I thought this was going to be a RECESS lead-in. Alas.

Upvote for dealing with bullshit, I've hit my wall recently regarding trying to share the wealth of sourced facts.

Aww, ugly duckling!

This is awesome. When I have my phone stashed in my bra I pretend I'm Tony Stark.

In terms of activities, maybe teach everyone the Thriller dance? That would be fun if you have a group that enjoys dancing.
I go overboard when it comes to Halloween because it's my favorite holiday. Two years ago I built a bat cave (we had a weird extra-closet with no door) and a "toxic waste" drink dispenser that lights up. This year I'm going with a science/mad lab type theme, probably Portal-based. I try to theme the food along with a theme, so, colored pudding as the gels, Puppy Chow as moon rocks, maybe a cheese ball that looks like a brain or something, and drinking containers that look like chemistry glassware.

One of my best friends dated one of our high school teachers. It was extremely awkward because we all hated him for what an immature asshole he was (prime example: he fucked over a mutual friend who had just been diagnosed with cancer). My friend ended up hiding it from us for four years until they broke up.
EDIT: They only dated after we graduated from high school. The few years before that they were just awkwardly-close friends to all us outsiders.

Sweet, thanks!

What is the Cleveland reference? I definitely missed it.

It's a bit like tennis, you can either play doubles or singles. What is absolutely necessary, however, is a hallway with a "nook". We had a hallway with a recessed door. You mark off two lines I'd say about 10 feet from the nook on each end, and then each team/player stands behind it. There are two parts, throwing and defending. You have to throw a ball (usually a ball like a racquetball or large bouncy ball) into the nook, have it bounce out, and cross the opposing team's line in order to score a point. IIRC you can score on your own team if it bounces back and you don't block it.
We wrote up a whole set of rules like who stands where and when and what happens when the ball gets stuck in the nook (a "nooker"). But it actually got way too detailed after a point, so, that's all the basics I can remember.

Nice, my friends and I invented Nookball.

Interesting, thanks! I think my nausea stems more from the pills than from the period (as I get nauseated just on any average day), but it's still good-to-know. =)

I was so disappointed to see that with your username, your posts weren't a novelty account explaining lots of common misconceptions such as this comment.
lotsofpie
Cool, thanks! Did you have any problems with nausea or cramps otherwise (before using the IUD)?
lotsofpie
Theoretically I would assume that would be possible (I am no electrical engineer, however, I just find RFID to be really awesome).
lotsofpie
Interesting, I don't, but only because I've been paranoid about spotting. The IUD is interesting, though, I've started looking into it considering I just switched down to a lower estrogen pill and it's actually giving me really bad nausea. =/

RFID doesn't "transmit" so much as it "reacts to being scanned". Which is why you need the big-ass security towers by entrances and exists, there needs to exist a power source which can create a current in the RFID tag.

Man, I wish. I'm on a pill and I still have overflow issues with tampons. I can only thank god that I rarely get cramps.

Or more greywater use in general.
Or, in the theme of the thread, in seventh grade I remember reading a "Tech of the FUTURE" article that showed biological waste being handled by what was essentially a manmade swamp. And I KNOW that's possible, I just got a degree in civil engineering!
tl;dr personal wastewater management systems and better water usage.

iirc there's a Bucca di Beppo's over by the Ala Moana mall...? It's been a few years since I lived there, though. :(
After about three months I had a serious craving for fresh bread, though, because you always get rice or macaroni salad as a side.

Thanks! I've written to a few companies to see if I can shadow (and hopefully get an unpaid internship or something)! I finally found some professional organizations to join, too, so I think that will help a lot. :D

It's good you did CS though! My only problem now is that I try to talk to people in the department/field about what I want to do (to see if they know what to do or people to talk to) and they all just stare at me like a deer in the headlights.
Anyway I think it's great to be well-rounded... It's too bad that pop culture sees science and things as "boring" or "nerdy". =(

Some sort of production design-- museum or theme park or movie set design, something like that. I've been sending off emails to a bunch of people and kind of have a small start, but engineers seem to only know how to get people into engineering firms and the DOT.

I like her first two albums but her new one is just bland as fuck. And all her fans who on their own I don't mind but just decided that "we only decided to become haters".
Yes, surely the fact that I've been involved in music activities my whole life means I have not been able to develop my own taste for and understanding of music.

Yeah, my problem now is no one I get in contact with really knows how to get into the field I want to be in... Oh well, I'll get there one day! =)
Good on you for choosing what's best for yourself as well. I think a lot of people in college these days feel pressured to stay and just end up in a lot of debt. =/
I was under the impression a lot of this "white tiger" business started with the Cincinnati zoo. I do know they had (and possibly still have) a big to-do over "white tigers".
