Copilot harness: assisted permissions is pretty cool (self.GithubCopilot) [Discussions]

You're in the Copilot sub tho. 100 dollars are extremely low for Copilot.
lppedd
To actually save time you must have two components: 1. Enough spending budget 2. Proper setup
Point 2 is also consequential to point 1. So to summarize, money is king. If your employee gives you 100 dollars or less a month you're going nowhere in productivity.

Solo schifo assoluto. Migliorare la progressività non esiste come concetto? Boh.

Wasn't aware of this limitation. Thanks.

The app is very minimalistic. It's the VS Code Agents view with fewer capabilities, overall. It's perfect if you don't really care about the code and project structure. Copilot on VS Code is much more granular in the way it allows managing changes. You can even accept or refuse a change at a the line level. Additionally, VS Code exposes a bunch of ad hoc language tools that allow models to perform some operations without using external tools, which speed up things. You can see how people use VS Code with Copilot by looking at https://github.com/microsoft/vscode/issues/339363.

The Copilot App is missing a lot of goodies from VS Code. It's a different setup entirely, and for those of us used to VS Code it is mostly a step backwards. Obviously this is my opinion.

It's the same in VS Code. I HATE IT. No spellchecking at all.

COBOL is not the issue. Mainframes are architecturally complex, with dozens of subsystems. You won't just program in COBOL, but also in JCL, REXX, PL, ASM, and you'll also need to master the aforementioned subsystems. All mainly looking at a terminal emulator. It's not a great experience.

Show up with a couple PowerPoints mentioning how cheap alternatives are compared to IBM/BMC, initiate the transition, get a promotion, switch company before madness ensues.

Development is slow, but not that slow. This is 99% a process issue which would not go away.

This is the kind of LLM use I approve.
lppedd
Wasn't local the same tho? It would still show you all changes mixed into one chuck.
lppedd
It's not an Italian word btw.
lppedd
Worth noting it requires a license, which you already have if you use IntelliJ obviously. Useful when VS Code or other editors are mandated and you want top Java support.
lppedd
Generally true. I just want to mention we have mixed TS & K/JS monorepos where they interoperate without any major issue. Pure frontend is still Angular tho, which then may call exported K/JS functions.

Forse perché mi vengono contro mentre sono in superamento?
lppedd

Doesn't this result in *more* AIC being used as memory loses efficiency? The Local harness also has per-session memory, contrary to Copilot.
