Good multimeter for a teen. My 15 year old grandson likes to take old electronics apart and try to figure out what’s going on. He was looking at Kline multimeters at Lowe’s tonight and wanted to get one. What is a solid but affordable one that would be good for him? (self.ElectronicsRepair)

C0 at 16 hz is insane to me. Do you have to use an 18” sub to play that?

E0 is going to need a BIG string. 180 on a 37” Dingwall. Bigger on a shorter scale. I have gone down to Ab/G# and that is usable for big whole notes, but really floppy with the strings I have. (30 lb-ish)

For driving 8th notes or faster, gotta max out the string size and tension.

I really like the Waze app. Best used linked to CarPlay. Not only will it help navigate and alert if the popo is around, it will show what the speed limit is wherever you are driving.

kirk2892

Yeah I kinda simplified that. It may sound simple, but it isn’t always so. Takes a lot of practice to do it automatically.

Muting open strings is one of the biggest struggles for new players.

I have a boss pocket GT. It is awesome. Might not meet your definition of cheap.

Here is a used one on Sweetwater.

Mute higher strings with your fretting hand and lower strings with your plucking hand. When I say higher and lower, I am referring to the pitch of the strings.

kirk2892

Welcome to sympathetic vibration. You are going to work on your muting technique. Every sting you are not playing needs to be muted with left or right hand

I have one that the g string is too close and when I get up close to 12, I have to be very careful not to pull it off the side. Makes a horribly distracting noise. I would see if you can adjust the bridge.

kirk2892

I use one to get the sound I want through the DI into the board. Play with in-ears on a "quiet stage."

kirk2892

Get the lightest 5 string set and throw away the G string and tune up 1/2 step. Should be fine.

Sweet looking bass. I’ve seen them online but never played one. Peavy makes some great basses but don’t get as much love as some other brands.

Is th grind as heavy as it looks?

kirk2892

Big.

Kallium shows a 168 having 35 lbs of tension. And a 160 having 32 lb.

Below 30 is a noodle.

kirk2892

Duh captain obvious.

kirk2892

No. Your 130 will have about 20 lbs of tension at F# on a 35” scale.

kirk2892

Yeah, a 6 with wide string spacing can be a plank. My Ibanez SRF-706 is pretty comfortable. I think it has 14mm string spacing though.

Which 6 string do you have?

kirk2892

The answer to buying a new bass is always yes.

Why stop at 5? Get a 6.

kirk2892

Not Eb major, you are speaking of the H scale.

Yeah, made me think that I want a toggle switch to manually activate my backup lights for tailgaters. :)
