As a WW2 buff I know quite a bit about the Nazi regime, although more on the military than political side. I know a little about the Italians, but had absolutely zero idea about the relationship between Mussolini and the monarchy. Seems a bit weird, perhaps supporting the monarchy for legitimacy purposes mainly? Kinda like the Shoguns in Japan supporting its monarchy for legitimacy reasons but being the true power? I have always found it weird how Loyalist paramilitaries in Northern Ireland really like the Queen (or King as it is now). It appears I have some reading to do...
