Damn man you're doing pretty well! Keep saving and wait until rates drop.

25 is unusually young for buying a home. The market is also awful in nearly every way. Patience and savings are the best but painful strategy. But the payoff will be great, because you'll be ready to buy much better than others in your generation as elders start selling after retirement.

You just need a parking lot somewhere else to use for 10ish min. Like a wal mart...

I've got a helite clip-on for the street. It's only gone off once when I forgot to unclip it when stepping off the bike. It's an annoyance.

I've also get a Tech Air Offroad. This I've set off 4 times (rally training, and rally racing). Works like magic. Make sure your jacket has extra space for it to expand, or it'll expand inwards into your ribs. It hurts. Charge lasts for days, and there's an app to double-check stuff. Generally I'm more confident in the electronic ones for going off at better times than the tethered one - I might get hit before the tether's pulled, and the tether already prevents me from standing on the bike comfortably.

Generally I like my combination. When I'm going offroad I'm usually in a solid prep phase first, charging an inreach, the vest, packing, etc. When I'm on the street I've found some errand that doesn't require any more space than my butt, and I'm jumping on the opportunity quickly. I don't want to worry about charging then.

I had an extended warranty through Continental for my LR4 that I bought through my dealer (CPO). It covered stuff (lower control arms) that my LR warranty didn't. It paid for itself on that alone!

Ah gotcha. I think your best approach from here is to hit up support for what to do over ssh.

I never paid more than $75/month. But my PhD wasn't in machine learning.

It's all up-front investment. A lot of this stuff will last 10 years, and the rest at least 5.

I've got two pairs with aramid, but no slides yet.

Just to cover the obvious issues first, have you tried the update after the battery is charged? 2% may trigger a "don't update on low battery" rule that may not give good diagnostics back.

When you go in for brakes, ask for a separate assessment of pads vs rotors. My dealership wanted to change the rotors just b/c the pads needed changing. The rotors, by their own assessment, were fine. Saved me nearly $2k in leaving the rotors alone.

Look at renting the compute time off of Amazon or another vendor. Sometimes it's cheaper than you to think, and avoids the problem entirely.

This. Your Wi-Fi may have to spend more power transmitting to a distant wifi station (or through a lot of interference).

Yes I paid $7 a diesel gallon, at 6mpg to get here, and yes I can't afford groceries this week to get here. Yes we're at war. Yes we're supporting a genocide. Yes pedos are living their best lives.

BUT, at least some boy dressed as a girl isn't peeing in a stall in a girls' bathroom.

I think you've been desensitized to the shitshow windows is now. My son's windows gaming PC was a nightmare to support. The games on this machine were just Roblox and Minecraft, nothing else. It just stopped supporting the video card that was installed in it. It regularly had problems that only went away with a reboot. Regularly failed to sleep. Crashed often.

Slapped ubuntu on the thing, ran Sober via flatpak. Installation was super smooth - everything was auto detected and it just asked me my wifi, time zone, and what part of the disk to use ("ALL" was my answer). The only thing that machine ever needs is a software update to catch up on new Sober nonsense. Dead reliable.

What languages are people hiring for where you are? Learn one of them.

Just ask him the numbers, verify, and make the choice yourself.

1: How much BTC did he end up buying?

2: What were the fees then, and the fees now?

Because yes, some fees were paid when buying BTC, and fees will be paid when selling that BTC. So you didn't get (3600/86000) .0406976 BTC. You got some smaller amount after fees. And when you want to sell that BTC back to dollars, you'll get less than that back again after fees. Same as when you buy stocks or exchange USD for EUR. That's how brokers make their money.

So, ask them the fees paid / to pay, and the amount of BTC actually purchased. Either he will tell you or not. Don't expect the full $3600 just when BTC is back to where it was - fees cut away at that.

You're asking here, so you're probably smart enough to understand fees. Perhaps your friend doesn't want to disappoint you with an overall unprofitable investment. Shit happens.

But I don't understand this "money has been stuck for so long, the app keeps charging fees and adding them up" part. It smells like he's leveraged the trade and lost a lot on it.

with electrics, I think you can be a bit more lenient on mileage.

Why don't they put fuses in the consoles? Circuit breakers? Basic 20th century safety tech?

If you feel like you're having trouble doing too much risky behavior, you've probably got a demon or two to still defeat.

Until that's sorted, put some money into good life insurance and a good airbag vest.

Yes damn you that's gorgeous. Enjoy!

Yeah a used tesla is in the price range and has so damned little maintenance.

The most important thing you can do is practice pulling the clutch when the bike is moving too fast. If you can completely avoid whiskey throttle (by pulling the clutch before you launch off), you've avoided 95% of self-caused injuries.

Drill in parking lots. Find times of day when there are few cars and go to low speed empty roads. You'll notice a lot more bikes on Sundays for this reason. Ride there and build up your confidence and comfort.

Drill in parking lots. You need to practice the stuff you won't do often enough riding normally.

Drill in parking lots. You'll find that while riding is more fun than driving a car, both can be a bit boring. Finding challenges in your skills, during drills, makes it all more enjoyable.

Meh, they're projected outward at what, 30ft? It's about as obtrusive as reading a road sign.

Anything to fix the horrible UI on comm devices. I hate pressing combinations of buttons I can't see to guess at wtf it's beeping about.
