You can have both 500GB of target/ and 300_000 files in there :)

How do you use traits to organize code?

https://mods.factorio.com/mod/planet-crucible - Crucible. Spoilage done right.

You can't submit a stacked PR from a fork.

The automated bot accidentally took down my original post because I forgot to add the project flair.

It because it breaks the rules, this one might end up being deleted as well.

More documentation for my parser I guess. There's 200 or so structs/enums, methods, trait methods, several traits. For each I want to add a reasonable example with detailed enough explanations and references to other methods. Each example comes in two flavors - derive and combinatoric/fluent one...

They are breaking changes, but wast is an implementation detail. You are suposed to use wat crate which is more stable.

manpacket

if post-1.0 you realize the current API is imperfect for some usecases, why not defer the breaking changes to about 1~2 years later, when you release version 2.0?

wast 261.0.0 would like to say hi

It's been also auto inlining small functions regardless of #[inline] for some time, so yes, it will do the right thing more often than not.

Slowly filling in the documentation for the proc macro stuff from the last week. Writing documentation is hard and much less fun than writing code. Took a break to do some benchmarking, made it 30% or so faster without changing much.

cargo clippy --fix --workspace breaks the code in a few scenarios if that helps.

manpacket

Dates - yes, mostly stable. There's multiple manual steps - preparing release notes, preparing blog post, tests, etc.

Not really.

Lossy representation can be longer - might not fit in the same buffer.

..., 1.18446744073709551615.0, and since semver uses u64 - 2.0.0!

Box does the trick, but this means always allocation. Pin allows to use stuff on a stack. Then there's Unpin that allows you to relax requirements if type doesn't actually require pinning - contains no self references.

manpacket

Also will have to poke the zulip to ask for some feed back on my chonky pull request, it's been almost two weeks since the last feedback I got...

manpacket

The derive macro refactor I mentioned last week is done and now I have even more documentation to write. At least now I can write it for the macro itself.

Benchmark seems a bit misleading. I don't think you can get this much throughput from memory on Ryzen 9950X, so all 16Mb are served from cache. Maybe add a few columns, up to, say, 1Gb?

manpacket

Post says that it is assisted, the repo or crates.io page don't mention it for some reason.
