I understand how you made this mistake, but you've inadvertently conflated together areas with wildly different cultures. The central coast, the Central valley, the sierra, the high desert ... The people living there see them as distinct regions and the differences are obvious to anyone who spends time in more than one.

Slo is often combined with Santa Barbara. It's sort of a middle ground culturally - SLO and paso Robles are central coast but morro bay and pismo are socal.

The Bay area spans multiple counties and is either one metro area or four - but every single one except San Francisco would span multiple counties. That's normal.

Gotta disagree with the last sentence, man.

This isn't about rape culture, this is about a society which has an overarching rule that juveniles cannot be treated as adults, and that juvenile justice is about rehabilitation and not punishment or deterrence.

This isn't motivating by downplaying rape or letting boys be boys, it's motivated by a completely different worldview regarding juvenile justice, rooted in the idea that juveniles are still not fully formed adults.

The administration is trying to change the rules. Someone sued, and a lower court said, until we decide if the new rules are ok, use the old rules. The administration asked the supreme Court to let them use the new rules during the trial, the supreme Court said no.

New rules can still go into effect later if the trial court finds that the new rules are ok.
