The Ana & Dinn / Shadow of the Leviathan series.

It’s also just an excellent series.

You can’t see in the video but it has cross pieces that very successfully prevent a baby from trying to swallow it. It’s an excellent teething device.

At the O&O: I found much of the decor to be pretty dated, the food is not as good as other hotels, and I didn’t find the bed that comfortable. I also didn’t like the pool as much as others. I actively dislike their restaurant Seared, but other food was better.

Zadun: service was impeccable, the room was peaceful, cool, and very private, and the food was excellent.

Also the concierge at Zadun is the best we’ve experienced in Mexico. They arranged a tonne of things for our visit. This definitely can vary based on staffing of course.

maxd

Agree with Zadun. I’ve stayed at every 5* hotel in Cabo - except the Four Seasons, hah - and Zadun is the one I want to go back to.

This is an insanely great update. On device WhisperSync is huge.

Our dinner in Canon Beach was for 12 BTW. Totally understand your desires though. We’ve just had so many restaurant dinners that honestly bespoke in-home fine dining is way more attractive these days.

We have a chef in LA who was previously at the Lazy Bear in San Francisco. He has done a few “Michelin level” dinners for us; one of them at an AirB&B in Canon Beach. If you want his info I’m more than happy to put you in touch, he’s truly incredible.

Here’s some shots from our Canon Beach dinner. Terrible photography, awesome food. He brought his brother and his sister in law to help with service. We rented all the tableware and silverware. We also have a somm who would gladly do the wine for you, also in LA but he would travel to Vegas gladly.

FWIW, I eat a lot of fine dining, and I’d say that his meals are easily in my top ten, if not the absolute top. It’s easily Michelin quality, with slightly more casual service than you’d expect at an Addison etc., but still excellent.

Hit “Show Advanced” in the top left to see additional settings including “Series Folder Format”.

I eat at a lot of restaurants in LA. Recent stand outs:

Lielle: new Scandinavian fine dining. It’s an awesome menu, great bar program, fun vibes.

Muse: fine French dining in the Palisades. Wonderful food, great bar, the owner is a lot of fun.

Loreto: really excellent Mexican seafood restaurant in Glendale. We live on the Westside and will drive to Loreto gladly to meet friends.

Mírate: one of the best bars in the world, hidden in an incredible Mexican restaurant. Go for the cocktails, stay for the cochinita pibil.

Pizzería Sei: one of the top pizza restaurants in the world, and it’s hiding in Palms. Truly excellent pizza.

715 Sushi: this is the best sushi in LA. I’ve been to all the “top” sushi restaurants, and 715 is the only one I’ve been to more than once, by choice. Truly excellent.

Kaneyoshi restaurants: Bar Sawa and Ki being the standouts. Truly excellent, all of them.

Check in: didn’t explicitly mention upgrade, no seating upon arrival, no orientation of property or map, nice card from Alejandro and a welcome plate of local snacks

Yakanas: (butlers) our yakana just talked through things in the room while texting - didn’t feel very present, one key didn’t work and they said they would replace it and haven’t

no good morning text the next day, not communication with other areas of the resort - Zula offered a tasting menu of local seafood and would have been a great opportunity for an upsell but no one followed up (it was left to us to coordinate)

requested info about pickleball racquets and it took almost 2 hours for a response, asked about a foam roller with no response and had to follow up the next day

made a fire pit reservation with s’mores and no one knew about it - when we went down to the firepit there was no one there and we had to get takeout dessert from the restaurant

Conversation with yakana and Erika (Director of Rooms) at the beach: apologized for s’mores/fire pit miscommunication; Erika said there would be additional conversations, Christian said we would see him more and he would have more check ins, would find a way to make it right; in the meantime offered dinner that night (already booked at Zula)

Didn’t see Christian again until checkout. Erika and Christian were both at checkout. Voiced frustration that no additional conversations occurred like they said. Pointed out it’s worse to tell a guest you’re going to fix something and not do it. Erika took one night off the bill and will send shortly a revised copy.

Not helping because I haven’t stayed at FS Punta Mita, but I’ll just reiterate that we got terrible service at Siari. The “butler” was a joke, and when we complained about him to the manager the response was also a joke.

Shame because the property is beautiful and much of the food is excellent. But the overall experience there was very tainted.

If you want five star service I’m certain the FS will be much better.

Borgo Egnazia is excellent. Very good service and property.

Piff the Magic Dragon as a barista. (The comedian, not Puff).

And Rudolph.

I asked Google and it told me.

Saw them shooting some scenes outside the British Museum last week. Unfortunately it was the second unit, so no Brendan was present.

Checkout has been 10am at literally every AirBnB I stay at, even the expensive ones. I often request late checkout, but that only works if they don’t have someone checking in the same day. Our most recent start - a beautiful three bed apartment in Rome - definitely needed 3-4 hours to clean between tenants purely based on the size. You can’t reasonably clean a bathroom in less than 30 mins.

The Sign of the Dragon by Mary Soon Lee.

It’s an epic fantasy story told through over 300 poems. I loved it.

Slipper lobster please!

Damn right it is.

Sir Ranulph Fiennes had a house on the same Loch as us in Scotland, many years ago. He used to jet up and down in a fast boat. One time my mother was on the foreshore outside our house and waved to him; he heaved to, came close to the shore and yelled “do you need rescuing?”

Very nice man.

It was all automatic. I think Profilarr actually did it; scans through the library looking for things that are poorly scored and upgrading them. I think that handles season packs.

Honestly I was just hands off. It took a few weeks to normalise.

maxd

Exactly. I use either Balanced or Compact. All the saving came from TV shows of course; things like Friends I just set to Compact and let Sonarr do the rest.

Luke I said, saved about 20TB from an 80TB library.

I want presidential AOC in 10-14 years. I think she’s fantastic, but I want her to have an impact in the Senate first, get more experience and support, and hopefully allow the country to cool off a bit and actually vote her in.

I actually think the video isn’t very good, which is a shame because the subject of the video is fascinating.
