where the fuel is compressed. It can sometimes self combust if the compression is too high causing a ‘misfire’ where the piston is pushed down on the crank at a time when the crank is rotating up. Causing loss of power, stress and wear as the force is pushing in the wrong direction.
The fuel RON 91, 95, 98 is basically telling you how much compression pressure the fuel is rated for. Some cars are designed for higher compression which provides more power efficiency but also requires a premium fuel.
So yeah, that’s also why they added lead to fuel as they found it stopped knocking (even though the toxicity of lead was known at the time). Fun fact; the same guy who invented leaded fuel also invented CFCs that destroyed the ozone layer. Thomas Midgley Jr. (he was killed by one of his other inventions).

Yup, a synonymous example is that it would obviously be Islamophobic to take Islamic states claim of being the political and religious authority for all Muslims at face value.

The irony is that the ones who should be hypervigilant are the ones powering through public space in a 2 ton roll cage.

I think there are a few factors at play and not a lot of preparatory info from doctors. I’ve only been on it for a an over a month so not an expert and every experience different.
initially you may have some of the more recreational effects like increased energy, speediness and euphoria. I initially thought that some of these effects were the intended therapeutic effects, but as I increased my dosage which eliminated the afternoon crash and just being on the medication for a few weeks, I found that those symptoms mostly subsided and I find it was starting to have other effects.
I would describe the desired effects as: - having a clear thought process in my communication and ideas. - maintaining an awareness of the work tasks I had to complete. - an awareness of being distracted (something I’m still working on is the impulse control. At least I’m now conscious of when I’m distracted now and hopefully the impulse control may resolve with time or a higher dose).
One thing I have heard a bit is if you’re not getting a calming effect then you mustn’t have adhd. But this is misinformed. The medication would have the same therapeutic effects whether you have adhd or not (perhaps why it’s known for misuse as a study drug). ADHD is just a grouping of related psychological symptoms that cause challenges in our modern life of school, work and life admin. There might be a number of underlying brain chemistry/genetic/physiological that cause these symptoms to varying degrees.
The risk is if windows decided to ban any app stores besides the windows store in the name of security. That is why we have steam os. So if that happened may games stores would move to Linux so that they don’t lose their revenue stream. Unity and unreal among many other game engines can build for Linux. It just doesn’t happen because it’s an extra thing for developers to maintain for such a small percentage of pc gamers. So it wouldn’t take so much to shift the support to a Linux release if windows were to try to monopolise their platform App Store like Apple does.
