Pergolas, what do your elf eyes see?

lightnegative

Yeah when Carls Jr came to NZ and started advertising their char broiled burgers all I could think of was "eww, boiled beef patties"

Had to look up wtf broiled was

Wait until you discover rot-13 and then double it for extra encryption

LLM's deal with this by hallucinating the number the business wants to see.

Since it looks good, and makes them feel good about their AI investment, it's instantly trustworthy and all the existing dashboards are wrong

Galaxy brain move: requesting increases on the token limits to achieve larger KPI numbers and then arguing 'exceeds expectations' at the next performance review

Their position has always been that you can't tax your way to prosperity. At least they're consistent

Seymour does things that are logical for his party and ideals.

If TOP makes it past the 5%, which historically has been a challenge, of course he's open to working with them. He's not a huge fan of National, and if he could form a coalition government without National or Labour then that would finally be MMP working as intended

Yep, I've also made the mistake of cooking lean meat low and slow, which just turns it into the Sahara desert.

Everything is a learning experience

If breadth of jobs is what you're looking for then Java will serve you slightly better than Python, anything in the Finance sector or large/"Enterprise" companies are more likely to be using Java.

If you're looking for jobs at startups, Python is more likely to be used.

That's if you have to pick one - being familiar with both is even better although both do take years to master properly and learn the idioms

No, thats 2003. 2013 kids are on MacBook's writing code that gets deployed to Linux

lightnegative

It's in the place where I put that thing that time

lightnegative

Entire marketing departments make things up 99% of the time lol

lightnegative

That's a bold statement to make on r/newzealand

Dads together strong!

Well, a revolution introduced capitalism to begin with.

I don't think Western style capitalism will be overthrown by revolution, it's just a waiting game due to the declining birth rates and need to import people from other, less capitalistic countries in order to keep the wheels turning

lightnegative

How does that work? The can with a dent in it is still sealed, right?

lightnegative

Thanks ChatGPT

lightnegative

Of course you can guess, it'll be 50/50

lightnegative

It is not. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GTK

Looks like they retconned the original acronym but my point still stands.

GIMP has never been based on qt and it's original widget toolkit became the base of the GNOME desktop environment which is a competitor to KDE/qt

lightnegative

The product of some people who looked at pandas and decided to rewrite it in Rust

lightnegative

What? Gimp is built on gtk+, gtk literally stands for "GIMP ToolKit"

lightnegative

Wait what? TIL

lightnegative

Can I talk to sales? I need a higher burn limit

lightnegative

That ideal "reduced" team you describe is still about 5 more people than my team has now lol

Yep. The biggest problem I had with sprints was that yay, you committed to a two week chunk of work. Pat yourself on the back.

Except there's a production system to maintain and on day 2 of the sprint your entire sprint is out the window because of a production issue.

Complete waste of time. Not to mention all the layers of indirection trying to size tasks that always get mapped back to time at the end of the day. Task is t-shirt M size? That's about 2 days right?
