And then in April during the first day of sustained sunshine and 10C+ weather you find everyone again in the queues at the ice cream shop or buying their balcony bbq 😂

Haha yeh for the longest time I’ve been a very passive Reddit user. Recently I’ve tried to have some debates and it’s been a bit of a revelation of a) how negative it is to my life (it’s not worth it at all) and b) how strongly some people hold some very irrational beliefs and how rarely anyone acknowledges any arguments that may cause them to change their mind (I feel like I’m the only dumbass who ever writes things like “oh yeh you’re actually right - I hadn’t thought of that”). Think I’m gonna go back to being passive to be honest.

Haha es macht einen halt einfacher fetter als man wirklich ist 😅 Ein umgedrehtes Muster wäre vielleicht besser gewesen haha

- No we didn't want this.
- We didn't want a world cup lasting more than 5 and a half weeks either.
- Or a tournament so large that it will never again be hosted by a "smaller" country that doesn't have a sovereign wealth fund to build a dozen "single use only" stadiums.
- Or a football game be split into quarters.
- Or a weirdly inconsistent VAR.
- Or a host waging literal war against a team and not allowing them to sleep in the country.
- ...I'm sure I'm forgetting stuf.
The problem I already see happening is "Oh but look how great this World Cup is" and I think many people are failing to see that the World Cup is inherently an amazing thing. So even a "worse" World Cup looks amazing. And this still is an amazing tournament and I'm sure we'll have tons more fun. But that doesn't mean that all the changes don't matter or have made it better. Enshittification at work but it's starting from such a high baseline that it will take a few iterations before anyone will truly turn away from the World Cup.

How was this not a good Q3? 😅 Or are you referring to your flair?

Depends how rich you are. As I understand it works like this (at least in the US):
- Get rich: You made a lot of money based on equity in a company (that you likely founded or were a very early investor in). This is not taxed based on income tax but would be taxed based on capital gains tax as that equity increases in value over time. But you aren't selling so that tax bill doesn't come due.
- Borrow to pay for your life: You borrow money against your equity at low interest rates to pay for your life. I'm not sure how that interest rate would be taxed as you state. Mind telling me how? I thought if anything that interest rate (if used for a property for example) could even be deducted from anything considered income. But I might be totally wrong here.
- Borrow more: You borrow more money against more of your equity to repay the other loan and pay for your life. And so on. If you are rich enough then you can keep this up for the rest of your life (if you aren't, then yes, you would have to sell some equity and pay capital gains tax on it).
- Cancel capital gains at inheritance: Once you die your family inherits your equity. In the US, they get the step up value of that equity (i.e. they only get taxed on the gains from the current value of the equity, not on the gains since you owned the equity - essentially that capital gains tax will never be paid by anyone).
- Avoid inheritance tax: Now this is where the estate/inheritance tax should step in as a fail safe. But it does not as there are various vehicles and loopholes that you can use to avoid that tax. I'm too poor to fully understand this step though.
So net net, you end up paying no or very very little tax (so little that it becomes irrelevant to the bigger picture) on the money you earned through this company.
And even in the scenario where you do pay capital gains tax, it is significantly less than income tax. So no matter what, you will end up paying a much much smaller share of your income/wealth in taxes than your regular Joe.
Here's an article on the topic and here a podcast with someone studying this.

Haha even half is probably more than normal. That'd be a Brötchen, a slice of rye bread, a bunch of crackers and that Naan PER PERSON just for the "base" haha. And let's not talk about the amount of charcuterie and cheese that would still be on top.
