I just had this happen. My cat was, exactly like yours, vomiting multiple times a day (20 times in 36 hours). My vet couldn't find cause, but she did provide medication (Multivitamin,Albipen LA, Catosal, an Anti-emetic)  in the visit that helped stop the vomiting, and then he was on pills to help with his kidneys (just in case) for two weeks. He fully recovered after the visit within 48 hours (energy, food, activity, etc). Tests didn't reveal anything, though she said there was a kitty virus going around in my area that was affecting alot of cats similarly.

the only thing is RAP's major advantage is how it subsidizes any unpaid interest every month ONLY IF you pay the exact amount of your payment and it doesn't cover interest. That's how you can stop your loan from ballooning. If you pay more than your monthly statement, you lose that interest subsidy and your owed amount will grow, not go down..

Call them - I had a similar experience in that my RAP application was denied or disappeared and if I hadn't called and asked, I would have gone unnoticed and had to pay $2k in 3 weeks. They were able to get to the issue for me and put me on admin hold while my NEW RAP app processes.

jayjaylee03

Best bet is to call your loan servicer and ask them what the issue is. No you don't have to consolidate to be eligible. Your servicer can tell you what you need while on the phone with you, or even fix the issue for you.

I was eligible for other IBR plans and grandfathered in but I intentionally chose RAP. I think it depends on your situation, your actual income AND your money mentality (and politics - the media coverage around RAP are terrible, and many people are not well educated in student loan repayments and financial education as is). The monthly income repayment scale on RAP can be a bit rough, so that's a factor. People who want the lowest monthly payment possible, and forgiveness, don't care or know how their forgiven loans will blow up their taxes (so they have to repay it back anyway), that's a factor. For me, I'm looking for low monthly payment AND to prevent ballooning/capitalisation so that the overall amount of loans and interest I pay is minimal, per my own long term financial plans. If I chose a normal IBR plan, my loans would balloon to over $600K by the time it was forgiven, between interest and low ($0) payments. If I choose RAP and make my required minimum payments, my total loans would be at $200K by the time of forgiveness...which is significantly less than what I've already borrowed and accrued in interest, at only $11/month. And of course, that's very low monthly amount b/c I'm low income right now, so as my income grows, and my monthly payment grows, that number will change. I have several other financial plans and strategies in place right now that will help me manage my income and payments to be reasonable. So for me, RAP is just the better option. It's just not like that for everyone.

People talking about 'tax bombs'....literally loan forgiveness as taxable income has been the case for almost all income driven plans since they existed, but no one knew or talked about them until now, and is the case for almost all forgiven loans, not just student loans. So that's just people newly learning is all, which is good however late.

I called them again just now and spoke to someone else. She said 'Oh boy' a few times, and other equivalents 😂 Put me on administrative hold instead of forbearance, backdated the hold, gave me much better timeline expectations as to when my new RAP application can be approved, and hopefully this whole situation will be fixed....I just have to keep being diligent and keep an eye on it. Wild.

jayjaylee03

No, none. And I had confirmed my eligibility for RAP last month with another Aidvantage rep.

I'm pretty sure the student loan servicer does not have anything to do with refunds. It's just your school. And they have 14 days to initiate the release of the funds, after that it's out of their hands on how fast it gets to you or even if.

At least from my experience and knowledge as a student....

you're overthinking it. if your resume is genuinely sparse, than you take everything you have and turn it into something valuable. if it's something you're doing, and you are still get some type of pay for it, you can call it a job. Also, like I said, hours and pay are NOT info that anybody asks about so if your hesitance is that is because of that, than it's not necessary. It's up to you, in the end. I'm just letting you know it's a valid thing to put under 'job' if you want to.

jayjaylee03

LOLLL me too! when from 'no' to 'oh' with a jump lolol

jayjaylee03

ok, i don't see how thats an issue? that is usually typical. Just be on the same page -> don't have your hours/pay mentioned. Whcih those things are normally not asked for or discussed on a reference call, so I wouldn't worry about not using them as reference.

jayjaylee03

you don't put your hours or your compesnation in your resume. those are things that new employers do not need to know. you showed up, had duties you performed, contributed to the company by doing that work, and learned/practiced skills while doing it. doesnt matter how often or for how much. don't overinflate things so its fraud, but if you feel like that's what you got, then you put it on there as a real job because it was. just don't expect to use it as a reference unless you and your 'employer/supervisor' are on the same page about also not mentioning your hours or pay, which is pretty standard not to talk about those things anyway.

jayjaylee03

if you are getting minimally compnesated, its a job. put it on your resume as a job.

jayjaylee03

getting jobs in other countries is tricky, because most countries have similar laws about who can be sponsored for a visa ie, can someone within the country do the job they are hiring for, why aren't you hiring them. The visa/residency rules themselves, especially in Europe, vary within each country but are getting stricter about who can qualify for them through employment. So I doubt it's ATS, it's (given your limited experience) probably that you genuinely don't qualify for the roles ENOUGH to be worth going through the financial and legal process of sponsoring work and relocation for, because entry level applicants are plentiful in the country you're applying for. You will be better off applying for a company of your own country (US?) who has a foreign branch that you can be allocated/transferred to.

jayjaylee03

for you, because you are entry level, resume should be 1 page, your education should be first before your experience not last, and each role doesn't need 6 looooong bullet points. shorten your summary.

jayjaylee03

have you tried themomproject.com as a jobsearch site? they specifically cater towards moms who are reentering the work force, and i have heard good things about their reputation. and they have resources on their website to help with your skills. try it and see? good luck.

jayjaylee03

When you say they used AI, what do you mean? to create resumes, edit them, or to find job listings, etc? What specific AI usage did they utilize that was ineffective?

jayjaylee03

Are you in CIIS IHL? B/c your story sounds super similar to waht happeed with their program. If you transfer, you lose the legacy status and gradplus loans.

jayjaylee03

ADHD is a disability that they do have to take into account. HOWEVER they need documentation that your ADHD diagnosis affects your schoolwork. The diagnosis alone isn't enough to get accommodations in higher education, you need specific paperwork and evaluations done, which can be expensive (but worthwhile if it's affecting your schoolwork). You should talk to your school about it (your office of disability/services, your advisor, finaid, whoever).

jayjaylee03

consolidation takes around 60 days to complete, if approved....your application, if it didn't disburse before the deadline, would never have qualified for grandfathering anyway. It's not about application date, but disbursement. I'm not sure, but if you HAD to consolidate (I'm guessing because of defaulted loans??), then you still would have had to get your actual new loan disbursements before the July 1 deadline, which I'm guessing...if you had defaulted loans, could not be disbursed until after consolidation is finished? I don't know/think that consolidation loan disbursements qualify you for legacy, just new loans. You would have had to start this process at least 3 months prior, minimum, not taking into account how long it takes for your school to process your paperwork and disburse your loans. That cancelled app thing is weird, though I'm sure I just don't know the whole story. So sorry that you had to go through all of that stress for this now. I feel your pain. Sounds like you were given alot of misleading/incorrect information about the already complicated confusing process..

jayjaylee03

CAUTION

If you pay OVER the minimum monthly amount under RAP, you will be entering 'pay ahead' status which can disqualify you from the benefits of the interest waiver and principal match that month aka the actual appealing things about RAP that actually keeps your loan balance down.

If you plan on paying into PLSF and working to forgiveness -> overpayment won't make a difference on how fast you get forgiveness....so that doesn't really seem to make much sense.

I don't think RAP is a bad program - it depends on your intentions, goals, and mindset. RAP is better for me for my goals, though maybe it isn't better for you based on your goals (or maybe it is if it's about paying the least amount over time). There ARE rules about how RAP payments affect PLSF though, so that has to be taken into account. How long until you finish grad school and you think you can get a job/enter PLSF? Have you tried calling Student Aid or your service provider to discuss options?
