Yes! My first computer was a PCW 8512; and in the last 20-25 years I've got a CPC 464, a CPC 6128 and a PC 1512 :)

I'm building a new 24.04 machine, so it's not a problem if 20.04 is at EOL.

Anyway, I'm unsure if the current VPS is running 20.04 or 22.04... :/

menguanito

If it's a problem of my VPS there's no problem, because I want to migrate to Ubuntu 24.04, and for this migration I want to start with a clean machine, without old, disabled, websites; without old, disabled, mail server setup, etc.

menguanito

Didn't know that! I'll try.

Will my current IP address be changed?

menguanito

Great answer! I always get stuck in my projects for the same reason: I don't know how to answer all your questions; so I'm not able to design the game. :/

menguanito

Well, I'm currently in iOS... And I'm not sure if I use the smartphone as a tool. I use it to track my bike rides with Strava, to send and receive messages with Whatsapp, to read the news with the brower, and to procastinate using Instagram, Pokemon Go or CodyCross...

menguanito

I'm more or less used to all OSes... I use Windows 11 at work, Windows 10 and Linux at home, I have an Android tablet (but I don't use it a lot), and an iPhone SE...

As you said, an iPhone (13, 15, 16e) won't break a bank... But I hate taking decisions, so I want a phone that lasts as much as possible... Back in time I had cheap Androids, and after a couple of years they were unusable, or others are directly slow (my daughter can't play Pokemon Go with her Redmi A2. It's so slow and it breaks all times).

menguanito

Sorry, but I don't understand... The Samsung S24 is considered a cheap Android? I thought that it was the same level as an iPhone 15...

I know that the Pixel 8a isn't the top Pixel, but it's so worse compared to a Pixel 8?

menguanito

I'm in Europe (Spain), so I suppose that if I get an S24 it will be with an Exynos chip. What are the differences with the Snapdragon?

menguanito

I don't know... As I've already told, this is the third (and easier) option...

menguanito

In general they were both very similar... This is one of the problems ;)

menguanito

Why? Which were your reasons to run away? And to which phone did you move to?

menguanito

I don't know... But the feeling of the phone, compared to the iPhone or the Samsung was something like "this is a cheap, fragile phone"... Maybe the materials used to build it? Don't know...

menguanito

Yes, this is one of the options. The problem? SE 2020's battery is really small...

menguanito

For me, the idea that the phone will last at least 5-6 years.

As i said, currently I have the 2020 SE, it's still working really well, and the only problem is the battery. I know I can replace it, but it's still a really small battery...

The truth: I don't want to change the mobile in 2-3 years...

menguanito

I agree!

As I've already told, all started because I was a bit lost about how to approach the game I want to build, and also I always have problems of overthinking. So... why not ask a simple IA my questions, and allow "it" to choose the answers? Some of my colleagues at work are great fans of the IA hype, so why not give ChatGPT a try?

It's a nice experiment, and as ChatGPT has a really big DB of information he could give me some nice ideas, which I stored for future reference. But for developing it's not my style...

And one last point: I have no problems programming or debugging (the truth is that I like debugging, it's more challenging ;) ). My main problem is designing the game, choosing options, mechanics, the "bad dudes" behavior, etc...

menguanito

** CrimeRL and other projects **

The last month I've been experimenting with ChatGPT, trying to use it to build a simple investigation game. It started with a simple question ("how can I mix a detective game and a roguelike" or something like this), but it was horrible. The first answers were logical, interesting, but then the IA tries to "help" you writing code, adding features, and it ends like a big ball of mud

It has been an interesting experiment, some of the ideas can be good, but at this moment this project (or just idea) is stopped. In the future? We'll see...

And as I always want to do something, I've recovered my old, never published, based on Python3 Libtcod tutorial game. I've been organizing past ideas to prepare a minimal roadmap to a possible MVP (just "real" ideas, no IA allowed here ;P ), I've taken the project again, and yesterday I just finished the first new feature: a full oxygen clock (the game takes place in a remote planet with unbreathable atmosphere) and oxygen tanks (some broken which can substract energy from you).

One of the main decisions I need to take for the new game is... the title. In the past it was Adventure in Callisto, but I don't like it...
