i always make my stuffing in the crockpot! it never dries out, and i like a good, moist stuffing. I feel like the flavors just come out better too. Plus, one less thing to have in the oven!

I think the only reason she got out okay was that she only did it for a few years, five at max i’d say, and in a fairly part time capacity. It was wayyyy more dangerous than the hobby stores said.

Long long loooooonnnngggg ago (early 80s) my mom and a few of her friends got into doing stained glass. They used a product called Great Glass. It was the 80s, no one knew what PPE was, and the only instructions may have been to do it in a well ventilated place, which ofc they didn't do. But nothing about gloves, eye protection, anything.

Anyway, late one night getting ready for a craft show my mom spilled some of the color onto her robe, and it ate a hole in the fabric. She then wondered if she should be being more careful.

She didn't, ofc. But she did survive her Great Glass period with seemingly little to no health affects.

Ah, the 80s. Good times.

I still have the quest for Mickey to beat him at Scramblecoin. I tried it once, i couldn't figure it out, lost, and haven't played since.

kethryvis

Fucking thank you. It is so much easier, faster, and more accurate to check the website for the security theater of your particular postal district to find out what's allowed than to ask randos on the internet. I absolutely loathe these types of posts in my various crafting communities. Yes I can give you my experience, but that doesn't always mean shit.

As an aside, i'll often either print out the page or ensure it's bookmarked on my device so that if there are problems, I can cite their own info back at them. I have yet to have a problem, but i don't ever take it for granted.

omg i have a floofy Beau too!

I have a PILE of finished cross stitch and blackwork pieces i need to frame, but i hate framing sooooooooooooo much. So yes, i feel you.

kethryvis

Oh absolutely! I'm not saying there are no jobs that require an MA :D Just to make sure that what you want to do requires one :) If you want to go into those areas, an MA would be useful, but not all areas need them and I talk to a lot of students who want to go into areas that don't need higher degrees planning on getting one anyway.

My field doesn't, but i thought it would make me more marketable, that I take my job that seriously. As it turns out... no one cares haha. So now i'm thinking about a career shift, and if i can keep someone else from doing that, then I'm all for it :)

Good luck!

kethryvis

Sure! Hopefully I can be of some help :)

kethryvis

Oh good point.

I'm not sure what he could have done in that vein tho... we had Gina, but he was not in that type of agent, and we had Simon but he's also not a good romantic foil for CJ... and maybe a little too background to make that transition.

So i guess it just all comes back to how he phrased the request. We shall never know...

kethryvis

Well, and it depends on what phrasing he used. If he asked to be a "season regular" that would potentially put him on par with Dule, Allison, Brad, etc right? That's... a jump from being just a dude who stands in the background and doesn't talk.

Not saying that's what he did, but what he asked for, and yes his attitude upon asking it, could make a pretty big difference in how it's received.

Who knows. But he prolly should have checked himself, since he wrecked himself.

kethryvis

I'd think about if what you want to do requires a Master's before getting down the road. I also have an MA in Applied Anthro. Do i need it? No, not really. I'm proud of it, I'm glad I did it, but honestly I didn't need to spend that money or that time (or mental health) to make progress in my career.

If you can save yourself the time/money/stress and still go in your career where you want without an upper degree, I think that's something to consider.

(I joke that my job now is talking people out of grad school. It's not, really, but I do consider it important to really think about if grad school is something you NEED. It is not just undergrad writ large, and it's very soul sucking. So it's really something you should only do if you can't get where you want to go without it)

Also season ticket holder (go sharks) and i have never enjoyed a game when kids sit near me. One almost hit me with his rally towel, the girls always shriek (esp now with WillMack sigh), my seat gets kicked on the reg, and one time a group of teenagers spilled their BBQ sauce on me and wouldn’t fess up. The adults who spilled beer on my seat fessed up immediately and were SO apologetic.

Tho my fave is still when i stood up to clap when the boys came on the ice and the mom behind me asked me to sit down because they couldn’t see. Okay. Team spirit not your thing, got it.

I hope you enjoy the game anyway despite them!!

kethryvis

I've heard from some folks it has, but some folks are still pretty happy there so ymmv. I left them long ago because I was getting frustrated and moved to Sunnyvale Cat Clinic. They have some sort of PE affiliation but it seems to be the "good kind"? Like it's a PE that is focused on vets, run by vets, and you still have a bunch of autonomy in your clinic, but you get the benefits of a larger org (cheaper drugs etc). That said, their prices have gone up recently, but i love my vets that I followed there from the Cat Hospital so whatchagonnado :(

kethryvis

My neighbor told me she heard from Dr Shanker directly that he sold to PE.

Maybe she got it mixed up, i hope so, i hate to see another vet get sold out to PE.

kethryvis

They got sold to PE about a year ago or so.

kethryvis

i'm just here to say i'm with you. I am also old, and i actually like the story of the game, and all this min/max'ing and seven thousand systems makes my head spin. It's so overwhelming, it's hard for me to enjoy the game. I just want to play the season, not deal with a thousand other THINGS.

(also i really hate the undercity like a lot a lot.)

kethryvis

I like the overlay. I think it's fun. I'm not a big Haunted Mansion fan... it's fine, but i don't go out of my way for it. With the overlay I will. Or at least, I'm more likely to.

I do think it goes up a little early. While the movie does take place in Halloween Town... it's obviously a Christmas-themed movie. But whatever. The only reason Christmas doesn't start in September at Disney is because of Halloween which starts in July or something.

That all said, I don't like it enough to put up with all the damned bellyaching that goes on every year when it does go up. Everyone seems to think they're the first person to complain about the overlay, when it goes up, how it ruins the attraction, etc etc. I have yet to hear an original argument.

If you don't like it, that's totally fine. It's your right to believe that, talk about it, etc etc. But this has gone beyond being a dead horse beaten to a pulp at this point.

kethryvis

I stood up one game to cheer the guys coming on the ice and the people behind me asked me to sit down so they could see. Uhm. A little team spirit? We used to have the entire Tank on their feet when the boys came on the ice.

kethryvis

iirc Amanda was in the business prior, it's how she met Brody.

I don't think PAC's wife was in the business before or since so I doubt she'll take a job with AEW. But I'm sure Tony will do something to ensure she's okay.

kethryvis

You phrased it perfectly!

kethryvis

He got up on that turnbuckle and i was sitting here going oh please no will, don't do this. Pull the 450 instead.

Then he did it and did it so well and i burst into tears. For like the millionth time tonight.

Well done, everyone.

kethryvis

I remember when he showed up at the presser announcing AEW and 1) being hyped as fuck, and 2) realizing omg he really does just show up everywhere in full gear. I always loved that character touch.

kethryvis

This vid is so great. They stripped out the commentary so you can really just enjoy the matches and moments.

So many I remember, a few I forgot, all of them amazing. Damn I miss the Bastard already.

kethryvis

CJ: You're a snob.

Bernard: Yes.
