yeah, sounds typical, I have 125 adv electronics factories in Adventurers promise and it's still a bottle neck lol
meek_dreg
it's not a good game but give dark reign 2 a try
meek_dreg
Looks like they're trying to become more bold, hope they continue with that approach
meek_dreg
Indeed its been doing well, but again, an established franchise.
Original ideas aren't surviving, which is necessary in order for the genre to survive.

Stormgate DOA, Battleaces didn't even make it that far, BAR is niche, TR had a good single player, zerospace isn't even in beta, everything with that TBA.
Explain to me, where we're at?
The only 2 successful RTSs now in the last 5 years have been a remaster and spiritual successor (AoM:RT and TR).

If you paid close attention to the show in season 1 and 2, you could actually predict the change. They hint at doing something different through the writing and plot being unmitigated garbage.

Hayden, Olivia, Vega and the doom slayer had the strongest narratives arcs of the new games and almost all of that is contained in Doom 2016.

Most of the people who didn't like it probably no longer post in this sub, honestly.
My criticisms for all nu trek boil down it the writers/show runners using unearned and contrived emotional moments as a crutch for bad, nonsensical writing.
Everything feels immensely hollow.
meek_dreg
It's unbelievably lame, just fly up to thing and wait for green light/red light literally. I have no idea why it's in the game, the doom slayer looks dumb just sitting on the dragon, there's no dragon fire or anything, so much of it is nonsensical but not in the fun doom way.
Maybe if they did lylat wars it could have been good, but I would have preferred a fighter jet to the weird lizard dragon thing anyway.

It really does demonstrate the flexibility of video games, the outer wilds has by far one of the most profound, powerful narratives I've ever seen in a videogame, but it's all text and the characters are very light on.
meek_dreg
I actually really could have seen it being a mobile game, micro would have been changed a bit, but the nuts and bolts of it were compatible.

The higher the HPS, the worse the group.

Verso and painted verso died to save Alicia.

To be fair people on the sub were pointing out the double digit player numbers haha. Yeah it's just too niche of a genre unfortunately.
meek_dreg
They were dipping into double digit concurrent players. They needed orders magnitude higher players to be sustainable.

Thanks for all your hard work with a truly innovative take on the RTS genre. It's truly the sleekest RTS experience to date. Even with this outcome, you have to be proud of the sharpness of the vision the team was able to execute on.
With that being said, player numbers for all of the betas were abysmal, so while this is sad to hear, it's not surprising.
My interpretation is that this was the sharpest 1v1 competitive RTS ever made, and the genre is simply too stressful for wide appeal.
There is a community for competitive RTS, but that is overwhelmingly a spectator community. The majority of people who play RTS play engage in the least stressful aspects of it campaigns such as tempest rising and AoM, sc2 co-op commanders, or slower team oriented games such as AoE2/4 and WC3. The most successful recent competitive "rts" is probably mechabellum, which has been designed to make the experience as low stress as possible.
It wasn't the teams fault, you can see the talent in the tight, innovative gameplay, phenomenal music, sound and voice what about crab and perfectly suited art style, I just think it's a niche genre and within that genre the majority of people watch rather than play.
meek_dreg
I play exclusively 10s jumping into public games because I find the people who play in the to be generally extremely competent, able to complete objectives on their own and work naturally as a team even without any communication.
Sometimes I have no deaths and they die a lot, sometimes I'm the one with multiple deaths. Thats the nature of the game.

I love killing them with walking barrages

The last jedi is also a complete non sensical catastrophe. They started with a rebel fleet of thousands of people and ended with 15 people in the millennium falcon.
Trying to end it on an upbeat ending was so jarring. The rebellion had been effectively eradicated.

Gustave didn't die for Maelle to die unable to accept her grief. If he knew the truth, he would have tried to do the same thing, save Maelle.
yeah but printing 1000 fighters and spamming them are way cooler
