What color is the car?
maksull
How are they holding? I lost to two to pot holes this year. Never lost one on my last car. What did you do for wheels?
maksull
does the grandfather clock and/or pocket watch actually improve speed?

86box is probably the best. I haven't played through a whole game with it yet. I played through a couple games on dosbox last weekend using windows 3.11 which was a ton of fun but the graphics are not quite as nice as on 86box because the win 3.11 version is limited to 256 color (edit: actually i don't think win9x provides any color benefit). in win 3.11 it did crash a couple of times so make sure you save from time to time. Both are fairly involved in setup though. You have to install windows and then drivers in both cases.
With 86box I'm using win98se with the 1998 Super Socket 7, Intel Pentium 90, s3 virge/vx (diamond stealth 3d 3000) for the graphics and ensoniq audiopci (es1370) for the audio. I totally forgot about the fact you needed a floppy boot disk to install win95/98!
edit: I played through a couple games on 86box and it seems very stable. I haven't had any crashes. Welp, I got crash immediately after writing this.
i learned you can skip the win 3.11 splash screen by starting it win : who knew!
edit: It did run for me on Win11, after copying files from the cd, but the river crossing videos do not play. I like to have it run "640x480" screen resolution from the windows compatibility options. It will show a black screen when you launch it but you have to alt+tab or click to get past it. Using win95/winxp compatability mode did not work for me. It actually would make it unplayable. I leave it unchecked. The oregon trail 2 quicktime fix that's out there also did not work me and makes it impossible to advance past rivers. I had to uninstall the fix.

I haven't encountered any thieves in OT2 yet, knock on wood.
maksull
This is savage! Just happened to me at about Soda Springs in the 1990 version. First night thief took all but 2 of clothing sets then the next night stole all 6 oxen. I switched to the deluxe, i hit soda springs, and all 6 oxen disappear in the night again :(

Just the voicemail stopped working on mine.
maksull
did you ever try this? It makes sense but I'm having a hard time finding any documentation on this.
maksull
Yea they are great phones. It seems like an update broke the voicemail on my stylus 2022 so I'm going to have to get something else. If it's moto I'm definitely going to try this. They always seem work the best initially. On the last couple motos I've always regretted allowing a major android update but it really doesn't sound like the other vendors are any better.
edit: I really dislike how if you pay for a high end phone they take away the sdcard and the 3.5mm audio jack. So that negates the idea of getting something with a longer update life cycle for me granted I'm probably too cheap anyway.
maksull
you may want to look into that norootfirewall approach mentioned in here. that might be more reliable.
maksull
This sounds like a good way to save a motorola phone from an early death.
maksull
Yes, same issue in Michigan.

I use the tether quite a bit I had no idea there were different caps let alone weird inversion on the unlimited. I would be upset.
seems like there is a bot in this forum that just downvotes any distress both posts and comments.
maksull
Unfortunately, since they did that second reset, when I follow that procedure it tells me that I need to setup voicemail from the phone.
edit: i was able to set this up via an old phone of my thanks.
maksull
the 2nd device would be an eero extender in addition to the eero router? the modem (a 3rd device) is separate from this right?
maksull
Should be interesting close to the year, B770, 5070 super, 9080 xt!
maksull
You'd use it for local LLMs?
maksull
Did you ever get it to run? I had it running about 15 years ago. It needed a glide wrapper (nGlide/DgVoodoo2) and there was at least one other fix it needed. I think it was something to limit the amount of memory it could see. I think there were still some quirks though. I thought I had recently bookmarked a guide. This might be it but it's a different approach than I used in the past:

edit: chatgpt claims the dxwnd heap fix has been broken beyond ~win 11 22H2 but claims it's not broken in win10.
maksull
heh, yep that's the one. i did put it in a batch file. works great!
edit: that is nice list!
maksull
Ah ok I tried that in the config, I didn't realize it was for the environment! Thanks!
What wheels did you get? I'm eyeing those canadian m011s. The gunmetal gloss seems the most conservative but my car is gray so I'm a little worried it'll be too drab.
