I love R.E.M. but the rap in Radio Song is embarrassing.

The worst part is that PayPal takes 3% when they do the conversion.

I did a task today and a couple of hours later I see someone on slack talking about the R&R they just rated BAD, and they very specifically described my submission. 😟

Now that the boring part of the NRL season is over (the finals), we can finally get on to what really matters - categorising teams based on how many legs their nickname has. All 17 teams, I'm sure you will agree, have namesakes with either zero, two, or four legs. The burning question is, which category is the most numerous?
Now before we dive into our statistical analysis, let's pause to do a vibe-check. Without counting, which would you expect to have the highest count? Go on, think about it, but no enumeration!
If you're anything like me, then intuitively you may have guessed that our four-legged friends would be triumphant. After all, most teams are named after animals, and animals have four legs. Using the power of mathematics, the time has come to test this hypothesis.
Zero-legged clubs first. Surely there aren't many of these. We have a few aquatic animals, namely the Sharks, Dolphins, and Eels, so that's three off the bat. And, like most weather phenomena, a Storm tends to have no walking appendages, so that brings the Zero category to four. Obviously this is an under-representation in a field of seventeen, but we must press on. (Note: while Nathan Cleary currently has zero legs, he isn't officially the Penrith mascot, so unfortunately we cannot add him to the list).
There are a handful of two-legged nicknames, since quite a few of our teams are represented by human characters. Count them with me now. Starting with non-NSW teams, we find the Cowboys, Titans, Warriors, and Raiders, all with two legs. Looking within the state of NSW, we can add the Knights to this list, making a total of five human nicknames. Except, no! Pedants among us will correctly argue that although South Sydney have an adorable four-legged bunny rabbit on their jerseys, a "rabbitoh" was actually a human seller of rabbits, therefore adding one to our Homo sapiens tally. But, my friend, the bipedal category ends not here, because, as leading ornithologists agree, all bird species have been endowed with two legs. So we can add to this category the premiership-winning Roosters and also the non-premiership-winning Sea Eagles. This brings our two-legged category up to eight, which is more than a third of the total.
This means we have thus far accounted for twelve teams. Now I know that most readers here aren't mathematicians, so rather than using a complex formula to subtract twelve from seventeen, let's continue to count to discover the number of four-legged clubs in our great competition.
Interestingly, there are almost no quad-legged nicknames outside of NSW. Only the Broncos have taken on a namesake with more than two trotters. This is a bizarre anomaly which I'm sure is high on the agenda of CEO Peter V'landys. Pressing on in spite of this, let's dive in and take a look at our teams around Sydney: Panthers, Tigers, Bulldogs, and Dragons. That's it? Just five four-legged teams in the whole of the NRL? This is only one more than the puny zero-legged clubs, who not only have an inferior number of legs compared to other sides, but they also make up the most insignificant group. What a shock finding!
Enthusiasts of front-and-back-legs, however, will find some solace in the upcoming introduction of the Bears. To save you the trouble of counting, let me assure you that bears are indeed animals of the four-legged kind.
So, from next year, the final tally will be:
ZERO LEGS: 4
TWO LEGS: 8
FOUR LEGS: 6
From this, we can clearly surmise that the NRL agrees with George Orwell in believing "Four legs good, two legs better, zero legs shit-house" (paraphrased).
Now you are probably thinking at this point that surely the NRL will address this imbalance with any future teams. Well, unless you are a two-leg aficionado, you'll be both shocked and disappointed when you consider the leg-count of the PNG Chiefs. Now I'm no anthropologist, but after consulting with some, I have been told quite explicitly that the vast majority of traditional Papua New Guinean tribal chiefs possessed precisely two legs. This will bring their total to a ludicrous NINE.
How can the NRL get away with this? How do they continue to allow the Big Two-Leg lobby groups to exert so much power over our game? Where is the Royal Commission, Albo? Should we expect the twentieth team to be the Brisbane Brolgas? The Wellington Welders?
Where will the madness end?

It would have taken you less time to just click "Join" on slack than it would have taken you to write this post. What was the point of asking this?

The bunker tonight is being manned by a brain-damaged squirrel suffering a HIA, so I guess you can understand that decision.

Star Trek Review?
kranools
Of course we can say "seven people".
kranools
Just did the paid Star Trek qualification - three and a half hours worth. That case study had so many issues, I keep thinking I must have missed some. I really wish I could see a 'perfect' solution for it, just for my own interest.
kranools
Have you considered that you might be insane?
kranools
And then you ask on slack for clarification but it gets ignored.
kranools
Did you actually read the non-disclosure agreement that you agreed to?

I had technical issues but I was able to resolve them by editing some settings in the BIOS. Try to investigate the reasons why it isn't working - it might be solvable.

Yeah, ratings seem to be gone, which I think it a good thing. They were often inaccurate and variable.

It's the Donald Trump effect

I'm sorry your wife cheated on you but you sound like a total loser.
kranools
Yeah, I've noticed that the slack numbers went from around 110,000 in April to almost 150,000 now.
kranools
Yeah I might try this. I'm a little worried I'll break something by removing the extension from my main profile and adding it to the DAT one. Can I just transfer to a different profile without setting it all up again?
I'll test it later.
kranools
How is it even possible for the bunker to get that wrong?
kranools
Your husband is a complete loser and you deserve better.
kranools
Are you sending a telegram?
kranools
Who was that holding Cobb's foot? How did the bunker miss that?

It seems bizarre to me that some parents would bring tablets for their kids to use at a restaurant or grocery store. What?? These are the real life, real world experiences that help them grow. Little kids learn by having new experiences and interacting with the world around them, even at mundane places like the grocery store.

I often write my full rationale in Notepad and then paste it in to the text box, just because the DAT task pages are so slow and laggy.
There are a small number of project families where they are trialling giving feedback. It is provided at the end of each month and is entirely generated by AI reviews and AI summaries of R&R tasks on your work. There is no input from actual DAT workers. IMO this makes it close to useless.
However, for the majority of project families you will get no feedback at all. If you keep getting tasks, that means your work is acceptable. There's your feedback.
