You must be a joy to work with. Glad I'm not your colleague.

Otherwise, I agree with everything else.

Oh man, if only it was just people driving in the left lane. I drive in the right lane because I drive the speed limit. I cannot begin to tell you how many pavement princesses will drive up onto the ass of my car so much so that all I can see in the rearview mirror is the bright lights and grill only to have them follow me, honk at me, flip me off, and eventually go around and ensure they get as close to my front quarter panel as possible. And the kicker of all this - the other lanes to the left were clear and available for the asshat to use at any time of their choosing.
The problem isn't just the left lane - any lane can become a conflict and everybody seriously just needs to chill out.

So...
People who didn't vibe code their project are to be penalized because of others who vibe coded something and had "keywords and phrases" in their title?
I mean, I get the "aLl Ai Is BaD" sentiment, but this takes it just a tad too far in my opinion. If I ever post a project of mine here, I already know the very first comment will be that it is vibe coded, even if I have never vibe coded in my life.
Let us call this what it really is - "I don't like other people using a tool to do something so I am going to be as toxic as possible about it."
I'm ready for my down votes. :)

Hey, at least my dead mom is still getting some. Good on you for finding a woman who doesn't fight back! :)

The doener kebap stands and the little imbisses you could find along the road were just amazing.

I remember a time when the best gear in the game was crafted. I wish they would put THAT back in the game.

Huh. My 800+ credit score would beg to differ. I only use credit cards and they are paid off in full every month. Never needed to carry a balance.
Want a good credit score? Pay your bills in full on time.

Hanlon's Razor: Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.
There could be any number of reasons why they made this mistake. They could have been tired, confused, careless, and many other possibilities.

Do not buy an expensive IPv4 address block on the transfer market. IPv4 addresses are rare and cost many Euros.
You can get a standard /32 IPv6 address allocation directly from RIPE. This allocation has no extra transfer cost.
Build or expand your network with IPv6 now. This gives you these advantages:
- It removes Carrier-Grade NAT (CGNAT) bottlenecks.
- It improves routing speed for mobile and broadband users in Europe.
- It prepares your network for future requirements.
Do you need IPv4 access for your existing systems today? You can rent a small IPv4 prefix. You can also use a proxy server at the edge of your network for a low cost, while your core network operates on IPv6.

Progressive Insurance.
I was never a customer but I got my identity stolen and the thieves tried to buy multiple vehicles. One dealership, while trying to ascertain if it was really me purchasing the vehicle required proof of insurance. The thieves got Progressive.
When I received the bill, I contacted their fraud department to report the issue, complete with my FTC documentation, the police reports (multiple jurisdictions), and a letter from the car dealership that I had never purchased the vehicle. Progressive refused to cancel the debt. I told them, given the wealth of evidence I had provided them, that if they wanted the money they would have to sue me. And I told them if their fraudulent "lack of payment" ever showed up on my credit report, I would take them to court myself.

Thank you so much for this. I really appreciate you walking me through this as it clarifies some of the confusion I was experiencing.
Again, I expect this is all due to me learning and being unfamiliar with the language. I don't mind the digging, but it would be nice if the examples were a little less simple sometimes...
But, I'm learning and I'll get there. :)

Too Many Linked Lists
Thank you for this reference! I had not seen it before so I will be looking into it as data structures are necessary in any language.

Partially. Getting the data into the HashMap was fairly straight forward. Getting the data out of the HashMap so I could mutate it was challenging - partially because I didn't understand the closure aspect of using entry(). And trying to use get() or get_mut() in conjunction with contains_key() was just painful for me. And here is where looking at the docs (std docs, Rust by Example, the Book, etc.) made me feel like I was chasing my tail.
I finally got the closure working - the solution was to add a block {} for the fields which needed updating. I think it was a stack overflow which helped me with that one but finding that solution also took a lot of time.
I agree, the issue is most likely an unfamiliarity with the language which is why I intend to persist with it. I will complete my project and I have a second project already waiting for me after this project is completed which I think will help me build on the foundation I am building right now.

How are you learning Rust with AI writing your code? I mean, you put untested AI generated code into production. You essentially asked to get bitten and it sounds like you are really learning AI properly.
If you want to learn Rust properly - stop using AI as a coding crutch - use it to check what you have written, plan out the implementation details, etc. but code it yourself.
If you must use AI because your company requires it (I hear they exist - not seen one in the wild myself - but YMMV), then use a test driven development approach to any AI code generation. If you don't know what test driven development is: No code written/generated until there is a failing test written/generated.
Using the test driven development approach, the tests must test a missing environment file if it is required - or an incomplete one (because things get forgotten).
Tests failing at the beginning when no code is written/generated are good. Tests failing after adding something or refactoring means you broke your program - or your AI did - means you don't push it to production because it is obvious it is broken.

I'm sure others have commented this already - but find a project you want to build. Find something which interests you - perhaps something you will even find useful (example: I am a network engineer and am learning Rust - so I'm building a TUI network monitor in the same style as ntop or bandwhich without looking at either's codebase).
Now, I use AI - but not in the way you probably think: AI does not write any of my code - I write it and I solve the problems, but the AI helped me plan the tool and critiques my code. When I have a problem, it gives me hints where to look without being specific. I've actually been seeing successes and I'm starting to grasp things which frustrated me when I tried to learn Rust 3+ years ago.
Don't get stuck in tutorial/course hell - build something! It is the only way to truly learn - but don't let AI do it all for you like so many others do - use it as a tool in your toolbox just like you would use an API's documentation. Lastly, be prepared for a lot of reading, learning, and frustration - but the learning is worth the battle.

When I am learning solo (I do not program in my daily job), I will write the code completely without AI assistance. Then I will have the AI review my code as if it is a senior software developer. The AI does not do any coding at all, only critiques and offers improvement ideas. I then refactor the code and run through the process again.
I have found this learning style beneficial because I am still writing the code and solving problems - but having a "second pair of eyes", as it were, is also beneficial as I do not have that in my current job.
Edit: Sometimes I grammar gooder than others.

Honestly, back before COVID when most people actually obeyed the speed limit and the police actually cared about enforcing traffic laws, everybody would be going 45 and those lanes weren't so bad. Now, everybody is zipping through there at 65 mph+ changing lanes like they are in some NASCAR race...

Holy shit. Now I know what I've been doing wrong with my piloting - I thought you had to constantly hold the keys to go forward/backward... No wonder I kept flying straight into the ground...
