I like MotoGadget mirrors with Rhino Moto adapters. Lots of different styles of mirrors to pick from and they're glassless polished aluminum for safety. The other good option is the OEM Guzzi bar end mirrors that come on the current Sport and some other models.

I had a weird interaction about this last week in the inner sunset. For a few days I'd been parking my motorcycle in a space between two driveways too small for any car. One night I was just sitting on my bike after getting back, doing something on my phone, and the guy who lived in the apartment got back. He asked "hey have you been parking here?" and I said "yeah sometimes". What followed was a 3-4 minute crash out where he just kept rambling about how I was free to park anywhere I want but him and his wife liked to block the driveway in and park across it. But he kept saying "you have the right to park anywhere" alternating with "but if you can park anywhere else" every few sentences. His brain was short circuiting about the fact that he wanted to be entitled about that spot but he knew it wasn't a nice thing to do. He realllllly wanted to tell me not to park there but without feeling like he was being the asshole. He just kept rambling while he was parking (on the sidewalk) until he just trailed off and went inside.
Then I kid you not a few minutes later the woman who lived in the other apartment and the other driveway got back and asked me to move so she could park her driveway in and just "change real quick".

Northern NH and Maine are IMO underrated parts of the country. And I'm from Vermont!

There's one for sale near me and even though I'm not a cruiser guy and it wouldn't be a good bike for me I still can't stop looking at and wondering. It just looks so damn good.

1 feels very normal and standard to me, maybe it's not to other people. But 3 is absolutely about supporting the business. Cafes have overhead, pay rent, salaries. That table costs them to maintain and when someone sits at it for a ridiculous long amount of time while spending almost no money it means less new customers can come in and patronize the business.
kowalski71
A lot of cafes have signs saying "please order before finding a table". When that isn't the norm it's just a mad rush. And then if you're already in line and a table opens up then you have to either give up your spot in line to get the table or someone else will walk right in and take it.

I thought about including this one but I guess what's the difference between two people having an animated conversation for an hour vs hearing one half of that conversation on a video call? On one hand it's not like coffee shops should be silent but on the other hand seeing them used as third spaces for IRL face-to-face communication definitely feels better than video call dens.
Curious to hear the general consensus on this one.

I have a Griso and a V7iii. The Griso is just a massively bigger bike, it feels way more heavy than the spec sheet implies.
I have dreams of picking up a salvaged V85TT and putting the motor in a V7 frame, I really think that would be such an amazingly sweet bike.

It's honestly a classic like a '57 Chevy at this point. I'm kinda sad I sold mine but couldn't justify keeping it.

I agree with a lot of the comments here. I've been getting back into MotoGP this season after last following it closely almost a decade ago. It's really striking how much less personality the riders are exhibiting. They sit down for the press conferences with PR-approved notes, they're quite stiff and controlled. I feel like I can count the number of times the riders' real personalities have shown through this season; Pedro laying the bike down in Austria, a few of Bez' celebrations, and honestly Ai can sometimes get hilariously honest in interviews. But overall it's been slim pickings for trying to get a feel for these guys and see them have fun with it. I don't think this kind of forced commercial publicity BS will put them any more at ease.

The best thing about this video is how quickly Thomas goes from annoyed to genuinely happy for James and excited that he gets the Alfa thing. Such a good friendship there.

Even with the most perfect and encouraging housing policy how long would it take to build new housing? Years, right? Longer for high density housing. So sure build housing. But that's not an answer to the issue with how quickly a landlord can raise rent and how slowly the market can respond.
And if you're saying to build SO much housing ahead of the demand that the supply can absorb any temporary spikes in demand then you're just asking developers to wildly overbuild and put up a bunch of units that will either be vacant or rented for too cheap for like 4 out of 5 years until SF has another boom. And why on earth would they do that?

Oh man this reminds me of a similar story. About a decade ago I had a woman pull out in front of me while threading through stopped traffic. Nosed out into the left turn lane, where I was doing maybe 20-25mph and I went right over her hood. She gets a ticket for reckless driving and decides to fight it. So I get called in as a witness; put on a suit, take a half day off of work, go to the courthouse with all my documents. She doesn't even show up to the court date she requested which means there's now a bench warrant out for her arrest.
The part that makes this hilarious is she was a clerk at the local motorcycle accident law firm. You know, every city has the local firm that advertises as being the best friend to riders and how they have your back when someone causes a crash. In this case it was Sam Bernstein in Metro Detroit. So not only was it a bad look for an employee to cause a motorcycle accident but despite working in the legal profession she managed to mess it up and get herself a warrant.

I've been thinking about this a lot recently for a lot of reasons. People in this comment section are saying "hey that's the free market". But the thing that frustrates me is that landlords can respond instantly and aggressively to (real or perceived) changing market conditions. Their costs aren't changing, it's not like their mortgages or the cost to originally build the building went up. But they can almost instantaneously raise rents. Meanwhile, everything else in the system that can respond is painfully slow. Building housing takes years, salary increases take months, legislative action may never come. So even though I'm not a big fan of regulation this is an obvious case where there's such a time constant mismatch that I think we need to address this with some structural changes.

Up to you. More money for new gear but I don't think you'd be giving up any safety to buy quality used gear.

MotoGuild on Treasure Island has a pretty big selection of used and consignment riding gear, though no helmets.

I'm sorry but if a bag isn't SemVer compliant I'm afraid I'm just not interested

Tons of benefits every which way. BMW made the same rotation on their twins as well. I suspect the largest reason is in the name of the new engine architecture: Compact Block. They shortened the whole package by 100mm/4". Pretty significant.
Purely aesthetically I agree that it doesn't light me up like the older stuff. But we also have to let Guzzi continue to stay competitive in a stringent environment lest they go out of business making esoteric bikes that only a few of us would buy (and we're all busy buying old Guzzis anyway).

Some would say that any V-twin Guzzi is new school :)

Try switching to a Pirelli next season, might help

I ride the passes here regularly above 11-12,000 feet without hint of power loss.
That's not at all how physics work. I worked as an engine calibrator for a car company and drove passes in Colorado in dev vehicles specifically to quantify the power loss due to the lower air density. Maybe you just never crack the throttle enough to notice it.
Also the entire post was a joke.

The original motorsport aero discs (actually called aero fans) were designed to pull air across the brakes to cool them. So they would actually hurt efficiency since you'd be using some of the power of the engine to pump air around. I'm not sure if Rotiform designed theirs for brake cooling or if they're just passive aesthetic additions.
But look up Moon wheel covers, those do increase the efficiency of electric vehicles since that's what they were designed to do for top speed racing at Bonneville. The original Moon Speed Shop in Santa Fe Springs CA used to have a program where you'd send them your Tesla hubcaps and they're add discs to them.
Pedro on a good bike and in the same team as Marc will be an absolute hoot to watch. Their dynamic plus his talent on Duc machinery will be a dynamite combo.
Martin going from possibly winning the championship to one of the least competitive machines on the grid is something. I know that Yamaha has given up on their current bike and are going all in on the new bike so maybe this is gonna be the 4D chess move of the grid, maybe he knows something about their 800cc machinery.
