People that are abusive towards service workers, especially fast food workers, are scum of the earth.

Indians are South Asian, and no lol, they experience a shit ton of hate, lol.

I'll agree lately mainalnders that visit have improved a lot. I think it's because the recent wave haven't been new money chinese that arent familiar with ettiquite. They are just normal tourists.

"Higher tier race" is a crazy fucking phrase man. I mean sure if they are racist they would think in that way.
South Asians get shat on constantly.
Some westerners only hold east Asians in "high regard" in order to disparage other groups (i.e. black people).
The reality is, people aren't a monolith, and you're gonna get white people that hate us, or white people that treat us like we are human. Its pretty fucking weird to say they see us as "Higher tier."
joeDUBstep
I'm assuming you're an immigrant/expat so the people in your circles most likely had a western/international student educational background.
A "proper" accent is not the norm at all.
Source: I myself was an international student in HK... I've definitely interacted with exponentially more Hkers in English than you probably have.
Hell, you can even just look into HK movies in the 90s/2000s and listen to some actors try to speak English.
joeDUBstep
I don't know about "more racist" but yes there is definitely geopolitical tension between a lot of different Asian countries, which can be displayed via xenophobia.
My Uncle who lives in HK still will not forgive Japan for WW2 atrocities and said he'd never set foot in Japan ever. He's never straight referred to them as slurs or anything, but there is definitely animosity there.
A lot of people from surrounding countries also don't like China because of historical and political reasons too.
joeDUBstep
I already noticed this in other subreddits too. Like come on man, dude has a blatant Canto accent when speaking English.
joeDUBstep
Dude is a prick, and sadly it reflects badly on us. Just goes to show that there are assholes in every culture.
I'm a little amused at the people trying to claim he has to be mainlander with a HK passport (dude sounds totally like a native Cantonese speaking HKer to me, the accent is very in line with it). Like come on, we have assholes too, no need to try to pretend.
joeDUBstep
Call me "Delay No More" please.
joeDUBstep
Sure I agree, definitely. But you can't ignore the fact that a lot of this attitude stems from how Filipinas were the defacto maids/helpers for the longest time, stemming from a classist attitude.
joeDUBstep
His accent and cadence is very Cantonese. Native Mandarin speakers have a different accent.
joeDUBstep
At the end of the day, reddit is just full of a lot of uneducated westerners who love being casually racist towards Asian people.
joeDUBstep
His English accent and cadence is very Cantonese, can't always blame our shitty people on mainlanders bro. Native Mandarin speakers have a different accent when speaking English.
joeDUBstep
There are a few similarities (HKers sometimes say "-lah" or "ah" at the end of sentences because it's used in Cantonese), but it's not quite the same.
joeDUBstep
This is wild lol, not true at all man. I'm from HK, this guy has a pretty typical HK accent.
The only HKers who have clear british accents would be the ones that went to international school, which is not the norm at all.
joeDUBstep
Of course. But to act like this attitude doesn't exist at all in other HKers is just ignoring the obvious.
joeDUBstep
Nope, never said that. Generalizing entire swaths of people is always a foolish thing to do, whether it's towards Hkers or mainlanders, or anyone for that matter.
joeDUBstep
The entire western world (hell even other people from the east) are also guilty of doing this shit at times.
I don't like the mainlander hate as much as the next normal person, but don't act like this is a uniquely HK attribute.
Plenty of HKers aren't xenophobic towards mainlanders, and plenty of them are assholes that are.
EDIT: Like shit bro, look at all these non-HK people trashing Chinese people in this very thread.
Jade Empire was literally a Bioware game based in a world heavily inspired by China. While it wasn't as popular as DA or ME, it was a great, albeit underrated game.
