Depends on your region, what region are you looking for?
lumothesinner
Are you using OPs lighthouse port, or the BanjoRecomp3D I linked?
Banjo Recomp requires USA rom 1.0, I also found this issue a few times as I had a 1.1 rom, had to source the correct one

mario kart 8 and world are both excellent for casual players, infact they default to having the assist modes enabled for all players. Its great for local multiplayer, single player might be a little disappointing if they are not competetive enough to play online, except with World on sw2 where you can simply explore the open world and look for collectables or the challenges.

I think the reason you don't see as much info now is that people are satisfied with what bluetooth offers, but using a dongle based headset is a far better experience. I use Razer Barracuda X on pc and switch, I just plug the dongle in and it connects in less than a second, same when booting from sleep. Additionally theres next to no sound delay like there is with bluetooth, and doesn't block the use of more bluetooth controllers like using bluetooth audio would. Mine doesn't allow for 2 connections though, i have no experience with a USB headset that does.
I've tried dual connection bluetooth and on switch 2 its easy to switch from another device as theres a connection option on the quick menu (hold home) but unfortunately this was not added to sw1

a 92% on metacritic is generally going to be worth 5 bucks to most people.
Do you like pixel art, trial and error platformers, and moving stories about depression and anxiety and the trial to overcome it? If yes, you will have a blast, if one or more of these things arent for you, then its probably not worth it.
lumothesinner
Well, if it was tons of fun and beautiful, play it more and get your moneys worth
Did you unlock all the levels? Did you achieve any medals on your run? Did you get the real final boss? Did you try any online multiplayer? Did you try any challenges?
There is lots of content in the game, more than the n64 original even, its just not a one and done game. Play more and enjoy it.

Really struggling with permissions on the build process on Windows 11. Running the bat from admin powershell had a problem with creating /workspace/Star, after manually creating it then had problems with future folders, even though the whole Star3d directory had permissions for "everyone"
Tried WSL with docker desktop intergration, ran build.sh and got more permissions errors, but new location /bin/sh: 1: cannot create build-docker/us_3ds/patched_include/dlls/objects/501.h.orig: Permission denied.
I gotta do some work now but feels like theres definitely something up with docker desktop and the bind mounts here (my build folder is not in C:/Users so its not those messed up permissions).
If anyone can figure out what ive done wrong with docker desktop before I try again this evening, I would appreciate the pointer

This is the craziest part to me, they got it right with pragmata. If it was the same implementation every game I would take it as their playtesters only try docked gyro, but if they can do it right for one they should be able to for the others
lumothesinner
Honestly there are so many things releasing, and not everyones posting in the same place, be it 3dshacks, gbatemp, 3dsqrcodes or here on 3dshomebrew. Its so easy to miss new releases.
Really needs a unified website/database type thing that someone trusted maintains, like vitadb is for the vita scene.
lumothesinner
someone had done it - https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-banjo-kazooie-recompiled-3d.685408/ - https://github.com/oneup03/BanjoRecomp3D
Nice to have options though! Not a dev but I think you've gone for a different method porting lighthouse to 3ds, while the other link is porting n64 static recompilation to 3ds, supporting Banjo, DK64 and Goemon 64.
Nice work!
lumothesinner
Ah, yaw is what I meant yeh. Hopefully they learn and patch to be like pragmata, or better like resi 6 on SW1. Game isn't that great but gyro actually works
lumothesinner
No, I mean gyro X axis is mapped to roll instead of pitch which is just not natural in handheld mode. Also when gryo is active y axis on the stick is disabled. Capcom have gotten gyro right before, disappointing that they have not here
lumothesinner
no, the gyro implementation in RE4 has me really down. Its the main reason I got it on switch as other consoles don't typically implement gyro aim, and its just broken. Given 2 and 3 do not even have the option, I doubt I'll pick them up no matter how good they run.
Really wish it would get patched up to feel like Pragmata does, but I don't think they ever patched Requiem.
lumothesinner
Damn you've been very busy. Awesome work
Any chance of an update checker in the app? Prompt to update on launch if new version found?
lumothesinner
Pragmata was announced in 2020 though, it took 6 years to develop and release
So much released in 2026 I don't think most teams will have something new to release again already, its going to be a while before their dev cycles for those teams to come around again.

for sure, but user asked for any news so I provided what news we have right now. Going to need spec sheet from capcom, ore even better reviewers to look at final build to confirm for sure how the whole game handles
lumothesinner
It feels like its going to slow down next year...it has to right, they are running out of RE engine games?
Their main teams released RE requiem, Monster Hunter Stories 3, Megaman starforce collection, Pragmata, Onimusha Way Of The Sword, Dragons Dogma 2 Dark Arisen, while their porting teams have released RE 7 8 2 3 4, Devil May Cry 5 and soon Monster Hunter wilds. I dont think theres any RE engine games left to port? Looks like Exoprimal (which is dead) and Dead Rising Deluxe maybe be the only things left they can.
At the very least we have MHW ascendance, RE requiem DLC, RE Veronica and Mega Man to look forward to

This and many other impressions of an earlier build on youtube but its all offscreen. Looks like stable 30. I would not expect 60, maybe unlocked like some of their other RE engine games. Not sure about docked yet.
Rise is also still locked at 30 (give me a sw2 patch I beg you capcom) and so is Generations Ultimate. There are demos for both on the eshop to try out but they arent really the best at explaining how to play. Both are regularly on sale for almost nothing. Gen ultimate is kind of the greatest hits of old school monster hunter, I'd say its quite clunky for a newcomer. Rise is much more streamlined, and I've not played wilds but heard its also quite streamlined and easy.

Nintendo will always care, its why they provide a service to access the old games. As long as that service exists their lawyers will chase down people distributing their software for free when they should be paying nintendo for it.

https://github.com/tinaut1986/mzm and https://github.com/tinaut1986/sm-3ds both have retro achievements, granted these are snes and gba games, not n64. Dev posts on 3dshacks quite a bit so maybe can help out, or point to the same tools they used to get it implemented for zero missions and super.
I'm aware its a long shot, i have no knowledge of how this works
lumothesinner
Providing rom data with a release is begging for the project to get taken down. Theres a much higher chance of the projects sticking around for longer and avoiding legal issues if they provide the framework, while the rom is provided by the user.
go check the piracy or qrcodes subs, the actual releases from individuals making these ports will never contain copyrighted data to save them from takedowns
lumothesinner
Played some, got to koopa village.
Apart from the graphical issues you already mentioned, the only real issues I have are framerate tanking when loading into a battle (i don't think much can be done about that, iirc the n64 did that too) and thinking that the 3d depth could be deeper, but not sure if that is possible. I'm anxious to see what happens when I finally reach the first upgrade block, as that's a point where deadelus tends to give up.
Otherwise its going great, everything I would expect to work does work.
For future requests I would love to see save states option, mod support for master quest, MQJR, ttyd and the black pit, and maybe retro achievements support like ive seen in some other 3ds ports...but I know those are all huge asks so I am very happy with what we have so far. Thanks
lumothesinner
Damn this looks amazing. I just was hoping for a port, but you've gone all out with interpolation, randomised, 3d, remapping. Thanks so much trying it out now
The dev of dk64 and banjo also made a goemon64 port https://github.com/oneup03/Goemon64Recomp3D
