$50 bucks on a whim after dating for a few months. White Sand beach in Florida where I was stationed at the time. Justice of the Peace, his wife was the witness, my wife and I.

That was just over 26 years ago, best decision I've ever made.

Saw them on the Endgame tour years ago. Smallish venue, they came on stage right on time, played the shit out of the songs, not much talking or other BS, closed the set at 10 sharp, I was home in bed by 11pm. Being in my 30s at the time with kids at home, it was pretty much the perfect concert experience.

Are you required to have a sign interpreter present at the event being livestreamed? If so, TBH I'd point a camera at that person and toss them up in a little box on the stream and call it a day.

I'm curious about this thread as well though. We livestream board meetings and have never been asked about CC for the live stream, were told it was good as long as the playback had them.

We do not have an interpreter on hand live for the meetings, which are of course open to the public. I'm not sure what the rules are regarding this TBH, but I'm very curious!

IDK if it helps you, but in our middle school we faced a similar issue of students using email inappropriately. The solution we all came to was to simply disable the students access to email in Google. Staff and teachers can communicate via the LMS (Schoology) about all assignments. Coaches can create groups for athletics, it solved all of the problems almost immediately.

Students at the elementary level don't have access either, due to Google's policy on having to be 13 years old to use email.

We found that middle school students are just not mature enough to handle it overall. There was about a week of grumbling, but it's been a full year now, and it's all good.

NTA - Fuck him, he had his chance and didn't get it done. You were in a position to handle it and did so. Young man needs to take this as a lesson and move forward.

We used to have an above ground pool. My insurance company wanted verification that it was properly permitted. Stated they wouldn't cover any claims associated with pools that were not permitted.

You wouldn't believe how many folks buy pools from Walmart and throw them up without a permit.

We put a TV up in the IT office at the high school and keep the ticket queue on it. When someone walks in we ask them where their ticket is on the screen. If they haven't put one in, they usually get the hint and leave to do so. We keep the tickets sorted by age, so if their ticket is on the screen, they can plainly see what is in front of them.

We require tickets for work, with very few exceptions for emergency stuff, and I hold my team to a standard of responding within 24 business hours, and updating the ticket every 2-3 days. We want folks to know that we got their request, and that we haven't forgot about it. It was an uphill battle for awhile, but works pretty well for us now!

Verizon here in central Virginia has been pushing folks towards wireless for over a decade at this point.

I don't think it's a rumor that phone companies want to ditch copper and move to VoIP or wireless solutions at all.

In the Route Based policy you can select which device to apply the VPN to, (at least on my UDMP)

Created the VPN client, then made the routing policy for it to only apply to the devices I want it to.

Alternatively, we have been buying cameras through a local reseller for a few years. I've had to RMA maybe 3-4 of the few hundred we have purchased, Each RMA went smoothly without issues.

Not saying Ubiquiti doesn't have their issues, but the RMA process is not always terrible.

masterf99

Generally it goes like this.

Can you do this thing for me right now?

Not right at this moment, but if you submit a ticket I'll get to it as soon as I can.

How long with that be?

As soon as I get through the other stuff on that screen, the sooner you put your ticket in, the sooner you get on the list.

If anyone gives my tech a hard time, they have standing orders to direct the person to me, at which point they get told to put a ticket in. I've found that the consistency is the key, people bitch and moan, but we go out of our way to make sure the only way to get help is to put a ticket in.

We started this about 2 school years go, and these days we only have to get a few new folks trained up. The folks that have been around for awhile know the deal and unless they really feel it's a RIGHT NOW issue, they don't bug us too much anymore.

Chromebox in Kiosk mode signed into our ticketing system.

I put a monitor in the tech office at our high school that shows a running list of tickets. It's been quite helpful for staff to be able to physically SEE how long the list of requests is at the beginning of the school year. They now generally make the ask, get asked to kindly submit a request, grumble a bit and leave the office to submit their ticket. It's also been helpful when building admin coming asking what the hold up is on any reqest to see that information.

I'm planning on getting the beta tomorrow afternoon and giving it a go for sure.

Running this on my UDMP, SSH in with Putty and ran the install command from that page.

It might be worth noting that you have a UCG and that page states "Install instructions for UDM and UXG families routers."

I'm not familiar enough to know if the UCG falls under the UXG family.

I will say that the first time I ran the CLI installer it was a little strange, I backed all the way out and did it again from the top and it ran through just fine.

Once the install was done I ran the "activate" command, then the "start" command, then we were good to go. I'll see the DNS change from Cloudflare to NextDNS immediately on a page refresh.

You will have to reinstall after major updates of UnifiOS as the other user mentioned.

Been running NextDNS for a few years now, no complaints, works like a champ.

One of my County's Board of Supervisors members was all hot about having bus WiFi. Went out and secured grant funding for 6 busses for a whole year.

Got them all setup, and strategically chose busses with high use students, and busses that routinely did longer field trips drives, etc.

Pulled usage records every month and kept them. When budget season rolled around they started chirping about getting bus WiFi rolled into the budget as a proper line item. I took public comment time and gave a three minute presentation (with slides) about how in an entire YEAR, there had been less than 1GB of data usage across ALL 6 BUSSES.

BOS member withdrew their support for bus WiFi immediately lol

H3 in Hawaii going from Honolulu to Kanehoe Bay.

When you pop out of the tunnel and see Kanehoe Bay for the first time, it's magical.

Video doesn't do it justice, it's REALLY something to see!!

MDM for Android devices is absolute garbage.

I wish I had a good answer for you, but currently, iPads are the only feasible tablet solution if you want any kind of real management.

masterf99

We have been installing the Epson LB-L210W here lately. They are quite bright, we are very happy with them.

masterf99

I would literally say the word "No" and end the conversation.

We have centralized printing and Papercut, use the provided resources.

masterf99

Clean/replace filters in projectors (if they aren't on a schedule already)

Deep clean MDF/IDF

Go through chromebook/iPad carts and clean up wiring/replace damaged chargers

Clean/powerwash chromebooks

Reset iPads (our kids take lots of photos for some reason, resetting frees up a good bit of space on them)

All of that and more on top of any projects that might be going on

masterf99

Oh we don't either. But we wouldn't stand for admin rights for students on our machines either.

I'd rather support printers that do that...

masterf99

Agreed, ain't no damn way.

TBH if that is the direction leadership wants to go, I'd advocate for BYOD and have those devices VLANed off so they can't touch the sensitive and important stuff.

masterf99

We give teachers dinosaurs for loaners when they forget their device. Stopped pretty fast once word got out.
