After hearing this I'm actually interested in upgrading to 26.10 for the first time.

It is the fashion these days. Every design must be changed. If it's impossible to make it better, it must be made worse. Change is mandatory, or you will be left behind.

apt-file search uwsgi on Ubuntu 26.04 tells me that the apache2-bin package ships a /usr/lib/apache2/modules/mod_proxy_uwsgi.so.

I understand that Ubuntu makes this especially difficult, even though it should be in theory possible. The kernel and some of the 3rd-party drivers are packaged as snap packages and even the kernel command line is locked down (no passing extra options if you're unlucky enough to need them for hardware compatibility).

Personally I don't like the tradeoffs and would go with a more standard non-hardware-backed encrypted disk setup, and pay the price of entering one extra passphrase on every boot. (I rarely reboot, suspend works fine, rebooting is only necessary for kernel updates.)

The Eminence in Shadow.

As for a device, I read on my smartphone.

I'd say Ascendance of a Bookworm stayed consistently good (or, rather, got better with time), but it hasn't been running for 30 years.

I think I need to go read the source material to understand what Sasaki thinks he's doing here.

I love how all Lorna's spells are small even now when she's overpowered. Small flame! Small heal!

Try sudo.ws apt install sudo-rs.

On Ubuntu 26.04 which you have (since the sudo and sudo-rs package versions in the screenshot match your screenshot) by default both sudo and sudo-rs are installed. sudo ships /usr/bin/sudo.ws, sudo-rs ships /usr/bin/sudo.

Yeah, there's no builtin command that does what you want. Do a visual selection, yank, then :put =system("pinyin-tool", @").

mgedmin

Won't the set constructor discard your carefully prepared order?

mgedmin

My code is littered with @contextmanager def chdir(...): ... because I keep forgetting that contextlib already has one!

suppress() is also something I keep forgetting about.

Assassin's creed voice Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.

I'm now angry at other languages for not permitting this.

I eventually stopped, after discovering operator.attrgetter/itemgetter/methodcaller.

I used to like sorted(list_of_tuples, key=lambda (a, b, c, d): b) back in Python 2 times, but Python 3 nerfed tuple unpacking, so I started using custom namedtuples/dataclasses instead of ad-hoc tuples.

The place where I most want a walrus is regexp matching.

if m := re.match(r'thing-(\w+)-also-(\d+)', s):
    print(f'got {m[1]} for {m[2]}')
elif m := re.match(r'...', s):
    ...

I use a defaultdict to build it, then convert it to a regular dict before passing it along to the rest of the program, e.g. return dict(result)

visually more appealing.

It is very interesting to me to see that there are people thinking that. I nearly dropped the show because of the terribly ugly art style. The humour saved it. Barely.

As the Romans said, de gustibus non disputandum.

Maybe monster level scales with player stats or something?

mgedmin

Am I Actually The Strongest had the stats-displayed-mod-100 thing. Which show did that mod 1000?

mgedmin

Is that the one where the MC showed up in the isekai world as a level 1 monster drop?

mgedmin

Hm. I get a similar sense of the show taking things seriously as alderamin, but other than that, I don't see many similarities.

I liked both FWIW.

mgedmin

Ehh, and what is 4-year-old Nia supposed to do in that scenario? Hope the parents continue feeding and raising a stranger inhabiting their dear daughter's dead body? Strike out and somehow earn a living on her own tiny self? Die?

filetype plugin indent on

This will set the right autoindent/etc. options for the language you're working on, provided that Vim ships a plugin for that language. Vim ships a lot of plugins like that out of the box.

Pens Down Swords Up.

I think I was browsing the j-novels series list, looking for something (anything) interesting, read the sample, and got hooked hard.
