The Anki decks and immersion resources I would use if I had to re-learn German from scratch (self.German) [Discussion]

Interesting how your comment is +21 while mine is now -29 when we say the same thing lol.
I'll also add that telling someone new to running to run faster AND longer is a great way to cause someone to injure themselves.
lazydictionary
Telling someone to simply run faster and longer is a great way for them to get injured.
And it's also not how you train VO2, or can see improvements in VO2.
You know what else can cause VO2 improvement? Losing weight.
lazydictionary
It's not about pushing limits. Like I said, I literally ran slower than normal and my VO2 went up because my HR was lower.
You don't have to run faster or longer to become a better runner and more efficient.
lazydictionary
Is this some dumb tautology joke? You get PBs by getting PBs?
It's still wrong, because you need to run more efficiently, not faster or longer.
lazydictionary
Are you giving training advice or telling OP what metrics cause a higher VO2?
Either way, they're both wrong. My VO2 went up this morning by doing a 5k at a slower pace than normal. (Probably because my HR dropped like 20 bpm, partially because it was so cold outside. You'll find that VO2s drop in the summer when things get warmer and HRs climb.)
The Garmin VO2 is some relationship between pace, HR, and also weight. You can increase pace relative to HR, or decrease HR relative to pace, decrease weight, or any combination of the 3 and see results.
How you actually train for better pace or HR is a different story.

What does your weekly workout regiment look like, and how consistent are you with keeping it?
If you aren't doing cardio 4 days a week, that's the first step. If you do that, you should be doing some kind of interval training 1-3 days a week, depending on how quickly your body can recover. Any days not doing interval training should be slow days.

This is terrible advice

I don't believe you can send metrics to the Peloton app.
lazydictionary
Kind of useless if you don't tell us what level you were at before you started doing your 1 month cram session.
BTW, I ran this post through Pangram, it came back 100% AI.

Regards. Regards, everywhere.

I'm sure bad drivers will change their driving habits based on a reddit post.
lazydictionary
Documentation can also be critical if people quit/retire/laid off and everyone is trying to remember how things are supposed to work.
lazydictionary
The most important things you can do as a young runner is 1) have fun 2) play multiple sports/cross-train, and 3) don't overdo it. Your bones are still growing and growing more dense, so the last thing you need is to do too much too quickly.
My uncommon recommendation would be to look into weight training, preferably being led by someone who knows what they are doing.

It's not even cold in thr northeast yet. Do you blast the heat? I've put the heated seats on like 2 times in the past month.
Different EV, but I also average 5 mi/kWh with a 50 mile total daily commute.
lazydictionary
Yes, there are lots of tools out there. Migaku is a good start.
lazydictionary
Start with easier content. Stuff aimed at kids. Make sure you already know a few hundred words already (Anki). Then slowly add more difficult content as you get better.
There are definitely tools out there to help you translate and sentence mine from subtitles and books faster and easier, but they really aren't necessary until you are an intermediate or advanced learner.
A good frequency deck with a few thousand words will be more than enough for at least 6 months.
lazydictionary
They also barely talk about technology.

The outdoor bug can also affects FTP detection as well. Double whammy.
I'm sure it's difficult to unpack what is going on in a machine learning algorithm, but like 9 months later with no updates is really fucking bad.
Even if they just brought back the old system for those who ride outdoors a lot until they figure out the bug...any attempt at a viable temporary solution for outdoor riders should have been given by now.
Instead, crickets.
lazydictionary
That part I'm actually okay with. I'd rather the training be conservative. There are minimal losses to under training for a week or two, but massive losses for over training.
lazydictionary
It's also FTP detection. They admitted that a few months ago.

Around Boston, not in Boston. Most live in NH, RI, or central MA.
If you had simply said "Get faster and be able to run longer", you would be mostly correct.
But telling someone explicitly to "run faster and longer" is dogshit advice. Full stop.
