It belongs in a MUSEUM!

Watching it for the second time right now. I agree with you. Walt is such an asshole.

Why does it say “Meets Church Standards”? What does the church have to do with that?

lastwarning

Hehehe. Came here for this and wasn’t disappointed.

Interesting, because their own voters will die out since the heat predominantly affects the old and weak.

I grew up in the GDR and went to school there. I was 9 in 1989 when the country collapsed.
I had a pretty uneventful youth. My family had a house in the countryside. I played outside a lot with friends, explored derelict buildings and did normal kid stuff. School was pretty rigid and the indoctrination was definitely there, but I was too young to recognize.

I’m very thankful that events happened as they were. Being a teenager in that country would have killed me. There was not much to do and you were more or less assigned a job that would bore you out.

If you wanted to change things you would be labeled an enemy of the republic and had to endure repercussions - such as a prolonged military service or the prohibition to study at an university.

Chances are good my life would have been miserable then.

There were good sides too. When the state is oppressive, people tend to bond together more once they trust each other. My family had friends they could trust and we had lots of dinner events together where we kids could play while my parents talked about politics and the world.

Let me know if you want to know more!

That’s alright, the town had this name during the time of the GDR (1949-1989)

I love it too. Everyone’s asleep, the city is quiet. 2-4am are easily the best hours of the day.
