Argentina scored two goals in the knockouts. Messi assisted one and created the other from defensive work in midfield. He scored the first penalty in the semifinal shootout. He played very deep because Argentina had no midfield to speak of, and if he didn't do that they were just going to get overrun like they did in 2018. Despite this he still had the most chances created in the tournament. His golden ball was well-deserved.

Very nice. Some quality pieces here. Can you tell me what the third from the right is on the top row? The black dial chronograph with numerals and pump pushers.

I second this recommendation. I looked for a tobacco fragrance for a long time and this is the driest and most realistic one I found.

>only his headbutt is ever remembered about him in this tournament
not even remotely

Wow! I had no idea that Mamdani's mother was Mira Nair. Monsoon Wedding was quite a mainstream hit in the west.

Zidane

Messi was electrifying in the 2010 world cup. Anyone who actually watched him play should know that.

I think I actually like the RM 65-01 automatic high-beat rattrapante.

Also Zidane

The funny thing is that I know you are not really completely joking

Maradona's goal will forever be the greater and more iconic because of the setting but from a purely technical point of view I think Messi's is better. The Getafe defenders come at him harder, press him more tightly, and force him to run more intensely. Some of the England players look a bit lethargic in comparison.

I love that three of his five level 5 goals are with his right foot.
His 2018 world cup goal with his right is also close to level 5 for me.
mapgazer
It's not even remotely close to just the goals. For some he's a better playmaker than goal scorer. The entire game revolved around him getting the first touch in attack nearly every game of his entire career.
mapgazer
He also gets docked because of his quiet world cup career.

You did get 1 out of 7 correct here.

It might have been the single best club season any player has ever had.
mapgazer
Come on. Only three.

He had two good games, in the last group stage match against Hungary (two goals and an assist) and in the semifinal against Wales (a goal and an assist). In the RO16 against Croatia, Quaresma scored the winning goal after Ronaldo's initial shot was saved, and some sources seem to credit him with an assist for that. The play was primarily created by Renato Sanches' run from midfield.
At all other times he was basically a non-factor. In fact he was poor enough in the first two group stage games that it was kind of a meme here at the time.
Overall he definitely contributed and was important but people saying he carried the team are wrong or have some kind of an agenda.
mapgazer
I think that's wrong actually. Cruyff won the ballon d'or in 1974, Beckenbauer won it in 1972 and 1976.
mapgazer
But is that saying anything
mapgazer
Never heard any hate for it. It might just be you.

America is poorer because of slavery
It’s probably more accurate to say that America is poorer than it would be if the same population of people had come voluntarily to the country and sold their labor in an efficient free market. It’s not clear that it’s poorer than it would be if that labor had not come at all.

Probably eats at mcdonalds when he gets there

Take a bite.
This is snek.

If you're interested in museum catalogues, Symbolism in Danish and European Painting 1870–1910 (SMK, 2000) is very nice.
