The saddest part is that it made sense to me. That there would be such a shitstorm of people commenting/doing shit about it that you would constantly have to be refreshing to keep up with new content.

I think it's a little of both, unfortunately. Maybe not so much when you isolate video games on their own, but when you include other visual media like magazines, movies, and tv, I think the number of women not treated like that decreases significantly in percentage.

It's not really "not needing a man" so much as not "chasing a man around" being her definable characteristic.

IIRC and I wish I could find the article, but a few years ago, something to do with Prop 8 I think, Coke was promoting anti-gay stuff and Pepsi was making donations against that.

EDIT: This might have been one of the related incidents, I remember a bunch of churches being up in arms over the whole thing. It possibly involved Mormons owning part of Coke as well? Idk. I may be conflating multiple stories, too.

I had a friend in gradeschool who left after second or third grade. A lot of my friends from gradeschool all went to the same high schools, and a fair number to the same college, so we're all still pretty well in touch with eachother, especially with facebook. Just last year (4th year of college) I was wondering what had ever happened to this kid, because no one had heard from him or seen him since he had left our gradeschool, even though we were friends with other people who had left who were still in the area.

Next day on the news it comes up he drowned that day after falling out of a boat or something.

Maybe there was a weird "sound pocket" or something. You never know. My sister had a corner in her room that echoed if you were standing in juuuust the right place. It was weird as shit.

When on an entrance ramp,

1) accelerate to speed, and 2) know that you do NOT have right-of-way.

If you can't merge comfortably into the flow of traffic because you're a moron, GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY WAY.

Speed limits are also low as a factor of safety in transportation engineering. A curve/rise/dip/etc. will be designed for a certain speed and certain conditions, and usually 5 mph is taken off that as padding.

In like 6th grade my best friend came over to our house and promptly spit out her gum after getting out of the car. I looked at her bewildered and told her to pick it up, and she asked me if I was serious (and gave me a look like I was nuts). I believe my exact response was, "EVERY TIME I get a brand new pair of shoes, within the first week I step in somebody's gum and have to clean it up. Pick it up." She did.

I've been best friends with some of my friends for 9 years and I still feel weird just walking in and not ringing the doorbell.
