My response would be "Get in line"

Unless his investors forced him to release something

Side thought: it's interesting that they say "only child" as if it changes the ethics of the situation. Like are there people who think "it's ok to pull the lever unless it ends your bloodline"?

The researchers did not survive the AI uprising and therefore couldn't report the results of the test subjects

You thought a paperclip maximizer is bad? The real monster we must protect ourselves from is a bee fart maximizer. We ain't taking taking that risk

Money yes. But another guess of mine is that it harms the iterative cycle. Sometimes these companies think they put out something intelligent based on their internal benchmarks and then when they push their model out to the public, they learn what's still lacking or broken altogether. It's better for them to get that feedback 10 times a year with small incremental releases rather than go all in on 1-2 big releases a year, only to find out they made the wrong investments

It'll only end it in this universe. Once a multiverse episode drops, things just get worse

According to ChatGPT, around 10-84

Of course. It's just such an upward battle to reprogram that mindset unfortunately

To play Devil's advocate for a second, chasing the letter is what we're trained to do from a young age. Yes, the knowledge is what's important but that doesn't change the fact that you still want to pass classes and show off a good GPA to get that first job out of school. I remember when I finally graduated and got my first job, that's when I finally felt like I had the bandwidth to truly start expanding my knowledge and studying what I was interested in instead of simply "surviving the professors"

I prefer swapping my rooks with each other

155k conversations for one person???

So you still have to pay taxes on the income?

It's so smart, it knows how to utilize the halting problem for psychological torture

It is certainly interesting how the term AGI has evolved. Technically what we have right now IS, by definition, general intelligence. It's just isn't saving what it learns on a specific task as permanent knowledge and it isn't quite replacing employees YET. But to call it narrow intelligence feels a bit silly at this point

There's a non-zero chance that your C: drive deletes you

lezorte

I am not

lezorte

So... If you make the bot just do the opposite of what chatGPT says to do....

lezorte

The world is just atoms bouncing around

lezorte

In that case, wouldn't the simple fact of the objects being infinitely massive mean that the universe collapses into a singularity before the two objects ever have to meet?

lezorte

Simple: the maker of the machine pays out for glitches. They take out an insurance policy. If their machines have a high rate of error, their insurance rates goes through the roof. If they can't stay in business and no longer can guarantee the machines, the casinos throw them out and use other machines

Larjj and kristcoll. It's been a long time, my friends! I too wish I never brought my Bitcoin wallet onto that boat. But we were young and dumb then. Oh to dream of a world where we still had our coins!

lezorte

With sour cream?

lezorte

They made a new account and became a r/buttcoin mod
