Admittedly I've only stopped in a few times in the last few years. But what annoyed me is that what I was looking for was overpriced versions of what I could find elsewhere. And bad part was that their pricematching policy was horrible. They wouldn't pricematch the store or the item's version number technically didn't match a competitor. I left thinking shopping there was a waste of time.

My employer has tooling that links PRs and tickets. We place the ticket ID in the PR name.

Personally I didn't see much disrespect towards our profession. Though I'm not too concerned whether my job title is developer or engineer.
This might be coming down to differences in values between some contracting jobs and in house positions. Clients, not contractors pay the price for bad specs.

This sub probably has a bias towards ownership and jobs that judge on impact. I also value that, but not every job is like that. I had a previous job that did SAFe agile. I felt that performance reviews prioritized things like story points over value. That may be a better fit for you.

But it looks like your job values ownership more. So you will probably need to take ownership of the work you do, and understand the why for a task.

This worked the second time for me. Sniper didn't work.

What about looking for another big tech job and focusing on WLB? 500k/yr is good, I'm assuming you have leadership responsibilities. People lower than you probably have less stress. Searching for a new job that's just an IC role on a team might help your stress levels out.

WTF? I can't believe the random crazy things I hear almost happened in the Trump White House. And I actually thought he was consistently against us getting in new wars.

The friend literally called the police minutes after getting the texts. I don't blame the friend. They're not responsible for this.

Good in general. We have a variety of projects across different domains, and are looking for someone comfortable working in most of them. I wasn't entirely sure it would be easy to hire for. A large number of candidate resumes weren't a good fit. But we found a few strong engineers we are excited about. I'm optimistic we can fill it.

There's a couple of problems you'll run into not testing on prod. Using a test env means other teams might use it. Tests will be noisier if random apis and services are also being tested.

You might need to implement short cuts or bypass normal prod services. This can cause issues in the future and be harder to maintain.

I prefer to be on product based teams in tech companies. I'd like my work goals to align with team goals, and I'd prefer that my role be a company priority.

Your boss should have had specific examples. But this comment is a little interesting:

normally my hard technical skills are the issue. I’m not exactly the most passionate coder, but I think I do a decent enough job. Maybe a little slow on throughout.

Have you gotten negative feedback about your technical skills? A lack of passion or issues with tech skills might line up your boss's statement about your attention to detail.

I agree. It loses only 4mb of cache and two cores. I don't think going to 6 cores would make a difference in gaming, and it has more cache per core. I'm expecting it to be about the same as the 7950x3d in gaming at worst.

I don't know. But the review embargo lifts on the 27th, so we'll have more info tomorrow.

You need to diversify. Diversifying across multiple brokerage accounts might help you out.

His website is worse. I feel bad for the kid, his parents are exploiting him. There's just a couple of random form letter here, and a badly dubbed video. https://barisciencelab.tech/Soborno\_Isaac\_Harvard.html

I don't want to see 1st party Nintendo games go to $70. Nintendo doesn't put their games on sale quickly.

Kanto looks interesting. It's an mATX case with wood. https://www.cubeor.com/kanto/

I'd really like a Fractal North mini. I like the design on the Fractal North better, but it has some similarities.

Does eco mode exist for 7000X3D cpus? I've read the default power limits can't be changed. I was interested in X3D performance. But I'm also wanting to limit heat. I might just get a cpu now if it's not an option.

California pays COs well.

I'm not sure about SF. Redlands is a 7 hour drive away. There's a couple tiny military bases close by, but no major military presence in the bay area.

midfield99

I'm in the bay area, though I haven't done GIS work here. I'm not sure tech companies would be the best bet. There are some tech giants, like Apple and Google that hire gis contractors, but I don't think they are treated or paid well. https://www.reddit.com/r/gis/comments/p8adsl/gis_specialist_contract_role_with_appleinterview/

There are also some full time engineering positions focused on GIS, like Apple Maps. But those go to developers. I think that learning Java and python is a great idea. Though now's a really bad time to interview with Silicon Valley tech companies. There's regular layoffs and more competition.

You have opportunity to complete stories. Do the initial investigation and scoping instead of having your leads do it.

That phrasing sounds aggressive, management may decide parting ways is mutually beneficial if OP doesn't hit L61. And two promos isn't realistic.

midfield99

5yoe and L59 are the biggest red flags. That's below NCG hires. That shows a lack of growth. I'm kind of interested in why you didn't have many opportunities to hit L60, and why your management thought opportunities could be rare. Poor management may be a factor.

I don't think you are in a good spot. It may have been safer when tech was on a hiring spree and managers were motivated not to lose people. But you might be at risk if your management is looking for low performers.
