FYI The 160cm means all dimensions added up, not one single dimension.

Oops. Sorry. I always mix them up at first glance (fortunately not when I was booking my tickets)

Not sure if it works on handwritten menus (didn't encounter too many, but hand painted signs worked fine), but ChatGPT was really helpful in translating photos of menus, signs etc. Much better than translate (google and apple)

The smile on the local peoples faces when this Dutch guys butchers their language while reading Japanese from his cell phone and they kind of understand what I am trying to say.
The frontdesk employee who spoke back Japanese while not realizing that "Did I answer in Japanese?"
The conversations I had with taxi drivers in Kyoto, especially the question from one driver "Why do you want to speak Japanese?" (probably to shut me up 🤣), to which I answered "Because when I visit a country I don't expect the inhabitants to speak my language or English, I think it is fun to try to learn and out of respect for the local people and their culture. Apologies for destroying your language by the way"

Konjac balls on a stick: looked like candy on the outside, were squishy, rubbery texture wise, and did not taste sweet.
Other thing: Takoyaki. Looks like Dutch "poffertjes" (sweet little pancake like), but are nothing of the sort: instead of sweet they are savory and have a piece of squid in them.

I've bought a f/2.8 35mm prime and left my 50mm at home. Haven't missed the 50mm at all. I don't think (much) wider is necessary for most of your shots. Unless you enjoy switching lenses at 35°C in the smoldering sun just bring the most useable one, crop later if you need the zoom.
The Tokyo Government building is free and has nice views esp. at night. But you should bring a shroud to block out the reflections in the windows.

Just was in Tokyo and ubigi worked for the most part but I had issues with it not switching networks when one was congested (ie fat signal, no traffic) This happened twice in restaurants where wanted to translate the menu.
It also had my wife and kid having great connections while I had no data going out/in. Apparently I got the wrong network.
Other than that, no issues (yet)

Not saying that certifications are great, but it sure helps if you can point to a Java certification for eg java 21. With some selfstudy using the training book and some practice exams you should be able to get the certificate and have a head start with all the intricacies that come with java. At least you'll be able to review a pr from a LLM more easily, and you'll check a checkbox on the HR list

I am an Eclipse lover, but the plugin ecosystem is safe, as even AIs are incapable of writing any remotely working plugin for Eclipse.
I have maintained our own plugin (to distribute eclipse settings as a maven jar dependency and unpacking it across the maven modules for Eclipse to pick up), and it is painful. Painful to write the code, painful to write the OSGi configuration and plugin metadata, and painful to distribute.
My reasons to love Eclipse:
- the problems view
- ecj incremental compiler
- hotswap
- cleanup and format actions on save (only a recent addition to IntelliJ)
- a single keybinding for autocomplete (no distinction between overriding a method and implementing an interface method)
- multi cross project dependency resolution
Also I'm pretty invested in it due to Eclipse working with Java 6 on macOS when there was only Soylatte that didn't support Swing/AWT user interfaces. SWT with its native bindings saved the day. I think it got me through 3 years of not being able to run Swing/AWT java user interfaces applications.

I dont have that feature and the automatic parking was able to put my 1.9m wide car in garage spot, but I couldn't get out of the car. Now I drive until I find a spot I know I can get out. If I had the remote drive, this would be an improvement. (NL parking garages are not designed for wide vehicles)

We spent 4 days in Fukuoka. One day was a road trip to Itoshima coast. Very nice to drive, great views of a beautiful coast. The Totoro forrest there was small but very beautiful and one of unexpected highlights (if you're into that).
The pier "The Beach" next to Fukuoka tower is great for sunsets and dinner. Yatai is good as well. I liked the Yatai on Watanabedori better than near Canal City, but that could be just a moment.
We had planned to drive to Yufuin Floral Village, but sitting in a car for 5 hour or so on one day let us decide against that.
There's Huis Den Bosch (iirc), a Dutch theme park (did not visit that), that could be something if you're into that. 2hr train ride iiuc
