Narratively speaking it is really messy imo but that's all we got. Still, all of the important information that could be used in the background such as Asuna's thought and Alice's thought could be brought up more to give a better explanation, right?

Well, the first half of the episode was as hyped as I could've think and the only thing I would consider is Alice regained her right eyes. I'm sure it will be quite confusing for the anime only since there was so little explanation about it. I don't think the staff will explain it later, but, who knows.

The Ocean Turtle raid was... idk... messed and the heavy intensity of that it was gone. It doesn't feel like we're on a really difficult situation. But the little scene with Asuna and Kikuoka was fun to watch :))) And Kikuoka being so relaxed is just gold lol

Well, as for the ED sequence, A-1 and LiSA nailed it so fucking bad. It is beautiful and sad at the same time. Some of Alice scene is reminiscent of Asuna scene from the past yet overall I don't think I could ask for more and better than this for the ED.

I was thinking about Alice regaining her eyes. It is quite confusing for me even as an LN reader... why some of the important dialogue cutted off especially at that moment and before Asuna dives...

We are finally here and what a surreal moment it was. Overall, this first episode is pretty heavy with all the emotions left after the defeat of Quinella. Won't going for long reviews since I think this is a pretty decent opening for War of The Underworld.

The OP still feels a bit off if looking at the tone of this arc tbh but ED is just beautiful and sad. With the last scene with Kirito and Alice and the oncoming threats, we will be off to the war soon.

P.S. Eldrie is such a cheeky and smooth dude, I love him!
