Wow. This does indeed look super complicated.

Can you do one on how to monitor disk read/writes throughput and network I/O?

I'm interested in slow reads & writes and will as slow network, laggy network connections.

Since it’s a 3000 level class, is this considered a major related class? If so, can anyone sign up for it?

I had a 16" macbook pro once, M1 Pro. Never again because it was way too bulky the lug around. No more boat anchors for me. I much prefer my 14" macbook air. 🤷‍♂️

The spreadsheet program looks and acts very much like Excel. I switched to LibreOffice for my own personal use and will never be going back.

I took the survey. There are a lot of questions about AI usage.

I have created a CLI tool, shotshifter:

https://github.com/jftuga/shotshifter

  • Shift the time axis of Grafana and other dashboard screenshots to another time zone
  • tool is for screenshots you receive (customer tickets, Slack, postmortems) when you can't open the dashboard
  • Apple Silicon only because it uses Apple's frameworks such as Vision, Core Text and ImageIO

I have access to two JetBrains IDEs: PyCharm and GoLand. Can this be used along with a zig extension for either one of these IDEs? Otherwise, I assume that most others are using VSCode + zls?

I made a bugfix update to withpy.

Description: Batteries-included Swiss-army CLI using only the Python 3.14+ standard library. No pip, no venv, no third-party dependencies. Just Python! Just AI Slop, but maybe somewhat useful slop - you decide.

The final, runnable artifact currently has 97 imports. 😵‍💫

This happened on Saturday, November 16, 1996 which is the day we got married (in Athens). Happy to report we'll be celebrating our 30th anniversary in 30 days! 😊

Needless to say, we have this photo framed and hanging in our home.

What are the advantages of film over digital? I know I could google or AI this, but rather hear from people actually still using this medium.

It may be 80 screenshots and I have terrible upload speed. This also saves my commercial token usage for something more useful. I’ve timed it, and for this many, processing local is faster.

I use a local Gemini model to batch rename macOS Screenshots to a more descriptive name. These models have a “vision” capability so they can “see” what the screenshot consists of. It works well enough and is faster than uploading to a Frontier model just to give it an accurate file name.

Hence the word: possibly. All depends on the work load

Possibly more than 10 cores as well.

It provides all of the local ATL stations. $63 / month

Have you looked into YouTube TV? They have several TV packages.

What do you pay for AT&T? Also, is your price part of a bundle? I have spectrum now, but will have the opportunity to switch in the near future. I’m curious as to what they’re charging these days I would not be bundling.

This is what I have vibe-coded in Swift. These are all macOS CLI apps:

  • swiftswiss - Swiss army knife CLI tool written in Swift using only native Apple frameworks
  • mac-screen-search - captures screenshots, performs OCR to find text, and highlights or redacts matches
  • mac-audio-recorder - records macOS system audio and microphone to separate or combined tracks using ScreenCaptureKit.
  • ocr - performs OCR on an image file using Apple's Vision framework

I actually use mac-audio-recorder everyday to record meetings. I also need to frequently use ocr as well. The first three can be installed with homebrew.

Oh this is nice. I'm glad to see this finally implemented. 😃

Off topic: what programming languages are being used these days in the CS department? Back in the day, it was C++.
